the good, the bad, the ugly

The raid was over, physical injuries were seen to, and the wounds to their pride were licked. It was time for him to call the warriors together to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly of what had happened during their practice defense. Making his way to the low boulder he used for meetings, he didn't bother to hop up on it before he lifted his head and called for the pack's warriors. He wasn't acting precisely as pack alpha in this instance, so much as the war-leader, and so he would stand among them rather than over them. He sat beside the boulder instead, aching in head and joints and scratching absently at a coat in springtime shed as he waited for the warriors to gather.

To say that Iroh was disappointed with the raid results was an understatement. The pack couldn’t even muster the numbers to match their ‘practice’ opponent. The young man felt humiliated even after winning against a more experienced adversary. He was cooled off by now, Iroh had immediately returned to Elise to soothe his worries. Ever grateful to return to her, Iroh was in better spirits when the call rang out for the warriors of the pack. Iroh kissed his woman, not barring him from joining him, and headed towards the meeting place.
Massive paws carried him to his cousin’s presence. Eligos sat waiting, not in his usual position upon the height of the boulder. Iroh gave a quick nod of his head before taking a seat. His head held high despite everything.

While the raid hadn't gone entirely in Aerie's favor, Ragna was still pleased with her performance. Defeating Valhalla's alphess had been the highlight of the raid for her, even if the Valhallan healer had revived her. If they ended up in another battle with Valhalla she'd be sure to target the healer first but that seemed unlikely. Once the fighting was finished Ragna tended to her own wounds as well as those of her husband. She was resting when she heard Eligos call the warriors together. Slowly getting to her feet she stretched then headed toward the meeting. Once she arrived she nodded to Eligos and Iroh before taking a seat. She knew her husband would be close behind. Skælingr limped to the lake to get a drink. The raid was over now and his wounds tended to and he had yet to really think to much on the result other than Aerie could've and should've done better. He hadn't realized how small the pack had seemed until they were in battle with a larger one. Aerie needed to boost its ranks but he wasn't sure on the best way to do that. Naturally, pups were an option. His thoughts drifted to Ragna as he debated if they should try again. They'd tried for pups in the past but had yet to be successful, opting to shelve the idea until they'd gotten settled in Boreas. Well, they were settled now. He was pulled from his thoughts by Eligos. Getting to his paws he headed toward the meeting, moving to sit with his wife. He leaned gently against her and reached over to nuzzle her cheek. "Speech" |

Unsure of where to settle himself Armando lingered just outside the gathering of wolves. He noted where his packmates were seated and who with, and then swallowed his nerves, puffed out his chest and marched forward like he felt like he belonged...which he did not. It was through no one's fault that he felt that way. It was just going to take time to feel truly comfortable among wolves. He'd never really mastered it in Abaven and he certainly hadn't made any efforts in the Armada. This was going to take time and he recognized that if it was going to work at all he needed to get out more and get to know his neighbors.
He sat down off to Eligos' right side at a catty corner to the whole group so he could see both the alpha and the pack. Once seated he took off his helmet and absently rested his front paws on either side of its spikes. A single claw tapped a steady, quiet beat on one of the spikes as he waited for the meeting to begin.

Armando has a female tufted titmouse companion. It doesn't have a name because it's dumb and doesn't deserve one. Assume it's with him always.

Pyrrhic settled in sphinx-like off to Eligos' left side and crossed one foreleg over the other. While he waited for the meeting to begin he rolled his left paw over and reexamined a tear that ran across the central pad. At some point during the raid he'd acquired it, but adrenaline, perhaps, had dulled his notice of it until all was said and done. It wasn't until the pain of it had necessitated limping that he'd really taken stock of the injury. The placement was unfortunate, but the wound itself wasn't serious. It promised to be a nuisance for weeks to come.

Dantalian snuck a quick peek around before ghosting into the meeting place. For once she was counting on one of the more annoying side effects of her size to aid her. If she was lucky maybe no one would notice her sneaking in at the last second. She could hope, right? There were only a few wolves she was concerned about catching her tardy. The first was her father who generally frowned upon such things, but thankfully he was facing her uncle and if she was quiet and sat away from him, maybe he wouldn't notice. The second, uncle Eligos, would be trickier as he was facing her, but Dantalian genuinely didn't know if he would care about her tardiness since it didn't appear she was the last one in.
She settled down quietly behind her father hoping to use his identical coloring and greater size to shield her from disapproving eyes while also using him as a shield from his notice. He seemed preoccupied by something on one of his paws, which gave her cause for hope. Dantalian knew she was in the wrong for being late and she'd tried her best to arrive in a reasonable time, but it had felt as through the fates that guided her movements couldn't get their shit together or something, because here she was late as fuck with no real excuse as to why.
