Lúta moved with calculated steps. She was still recovering from her illness as well as the grief of losing her friend, Resin. When she'd finally been well enough to be aware of her surroundings and the happenings of the pack it was to learn that Resin had passed and Lúta had missed the funeral. Even though Resin's passing was inevitable there was an odd sort of lack of closure she hadn't been able to deal with. Perhaps that was part of what had pushed her to look more into the arts of battle. Lúta was no slouch in fighting even if she had chosen to pursue healing, but over the course of the past seasons events she really was starting to wonder if she was meant to be a healer.

As she stepped in the ring she gasped as she realized her opponent would be Tamsyn. She hadn't had a chance to speak to the other woman yet, instead she offered a sympathetic smile and set her defenses. A little distraction might do them both some good.

Entering the tournament herself had been a very last minute decision on her part. She had come to watch her children and pack members compete, but as they got around to the fights for the older wolves, she felt compelled to throw her name in. It had been so, so long since she had been in a real fight and she had been trying to get back into the fighting shape she had once been in so now seemed like the perfect time to do it.

As she entered the ring she looked up and saw Luta across from her and found herself smiling warmly at the healer that had given them so much while Resin was still suffering. She felt like she'd have to speak with her properly soon since she hadn't had the chance to since Luta had begun to recover from her illness, but for now she had to focus on the fight at hand. She made a mental note to find Luta later or perhaps once they got back to the castle and then settled into her defenses with an easy grace of a well practiced warrior. She gave Luta a small nod and a grin, eager to feel that rush from a good fight once again.

I wanted to seek, but I got distracted

It had felt like years since she'd done a proper spar and she wasn't quite sure how aggressive to be in this fight. She returned Tamsyn's smile and decided to just go for it. Her legs coiled beneath her like springs and a moment later she was flying toward her opponent, kicking up grass and dirt with each stride. She attempted to slam her chest into Tamsyn's as she lifted her arms, seeking to wrap them around the base of her opponents neck and dig her claws in between the woman's shoulder blades for added hold. At the same time she attempted to close her jaws over the left side of Tamsyn's face. Her upper fangs aimed for above the eye and her lower ones for the corner of the woman's jaw.

Tamsyn readied herself as she watched Lúta prepare to spring, her muscles tensed and ready for whatever the larger woman would throw at her. As soon as Lúta lunged toward her Tamsyn took advantage of her smaller size and dropped down nearly to the ground while darting to the side, avoiding Lúta and preventing her from hitting their chests together. Lúta's paws fell back to the ground as they missed their intended target around her neck, but her sharp claws still sliced across her shoulder on the way down instead, leaving a moderate laceration in their wake. Tamsyn was quick on her paws and mostly avoided Lúta's snapping jaws, just feeling the teeth graze her scruff as she turned her head way and feeling a slight sting as her fangs cut into her skin and bit and left a small bite in the loser skin. Using the position she was in with her legs bent, crouched near to the ground slightly to the right of her opponent, Tamsyn pushed off the ground hard to reach up toward Lúta's side with open jaws to attempt a hard bite along the ribs, just behind the other woman's right elbow. In the same movement she went to make herself more perpendicular to Lúta to make the rest of her body harder to reach while still maintaining her usual defenses with her ears tucked back against her head, hackles bristled, head level with her back, and shoulders rolled forward.

Tamsyn Carpathius

I wanted to seek, but I got distracted

Tamsyn dodged to the side causing Lúta's attempted 'hug' to fail but her claws still managed to graze the other woman's shoulder. Her fangs also missed, instead just scraping Tamsyn's scruff. Lúta's paws struck the earth and she quickly kicked off with her hind legs seeking to pivot sharply to her right just as Tamsyn attacked, in an effort to bring them face to face once more. Her movement would not enable her to dodge Tamsyn's attack for instead of striking the side of her ribs the smaller woman's fangs would dig into Lúta's lower chest. Pain and blood began to flow but in some ways it helped. The sudden shock jolting her fully into the present moment. Lúta's head lanced down as she attempted to grab the back of Tamsyn's neck, just behind the woman's ears. Lúta hoped to get a good grip and turn the fight to her favor.

Lúta's sudden turn changed the target of her teeth, but she still tasted blood at the end of it so all in all not a failure of an attempt. She bit into the lower portion of the blue and gold woman's chest and then immediately attempted to retreat out of reach, but didn't succeed. Lúta's height over her gave her opponent more of an opportunity to reach the back of her neck more easily and she felt Lúta grip her neck just behind her ears. Tamsyn snarled at the sting and pain from the bite, but just focused on getting away and trying to make Lúta back down instead. She didn't want to try and wrench herself away to prevent causing herself any more damage than necessary so instead she tried to lift a paw to press it into the bite wound she had left on Lúta's chest, hoping that if she was able to hit the wound again the pain of it might convince her to release her neck and give up the fight.
