Tea Time

Halla walked through the shaded area of the Orchard, looking for a good place to settle down and work. She carried a bundle of peppermint in her mouth and paused long enough to glance back at Káti. She was enjoying crafting with the man. He was quiet and soft-spoken and that suited her just fine. She didn't need someone to chatter on endlessly while she worked. Once she found a place she settled down to get a fire going. She hoped to make some peppermint tea to ease her sore throat and to also create a poultice of the leaves for a sprain she'd suffered earlier. Once she had the fire going she started stripping the leaves off the peppermint plant. She worked at pulling the leaves one by one until she had a nice pile which she then divided into smaller piles, one for the tea, one for the poultice. "Talk" |

Káti couldn't pass up tea time with the lovely woman he'd met at the party. He trotted along after her with a gathering of yarrow held gently between his teeth. The focus was mostly on tea today but he planned to make a poultice mixture as well. He had a few ideas for how they could possibly be stored though he had a feeling that just drying the herbs would be the best route. Káti helped Halla with the fire and then settled down, pulling the leaves off the yarrow plants he'd gathered, eventually sorting them into two little piles for his projects.
Halla was the quiet sort but Káti still felt compelled to try and make some sort of conversation. "Say, Halla. Have you ever thought about joining a pack?"

Halla unrolled one of her deer hide bundles to reveal two ceramic bowls. She took them out and then measured out an ounce of the leaves into one bowl and an ounce into the other. Picking up a piece of deer antler she pushed the flat end down onto the herbs to bruise them. Making sure the leaves in both bowls were bruised well. She set the deer antler down as she nodded at Káti's question. "It has crossed my mind, yes. I wish to find my family first and see if it would be a fit for me. Have you heard of the Finnvi? I am looking for an Alfrún Finnvi." She stated her aunt's name though she didn't hold out too much hope he knew who she was talking about. "Talk" |

Káti pulled two ceramic bowls from a rabbit hide bundle. He took one small pile of yarrow leaves and placed them into one of the ceramic bowls before taking the other little pile and placing them in the other bowl for the poultice. Taking a deer fibula he started mashing the leaves in the second bowl into a good pulp for the poultice. He wasn't sure if fresh leaves or mashed leaves were better for a tea but he opted to just leave the other bowl alone for now.
Káti listened as Halla spoke. He set the bone down and shook his head. "Sorry, I haven't met any Finnvi's yet." He wished he could help but he tended to keep to himself. "I hope to join a pack before winter but I guess I haven't quite figured out what I'm looking for. I guess somewhere that will accept me as a healer and not just a warrior." He'd been trained to fight but it wasn't his passion and he didn't want to immediately be shoe-horned into 'soldier'. Not that he was opposed to it necessarily but the whole point of coming to Boreas was to escape that fate.

Halla figured as much. She hadn't really expected the man to know any of her family members but it was still disappointing. She hoped to find her aunt before winter settled in. They were coming towards the end of summer but she still had another season to track down her family. Halla figured when it came push to shove she could start going from pack to pack and inquiring about who lived there. Taking her water skin, she dumped a pint of water into the bowl that would make her tea and then a bit into the bowl for the poultice, just enough to get the leaves wet. She scooted both bowls toward the fire. She needed the tea to at least get to a simmer but as soon as the poultice mixture was warm she retrieved it from the fire and mashed it up into a paste which she quickly applied to her sore ankle. Kati grabbed an empty bowl and trotted over to a nearby stream, once there he carefully scooped up some water before working his way back to where they were crafting. He poured in a bout a pint of water and then scooted it toward the fire. For the poultice he added just a touch of water and then scooted that bowl near the fire as well, seeking to heat it but not to boil it like she intended to do with the tea. Once that was taken care of he settled down to rest, laying his head on his arms. He wanted to carry on the conversation but he was at a loss of what to say. He thought about asking about the weather and another number of topics before deciding to just stick with silence for now. If she wanted to talk surely she'd start the conversatiion.
