Paladin 'Knight' Ancora

The tents were up, staked against the wind, and tucked against the wall for an extra buffer against the weather. Furs were laid within each tent, with supplies for healing and a fire guttered in the hide, ready to heat water. Fires were commonly used near the passages these days, anyways, as a spot to warm up during sentry and patrol duty.

Paladin sat quietly in the doorway of the tent nearest to the passage, ears perked and listening, eyes searching the whiteout toward Aerie’s lands across the freeland strip.

He was old enough now that nerves weren’t a major part of his emotions. Mostly he tried to remind himself that this wasn’t an earnest fight, at least not on Valhalla’s side. He wasn’t certain if Eligos would have told his pack that this was a training exercise for both packs.

Memories of the horrific injuries wrought by Talis were hard to shake, however, and soon he busied himself with tidying the herbs in the tent, though one ear was canted eastward as he worked.

Paladin has a thick, Educated Irish Brogue type accent. It's understandable.

Tonights the night
Elizabeth wanted to warm her fur against the lit fires. With the winter chill blowing through the tents securely propped up, she could feel it rustling through her fur. Raising her head her paws moved to look towards Paladin. The healer worked so hard for Valhalla, everyone could see that. At least she was hoping he recieved his due credit. He was busying himself with the herbs, a method she had seen many medics in the field use back at home. If one was nervous, it seemed to melt away once you got your paws working. "I've never been in a practice raid before." she suddenly spoke towards Paladin. Perhaps a bit of small talk would help. With Benson keeping a look out for injured coming towards the camp she didn't have the feathery companion to talk to.

"My homeland was riddled with war. I've treated broken bones, gashes, to nearly fatal wounds before. But never a practice one. I suppose it's a good thing." she shifted on her paws uneasily. She realized that speaking of her homeland might have not been the best idea. Valhalla was her home and she had worked hard to start memorizing the herbs and what they did here. Her stores were stocked and she was even more prepared for this. The white wolf looked out across the field, her mind focusing on a job that had to get done.

Tonight was the night, the raiding party had already left, almost immediately being swallowed up by the whiteout snow and Drachen watched them leave, his oceanic blue eyes hard as he scanned the surrounding area. The tents were already set up against the wall and the healers were busy with the final preparations within those tents. He was here to guard them incase any of the enemy warriors broke through and attacked them. His dark face turned to look over his muscular shoulder, spotting the white male who seemed to be the head healer here at the entrance to one of the tents, giving the male a nod before he returned his attention to the freeland. The wind howled, pulling and clawing at his thick pelt as he stood on top of a large boulder he chose to be his lookout position. It gave him a good enough view to hopefully see any movement in the thick snowfall, enemy or friendly injured, early enough to spring into action.

This situation was nothing new to him, his birthpack always had some war going on with the neighboring packs and nerves before battle was not something he felt anymore. But his dark hackles still rose along his spine in anticipation and the adrenaline coursing through his veins made his heart throb harder in his chest. The stone beneath his claws scrapped softly as he flexed his claws to keep the blood flowing through them a few times before he settled into a stoic stillness. He could feel Enzi's eyes on him as his red tailed hawk companion perched on the wall, hunkered slightly against the wind despite his insistence that she stayed home in their den. The wind was too strong for her to fly and he did not want her to get hurt but of course the raptor had a mind of her own. Drachen released a deep breath, the fog from his nares instantly being ripped away by the wind, as he stood on his post and peered into the whiteout conditions and waited.
Drachen has a female Red-Tailed Hawk companion named Enzi that is always with him unless otherwise stated

Regulus Anatolii Adravendi

The crimson man sat patiently on the wall, tucked halfway into one of the shelters built at the top of the passages, a heavy bison pelt tucked over his shoulders to keep the wind off. His daughter had chosen quite the storm to raid in, and he wondered how they were faring. He could just pick up the sounds of fighting beginning over the wind.

At either hip hunkered his companions, black on one side, white on the other. The mated pair of mountain lions had a child in the fight as well, though they were just as confident in Loshir’s abilities as he was. Oh, he didn’t discount that his daughter could be beaten. All it took was just one wrong move. He was proof of it. He had at least one grandchild out there, too.

