A glance over the girls shoulder would reveal no one was following her, least as far as her untrained eyes and nose could tell. It wasn't reliable, but she would deal with anyone that happened to stop her as she wandered away from the shrine. The girl didn't know where she was going, nor where she planned to go. It'd been a while since she'd gone on that small outing with Pontifex to the edge of the woods, but she hadn't been out since. Oh how bored she was, sitting around the shrine all day and praying to Abraxas or whoever they'd been taught to worship. Screw these blasted gods that her mother wanted them to worship. They'd not reached out to her, not spoken to her since she'd been born. They'd spoken to her sisters, she knew that much. Faith and Modesty were always chattering about the voice that plagued one or the other, she hadn't bothered to ask which one it'd been. Voices in your head? Yeah, she doubted that. |
