Dagrún wandered through the Orchard where she was meeting Gossamer for one last crafting session before winter set in. She headed toward the crafting site with a number of bones held securely in her mouth. She planned to make a bone knife and maybe a few other odds and ends while she was at it, maybe she'd have enough pieces to make a bone spearhead as well.
Setting down her items she pulled out the piece of bone she wanted to work on and started chewing on it. She worked with her teeth for a bit but before standing up and grabbing a nearby rock. Dagrún lifted the rock high as she could and dropped it on the bone til it cracked. This would give her a better starting point for the knife and spearheead. Gossamer carefully picked up the smaller bone fragment and began to fine tune the shape with her teeth.

Gossamer trotted through the Orchard, beckoning Asta after her while Natha broke away to hunt the small rodents that were taking advantage of the fallen fruit that still littered the Orchard floor. She soon found where Dag was working and greeted the other girl before getting to work. She stopped near a hazel bush to get a stick for her atlatl dart. She continued to chew on the base of the hazel bush until she chewed loose a nice, mostly straight branch. She then moved to stripping the leaves and offshoots from it. Once that was done she picked up a piece of deer shed in her mouth and started chewing on the antlers, seeking to remove the unwanted tines so she'd have something that could be used to launch the dart. Granted an atlatl for a wolf probably wasn't going to work but she still wanted to try.

Dagrún chewed on the larger bone fragment, sharpening one end into a blade-like edge before moving to the other side. She worked to try and sharpen the other edge so that the knife would be sharp on both sides. She left the base of the bone untouched to form a handle so she could use the knife effectively. Dagrún then took the blade in his jaws and carefully started running it over a nearby stone to sharpen and sculpt and smooth out some of his rough tooth marks. With that done she moved back to the spearhead. It took more delicate work to shape the spearhead without cutting her tongue. Although she wanted to be done soon she willed herself to work precisely and with as much patience as a pup her age could manage.

Gossamer chewed away at the antler, working to free the excess tines from the main section that she planned to work into a rough atlatl shape. The sound of fangs on bone echoed in her ears as she worked. This was tough work on her teeth and was slower than she wanted. Maybe some day she'd figure out a better and quicker way to do this.
Taking a break from the atlatl she moved over to the dart. Taking the stick over to a sharp, fractured rock she started scraping one end of the stick to sharpen it. Gossamer carefully used one of her paws to help aim the stick as she twisted her head and scraped. When at last she had a good point she moved over to the fire that Asta had made and stuck the point in the ash harden it. As soon as it turned black she pulled it from the fire and set it aside.

Dagrún chewed a few more chunks off the other side of bone before deciding she had a pretty decent spear head. The point still needed to be refined a bit more so she took the blade in her teeth and started scratching it against a large stone to fine tune the point. Once that was done she took the bone knife in her teeth again and worked to sharpen and refine that one a bit more now that she had the smaller spearhead finished. Dagrún set the blade down between her paws and examined the smoother part that was her handle. She could try wrapping leather around it but she felt the bone was smooth enough to be a good handle. If her teethe started to wear through it to bad she could wrap it in leather later. Dag set her projects aside proudly.

Gossamer pulled a few turkey feathers out of her travois to add fletching to the atlatl dart. Placing one of the feathers between her paws she took her own bone knife and cut the feather in half before chewing off the excess point. Asta took their pine pitch stick and started to heat the pitch over the fire. Once it started to melt Gossamer took it and spread some on the back end of the dart, carefully positioning the stick with her paws so it didn't roll over. Next she carefully set the pitch stick down then picked up one of the feather halves and stuck it onto the stick, holding onto the feather until she was sure it was dry. Once one feather was done she added two more so there were three positioned evenly to form dart fletching.
Gossy turned her attention back to the atlatl. She had the tines removed now and all that was left was the base of the antler. She started chewing on it to form a notch that would help hold the dart in place. Once she was done she set her work aside.
