Apollinaris Galanis

Molon Labe

The more time he spent in this new land, the more he came to realize that something was off. It was incredibly cold for one, and for another there seemed to be strange beast roaming about. Maybe this was normal for this place, but he certainly didn't like it; cold was not his favorite by a long shot. The crunch of his paws as he trekked north reminded him with each step. He had plans to explore as much as he could to become familiar with not only the land but the inhabitants too. However, the snow and general cold weather was making that very difficult. After "meeting up" with Odyssia, he thought to stick north for now and see what was out there. The giant trees drew his interest, and he craned his neck to look skyward as he wandered among the massive trunks. He was not used to seeing such large trees, and it felt unnerving to have to look so far up; he was quite tall himself, and did not enjoy being dwarfed so.

Apollinaris huffed a snort as he stopped, his breath rising as steam. There wasn't much to see here, though he had whiffs of a pack to the east. He would have to poke around there later; maybe he would even come across a member here? He didn't much feel like going further north, as it felt like the wind grew colder with each step. Ears came forward as he glanced around, wondering what prey animals called this enormous forest home. It would be a good time to start mapping out hunting grounds for his clan as more arrived.

Halcyone Pagonis

With everything we have

The dreadful cold seemed to seep into her bones, a feeling that she would never grow accustomed to and she couldn’t help the resentment she felt towards the land itself. Hunting for herbs would be next to impossible, and hunting for prey likely wouldn’t be much easier. What living thing would choose to reside in a place like this? She supposed it was a bit of a hypocritical question, given that she was there. If she set her mind to it, she was sure she could find a place with warm, sunny beaches, but instead she was in a frozen hellscape.

Her tail swished at her hips as she searched for something to do, some sign of life, and was pleasantly surprised when she caught not the scent of prey, but of a friend. A grin split across her face as she approached, her pace slowing as she neared the taller male. "Polly..." She purred the nickname, approaching him with a teasing expression on her face. "Looking to have a little fun?" She lifted a brow, wondering if her childhood companion would be up for a bit of an adventure. He had never disappointed her in that area before, and she doubted today would be the day that changed.

Apollinaris Galanis

Molon Labe

He heard the sounds of crunching snow, and eagerly hoped it would be a large prey animal of some sort. Turning to face the source right as the woman spoke, his lips turned into a flat smile, her favorite nickname for him grating against every nerve in his body. He chuckled at her question, tossing his head to clear it of the natural irritation that seemed to build in the woman's presence. "Dear Halcyone, when am I not?" He arched a brow in his own teasing manner, rolling his shoulders to loosen his stance. If childhood at taught him anything, it's that the pair always found something to do. "Glad to see you could finally make it up here. Lovely, isn't it?" He swiped at the ground with a white forepaw, sending snow spraying into the air. "Is this place a never-ending winter? What could possibly be worth taking in such dreadful conditions." As if nature had heard his complaining, a stiff cold breeze pushed past the pair, causing the man's fur to bristle.

He gave himself a rough shake, willing his fur to stand down and smooth out. He shot a glance at the redwood trunks surrounding them, huffing another puff of steam before icy eyes returned to his companion. "What's on your itinerary today? Did you truly come all this way just to bother me, or do you want to be useful?" His tones returned to those of teasing, knowing the woman had much thicker skin than his usual targets of harassment.
