Eligos was travelling north once more to see the ice bridge, to see if it still existed or if it had been broken apart by the force of the sea upon it. Cypher and Kida were travelling with him, though Kida had begun her first heat cycle so she was irritable and snappy with Cypher, and he was beginning to think he should have left one of them back with the pack to keep an eye on things - and keep them separate until the season passed. As it was he had Cypher out scouting in a wide arc in front of them, partly for practice for the still-energetic young dog and partly for his own sanity.
Since he was neither interested in Kida's heat scent nor receptive to any attempts to quarrel, the two of them loped side by side in unbroken silence, until ahead of them a sudden screeching volley of barks brought their attention to the northeast of them - and a deep bellow nearly drown it out and had them both leaping into a sprint.
Coming out of the trees Eligos saw Cypher squared off with a giant white bear. The dog's hackles were up and he was in a crouch, one hind leg dragging and clearly broken, covered in blood from the claw marks across his thigh, but was stubbornly holding his ground. The giant of a bear was weaving back and forth in front of him, clearly nerving up for a murderous charge that would crush the interloper under him. Eligos gave it no time to make up its mind for murder - he rushed in and slammed into its flank with his shoulder, slamming his newly-horned and unfortunately still sore head into the fleshy upper part between ribs and hip. Kida, with her own roaring furious barking, snapped onto the bear's ear, shaking her head viciously and not letting go until he batted her away with a bellow. They just needed to hold the bear until the injured young malinois could get far enough away to be safe.

Rœkia dragged Lukina back northward, curious to see if the weather had changed at all now that summer had officially begun. So far she wasn't impressed. There was a notable chill in the air and a cold wind whipped at her fur. She was working down an incline when she heard the sounds of some sort of canine in pain followed by the bellows of a polar bear. A moment later she saw them. Uh oh… that was something best left avoided. At least, that was her original plan. However, her younger cousin had been loping through the snow and smacked full force into her hind end, sending her tumbling down and bashing right into the bear's hind legs. "Shit farts, Lukina. Really?" she thought to herself as she switched swiftly to attack mode. There was another canine and a wolf also locked in battle with the bear. She swiftly dug her fangs into the bear's right hind leg, just above the heel as she searched for the achilles tendon.

Lukina was enjoying the trip north. It had more to do with her being six months old than anything. She'd grown well and was finding it much easier to keep up with her older cousin now that she had longer legs. As they wandered it began to snow and Lukina busied herself chasing snowflakes. She was so caught up in what she was doing that she barreled right into her cousin, sending the other woman sliding down an icy slope and into a polar bear. Oh no! She wasted no time and charged toward the bear, noting an injured canine and the smell of blood. They had to help! Lukina took a flying leap onto the back of the bear, her retractable claws digging in tight for grip as she grabbed hold of the polar bear's other ear.

Eligos was startled when another wolf slammed into the rear of the bear, as though propelled from behind rather than through deliberate choice. Maybe it was literally propelled, since immediately after that a young girl launched herself onto the bear and latched on with feline claws. Eligos backed off from the bear a moment, just in time to avoid being swatted when the bear turned towards him. He ducked, and the bear's meaty paws just skimmed the tips of those oh-so-inconvenient horns, knocking him to the side and making the bear roar in pain as one of the tips pierced the paw. Kida leaped in to sink her fangs into the offending paw. This allowed Eligos to roll to his feet and duck under the bear, jabbing upward with the horns to gouge at the bear's belly on his way to the other side of him. The bear swung his arm, Kida still attached, and at the apex of the swing Kida let go, letting momentum carry her clear before dashing back in. Cypher, meanwhile, had finally come into some sense and was beating as hasty of a retreat as one young dog could manage with a broken hind leg dragging limply behind him, panting heavily in pain. He'd almost made it to the treeline, but a smear of blood marked his passage and Eli was afraid that even if he got to a safe distance the bear would just follow the blood trail as soon as they disengaged. They'd have to beat him soundly enough that he wouldn't follow the injured dog to exact revenge - or kill him.

Rœkia held on tight, thrashing her head from side to side, trying to use torsion to increase the damage she could do. She felt the bear jerk forward and twist. She couldn't really see everything that was going on from her position so she just focused to see if fangs would be coming back her way. She felt the bear kick out and it managed with enough force to knock her onto her back. Clearly, whatever was going on at the front of the beast was far more interesting than her and she was just fine with that. She rolled onto her feet and dove again at the injury to the back of the ankle. Fangs dug in and she began to thrash once more, finally met with the achilles tendon she tore through it with her fangs. The bear's leg suddenly went flat.

Lukina's fangs ripped through the bear's ear and she quickly bit down on the upper side of its neck as the bear thrashed and shook its head. She used her claws and her teeth to hang on, muscles tensing as she just barely managed to keep her grip. Her heart was racing and she didn't really know what to do other than hold on so that's exactly what she did. She worked her teeth and claws deeper into the bears flesh, anchoring her position. She tried to see what else was going on and spied the horned man and the dog continuing their attack. She was sure Rœkia was somewhere. Hopefully they'd hurry. She didn't know how to get down from here!
