Wyndelin found a nice place in the valley to start a fire and work on a couple projects. He settled down next to a pine tree as he watched the fire burn down to hot coals. He had a few clay bowls to fire and they were dry and waiting. He turned his attention to the pine tree, examining it for places of injury when he found a spot where sticky sap leaked from the tree. Taking one of his finished ceramic bowls Wyndelin carefully set it down on the ground below the injury. Hunting around on the ground he found a small stick and took it in his jaws. Carefully he stuck the stick into the sap and started gathering the sticky substance into his bowl.
He turned to check the fire and saw that it was just right. Taking a longer stick he scooted some hot coals off to the side for the pine pitch. He quickly set the bowl of sap onto the hot coals before turning his attention to his pots.
Flat stones were set up near the fire, forming a stable place to set the clay bowls. Wydelin proceeded to carefully place his pots on the flat stone, putting them on a piece of raw hide first so they'd be easier to rotate as they dried further. He'd have to rotate them frequently to prevent cracking.
