She was a little more friendly than say, towards the other boy in his pack, not that she caught on that they lived together or whatever. Relm was letting him prepare for the fight instead of just moving forward. It was a courteous gesture, at least from her. The last fight he had been in had been pretty disappointing, like his opponent had barely even tried. He'd been eager to try out his skills for real against opponents besides Artorias and the training dummies back home since he had been spending a lot of time on his training recently, but he was beginning to wonder if coming to the tournament was even worth it. However, when he saw that his fight for the next round was with Relm he perked back up and stood across from the pink-colored woman with a toothy grin. At least he was confident that Relm would give him a good fight.

He scoffed and smirked when she told him that she hadn't expected to see him here and he gave a roll of his shoulders. "Well, here I am." The grin returned to his lips when she mentioned not wanting to beat up a girl and he started getting into a solid defensive stance. "In this case? I'm very much looking forward to beating up a girl." Everyone in the tournament was equal opportunity as far as he was concerned. He set his paws into a firm, even stance and lowered his head to be even with his spine and cover his throat, ears tucking back out of the way all in one movement. "Bring it on!"

Though she had a small wonder that if he was okay with beating up a girl now, would he be willing to some other time? She hoped so. At least for her, it was more wise had they been strangers fighting over something silly. Or even if they were mild friends like they were and just wanted to brawl. He shouldn't be blinded by a girl, or someone who may not have acted tough. If she had learned anything from her father's behavior, it was that looks could be deceiving and you should put little trust into anyone. Relm let Ezra quickly gain his defenses, but she wouldn't ponder and waste time for too long. She rushed forward to close what distance they had between them. Where Ezra may have considered a few expected and normal attacks, Relm had something a little different in mind. She tried to move at him head on at first, a slight pull to his left side, but what was difficult was the sharp flip around as close as she wanted to Ezra. She moved to his left side with the duck of her head, attempting to go under him from the side just under his armpit. She still aimed for a casual bite, wanting to reach under his whole body and grab his back right leg under the hock. And finally, if she had been successful with any of it, she tried to push her weight up from under him, her spine to his ribs, hoping it could push him off balance and hopefully onto his side. Ezra was glad that Relm didn’t waste time in getting their fight started. She ran at him the second that they were both set in their battle ready stances and he braced for her attack. She came right at him till the last second and then ducked to the left. He expected something like slamming into his shoulder or maybe going for his scruff or side, but she didn’t do any of that.

Just as he was beginning to brace himself for some kind of attack at his left side, she suddenly ducked down and the hair on his back bristled as she tried to duck under him. As one might have guessed, that wasn’t a move he was exactly comfortable with as a male and it made him tense up, catching him off guard long enough for her to reach across and grab at his back, right leg.

Luckily, the weight he had been leaning to his left to brace for the attack that never came allowed him o maintain his balance, but her pushing up into him with her back was becoming an issue as he tried to get himself off of her and get her out from under him. With a scowl he finally decided to just use her attack against her. He went dead weight on top of her, reaching with one of his forelegs to try and wrap his paw around the hind leg that was closest to his to try and pull it out form under her. If he was going down he was taking her with him.

Ezra would come down on top of her, but it wouldn't make her let loose of the grip on his leg at first. He was a bit bigger than her and a little heavier so when his weight fell on top of her and he went to pull her out, it nearly knocked the wind out of her that made her let go of the grasp of his leg. He pulled her out from under him, it caused her to fall down on her right side. She snarled in response, he may have been successful as she had in his attacks but she quickly let out through an angry breath, "Are you even trying?" Relm didn't typically speak through battle, it was distracting. But she was expecting more from Ezra. She felt nothing if she didn't get a bite, it was her favorite part. And here Ezra was just laying on her and pulling on her. Her open jaw went forward again, this time aiming to grab his back left ankle. She was pretty vulnerable though in her laying position. Ezra felt Relm collapse under him, though it still took a second to get her to let go of his leg. As soon as she did he scrambled off of her and started to get back to his paws, but her angry mutterings about him not trying caught him off guard and made his brow furrow. Hadn't he gotten her on the ground? That seemed pretty successful in his eyes for a spar at least. His thoughts on her words distracted him just long enough for her to grab his left ankle, stopping him mid way from getting up and making him fall back to the ground beside her again with a huff. She wanted him to fight harder? Fine! With a snarl he turned his head and reached for her back left leg since it was closest to him with how they were laying, aiming his bite for her thigh. He still didn't bite as hard as he would if he was actually trying to do damage since he knew his teeth could do plenty of damage on their own, but she seemed to want a bite so he went to give her one.