Ardyn was excited, and this raid would help channel that excitement into productivity. Spring’s cusp would bring the year full-circle, and his grandchildren would be yearlings. Yearlings already. He sighed, tucking the bison hide over his front paws out of the wind. His hind legs were tucked underneath him, ready to propel him from the wall onto an attacker if need be.

A soft sigh left Laoise's lips, the sound was barely audible over the blizzard raging outside of the healers tent. Her two-toned eyes glanced out into the storm frequently as she worked to help prepare any finishing touches on the bandages, poultices, and salves. Even though this was a practice raid, Laoise couldn't keep down the nervousness that flowed through her like a chill down the spine. Her family was out there. Her mother, brothers, and extended family. Even at her young age she could tell that this blizzard was no joke and they were out there fighting in it. A small frown pulled at her russet lips as her brows wrinkled together as she organized the items in front of her.... then moved them again.... and again. She could just make out Regulus' shape outside on guard duty and another man on a boulder who apparently just joined them. Laoise knew they would alert them to any movement of the injured coming back or protect them if the "enemy" attacked them but she couldn't help worrying that they might miss something, that her mother or brother could be out there in need of help, but no one could see or hear them. The girl's head shook subtly once as she chased the thoughts away and settled into making more salves as a distraction.

Okay, so his first fight in a raid had been a flop, but he respected the man who’d bested him. As he pushed through the whipping blizzard he wondered if he could track the man down for a spar later on. For now, he needed to get the mild cut cleaned and treated, and maybe a little something to eat. He hadn’t packed any travel food in the pouches, since they weren’t traveling far to raid.

He spotted the fires blazing, haloed and almost obscured by the blizzard, and soon the dark line of the wall loomed ahead. He spotted Regulus’ red face and grinned, shrugging. “Lost on the first fight.”

He pressed on through the blizzard and found the tents, sniffing for Paladin. He spotted Lee and gently nudged her shoulder as he drew close.

“Ready for your first patient? I have a small cut and a little overall soreness from fighting.”

He padded past her into the tent and settled in, Enito and Chrystal following. The monkey unbuckled the Sentinel’s armor and slid it off of him, followed by the cloak, and neatly stacked the armor and fabric out of the way while Cairo stretched out and bared the main injury for the girl.

It felt like she had arranged her salves and bandages for the millionth time when her ears picked up the sound of paws in the snow and her face swung towards the sound. It was hard to see through the snow at first but soon she spotted Cairo coming towards her and she returned his friendly nudge to her shoulder. Her sapphire and ice blue eyes widened when the Sentinel asked if she was ready for her first patient and nervousness flared in her chest again. "Oh... Yes.. Of course... This way please." she stammered and gestured with her slender nose to the large hide laid on the ground for patients. Lee stepped aside and allowed Cairo and his companions to pass by her and into the tent, following right after they entered. She waited patiently for his companions to undo the man's armor and took that time to gather her supplies. She quickly grabbed two meadowsweets in her teeth from her collection of supplies and set them in front of Cairo before she turned and gently nudged two bowls of warm water closer to the Sentinel as was as some bandages and a cloth.

Quickly the young woman washed her paws in one bowl and wiped them dry on the cloth next to it before she turned her attention to the cut the man had bared for her. It was not deep and would heal quickly but certainly needed some salve to help keep it from getting infected. Her sapphire and ice blue eyes flicked to meet Cairo's as she explained "Eat the meadowsweets now so they can get working on the pain and soreness. After about thirty minutes you can eat as they will be absorbed by then. she paused for a second to see if he had any questions about the herb before continuing, her voice growing more sure of herself as she worked. "Luckily the cut is not deep at all but you should definitely keep a salve around and apply it morning and night after this to keep it from getting infected. It should heal in a couple of days." she held his gaze for a moment longer before she turned her attention back to the cut. "I'm going to start cleaning it now, so it might hurt a bit but it'll be quick since it's not a big wound." she said to him before she took another cloth and dipped it in the clean water bowl then began to gently clean the cut, her eyes flicking to Cairo's face from time to time to make sure she wasn't causing him pain.
