who's got your tongue?
Kuroki had never heard his little brother, Take, utter a single word but for one reason or another he was convinced that he could speak, he just chose not to. The little Oni was more than a little impressed with his brother's dedication, surely it took a lot of willpower to bite back the words that sat on the tip of his tongue, but he made it seem easy. Effortless even. Well Kuroki was gonna put Take's resolve to the test today, to really push his buttons and make say something. Anything would do. Kicking off into a gallop, Kuroki struggled through the snow till he found the dark of his sibling's figure lingering outside the palace entry way. As to what he was doing didn't really matter for now, he looked distracted and it was the perfect time for Kuroki to strike.
He offered the boy no warning or challenge, he simply launched himself ahead, head ducked and ready to ram into his brother with the pointy little nubs of his horns. It was on!

It was true, Take had yet to utter a single word compared to his siblings who were already babbling along just fine. Every time he tried to, the words got mixed up in his mouth and a weird garbled sound came out, his tongue refusing to move in the correct way to allow him to enunciate. It made no sense, according to his Baba, as there was nothing wrong with his vocal cords. He could growl, yip, bark and howl as well as the rest of them but when it came to words? Forget it? It troubled him, seeing all of the concerned looks his father, mama and baba gave him so he practiced every time he could. In fact, that’s just what he was doing when he was suddenly ambushed from behind.
A startled yelp came from his lips as the solid head of his eldest sibling rammed his small, pointy horns into his shoulder. Already he could feel a soreness settling into the spot, a frown tipping onto the corners of his mouth as he rolled onto his paws. His glowing red gaze narrowed on his siblings and his head gave a slight tilt, clearly saying What the heck was that for?. With his sisters, the young Ashen Dragon was normally gentle even when play fighting because his father had specifically told them to take care of the girls. Plus, Take really liked his sisters. Not that he didn’t like his brother, of course, because he did, but he felt especially protective of Iki, Ike and Kit, so there was minimal rough housing.
But, with Oki? Oh, it was game on.
Lowering his head, the boy charged as his sibling with as much ferociousness as he could muster, his own nubs curved more backward that up and down, acting as a battering ram rather than a skewer.

Kuroki attempted to dart out of the way but didn't take the depth of the snow into account and instead merely shuffled a few unimpressive steps. He wasn't going anywhere fast, not without a build up like he'd had before. So it was no surprise that he earned himself a bonk as well, throwing him off balance as he fell dramatically onto the snow with an ooof, as though he had been well and truly beaten. Except...nope! Like the surge of an incoming wave Kuroki was rearing back up, maw agape as he attempted a muzzle grab.

Take could hear his brother’s paws skitter in the snow as he tried to gain traction in order to come back at him. Oki took after their father in his medium build, making him lighter than the scaled boy, which would have been an advantage in any other scenario except for this one. With his slightly heavier weight, the second eldest Oritsu Abraxas child was able to gain a footing much more easily in the snowy weather and, thus, landed a solid hit to his older brother. The horned-boy fell to the ground with a dramatic oof, one that might have elicited a laugh from him in any other situation if the other hadn’t immediately surged back up to try and grab his muzzle.
His auds folded back as his quicker sibling snagged onto him, his muzzle wrinkling in disdain. Your breath stinks! he thought with narrowed glowing eyes. With a playful growl he reared up to wrap his forelegs around Kuroki’s neck, tossing his weight to the side in an attempt to push him to the ground to pin him.
