Rumor had drawn him north, far more north than he'd ever chosen to go before, until his paws rested on a frozen sheet of ice that continued on into the distance, a bridge to.... somewhere. He didn't know where, he didn't know if it actually went anywhere or if it simply ended far out into the sea, but it was unusual and curiosity had lured him here. Now he was making his cautious way out further and further onto the bridge of ice... the ice bridge... even though logically he should have stayed far south of here where his pack waited for his leadership. Taking risks like this when they depended on him was foolish, but this was fascinating, and he couldn't help but wonder where the path would lead if he followed it to its conclusion. He gave logic some rein, and didn't go far enough to lose sight of the northern shore so if worst case happened and he ended up in the water without a way back onto the bridge he could swim back through the freezing water, but he did go out far enough that it would be... difficult to do so, and found himself wishing he could set aside rationality for a moment and venture further. Instead he lowered himself to lay sphinx-like on his belly and study the bridge as it disappeared through the horizon.

He had taken the plunge and went further north. He passed mountains and forests until he was as far north as he could go just about. And what lied at the end of his path on the mainland? An ice bridge. He wondered if that's where the large and strange beasts had come from. He stood on the shore just before the start of the bridge, the cold winds threatening to blow him and Knut off their feet. "What do ye make of it?" He murmured to Knut, the cat feeling as uneasy as he was. "I suspect this cropped up recently...and likely where these giant beasts have come from." Gimli responded with a low grunt, blazing yellow eyes narrowed against the wind and the spray of the sea. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for the potential exploration ahead. He wasn't keen on taking his feet off of solid ground, but the curiosity he had for this new structure demanded satisfaction. The more he studied the bridge, he started to notice a figure a good distance away. It had been moving away from them, and eventually...it stopped. Had someone gone out there? Were they in trouble? He had many guesses, but no final answer. He supposed now he had to go and investigate. After all, his thirst for adventure was too overpowering to ignore. "I guess tha' settles it. Let's go," That cat meowed in protest, but the complaint was lost in the wind as Gimli started forward.

He was glad for once that he wasn't a towering beast. He was closer to the ground, so the wind wasn't as threatening as it could've been. The bear claws on his front feet did well to help him keep his grip, and before he knew it, he was nearly upon the creature he had spotted from the shore. As they drew closer, he slowed down. "Góður dagur!” He called out over the wind and sea. The wolf he was approaching didn't look like one of the dire wolves he'd seen lumbering across the lands, but he couldn't be sure just yet.

It wasn't particularly comfortable out on the ice in the chill wind even with his pelt to protect him, but Eligos couldn't bring himself to turn about yet. It was fascinating to him, that bridge of ice leading off into the unknown, and he longed to find out what was on the other side. But duty and logic kept him bound to where he was. He would abandon his family or Aerie to hare off on an adventure, especially one that would undoubtedly lead to him drowning in icy water as he told himself 'I told you so'

The wind did much to cover the sound of another's approach so when his ears twitched and his head turned to follow the sound, the approaching atranger was beginning to speak. Eligos studied the small male curiously. He didn't know what he had said, but in context it seemed a greeting of sorts. "Greetings," he said back over the wind. "This is a long way out to find another curious traveler." He certainly hoped the other wolf spoke the common tongue as well, or this would be a very annoying conversation.
