what lies out there

Indigo woke Duchess before anyone else was finding their way to wakefulness. There was only a hint of sun as he led her out of the impressive main entrance of the castle, their course heading towards the border and the beginnings of morning patrol. The young Fatalis’ normal routine included the first of the day’s patrol so he was bright and chipper as the frogs and crickets began to give way to the birds that sang the sun’s salutations. It was going to be a hot day, and the heavily furred beast was reminded why he preferred morning shift.
He didn’t just bring Duchess out to enjoy her company though, he knew she was training with Emersyn and he was curious what she had learned so far. He hadn’t mentioned that part yet, after they got to the plains he’d explain himself further about why he wanted her to take the morning patrol with him. Besides wanting some time together, he was still unsettled about everything they said to each other. She loved him and didn’t want to know the truth of what really stood between them. Nothing had changed, they snuggled at night and snuck away whenever they could, but that was why the feeling remained. He wasn’t acting in Duch’s best interest, but he continued along with her, destructive or not. Indigo liked being close to her.
Even if she didn’t appreciate the early hour he was eager to share a sunrise with her. The golden hour when magic seemed to linger over the lands. Sapphire eyes stole a glance beside him, he’d let her be grumpy with him as long as he got to watch her wade through the grass bathed in the sunlight of a new day. ”Are you awake yet?” His tone was sweet but he was obviously teasing. Indigo nuzzled the crown of her head and smiled softly, aiming to bring her attention to the gently changing colors in the sky above them. The moon hung on to visibility and the stars were slowly fading into obscurity as warm oranges and pinks began to reach across the sky.

Location: The Starlit Plains
Duchess had willingly left with Indigo when he woke her, though she wasn't quite used to being up so early. She slept well among the others, it was easy to feel safe and protected inside the castle walls and beside Indigo. Emersyn helped with the feeling too. She was quiet as she followed him out on his patrol. She didn't really expect anything from him, though there was the slight silent question to herself why he wanted to drag her out of bed. She wasn't mad or anything though, just groggy while she adjusted to the morning.
She hummed as he questioned her, a smile laid across her face in return though she wouldn't respond verbally. She tipped her head down as he nuzzled at her skull, taking a seat as he brought her attention up to the sky. She leaned into him, watching the fading stars and the lightening sky. "Beautiful." She mumbled, but appreciative to him for sharing this moment with her. She had seen the sun rise before, and she would probably see it again with Indigo especially once they branched off into the band. But it would always be special to her. Her eyes stayed up on the sky as she admired.

He was usually alone when he took his first patrol in the day, it was time where he could gather his thoughts and focus on the tasks he had ahead. It was usually the only time he could be alone without falling prey to the deeper thoughts, the sorrows, regrets, and desires that were better off buried deep in his soul. He already knew he couldn’t function properly when he let himself be surrounded by them, recovering from his injuries had been difficult enough. He wasn’t sure how well he would do mentally if he was forced on bed rest for much longer. Indigo was grateful that she hadn’t complained when he’d woken her up and welcomed her to patrol with him. He knew she was tired, but he’d make it worth it. Eventually.
She lowered herself to her haunches as he nuzzled against her, and he brought her attention to the sky above. He could see the grogginess in her eyes and smile as she looked up. Indigo settled close beside her, enjoying the feeling of her warmth in the cool of the morning. He grinned as he watched her, much more infatuated with her features as they reflected the beautiful colors above.
Indigo kissed her cheek softly and lifted himself back to his paws as he aimed to lead her onward. He wanted to test what she had learned, but he also wanted her to be more awake before he tried anything too strenuous. ”So, I’ve seen you working with Emersyn.” He observed quietly as he begin to introduce his idea. Onward they went, his pace much slower than he might have kept on a normal day. It wasn’t for Duch’s benefit, usually he was half rushing so he could return to the wolves of his band in the morning. Now he had Duchess to help distract him out here and he wasn’t as quick in his return.
”Feel like you’re learning a lot?” Duchess was hardly built to be a fighter, but if she wanted to learn how to defend herself and the band he wouldn’t dream of stopping her.

Indigo would ask about her training with Emersyn and she wasn't really uncomfortable but a little put off by the thought. She had wanted to learn to fight to protect her and Gypsy, but now they had Emersyn and maybe someone else that was good at fighting that Indigo had met outside of the pack. Still, she took Indigo's advice on learning to defend herself. It wouldn't hurt at least.
She shrugged slightly, the hint of anxiety in her features wasn't hard to spot, but she wasn't really sure why she felt so odd about the subject. Maybe it was because Indigo was going to train her? Of course that was still an option but there was no real reason she could pin point why she felt so off. "Uh, I mean, I don't really enjoy thinking about fighting." She confessed, relaxing a little bit, "But I do feel like I can compare it to hunting. The stance, the way you move, being prepared to change your course." They were all valid, though thinking about hurting another wolf wasn't something she liked to think about. Being capable for herself is what drove her through lessons. She depended on Indigo, maybe too much. But there was always that chance that he wouldn't be there when she needed him.
She exhaled a little too rough, like she had been holding that breath in without realizing it. She slowed, looking to Indigo but then catching her pace back up again, "I wouldn't mind learning something from you though too." It was genuine, if only to make him feel better. She knew Indigo was sensitive in different areas, but she didn't want him to think that she didn't necessarily want training. It was just a little harsh of a feeling for her.

He had to admit Duchess didn’t look entirely comfortable with his prying. She wasn’t built to be a fighter, but knowing she could at least defend herself he’d feel better. If she never had to use the information it would be best case scenario but the world was big and cruel, as he was realizing more and more. With every new wolf he invited under his wing, the darkness more fully revealed itself. Sometimes he wondered if his efforts were even worth anything, but when he saw any of them smile he knew it was. To them. Duchess was not smiling though, she let him see how she felt through her uncertain words and how she was acting.
”Only if you want to.” He told her softly, leaning forward to nuzzle her cheek comfortingly. They were lucky to have Emersyn now, he could relax a little knowing there was another guard looking out for the band. Of course that was no excuse to shirk his duties or take his eyes off the vulnerable for very long. Just knowing there was another as capable soothed him. ”What would you like to know?” He asked, wondering if she knew where she was lacking. ”We could spar, but only if you want to.” His voice was more suggestive than he meant for it to be but he was thinking about where a bit of good natured wrestling might lead to.

Duchess couldn't help but smile as Indigo asked for a spar, but it was more suggestive than it was serious. So she could only respond with, "Only if you promise you won't be too rough." Her voice was obviously suggestive, if that's what was on Indigo's mind than she wouldn't steer him away from it.
She turned away from him, taking a few steps to get distance between them before moving to face him again. She was hardly taking this seriously, it was known through the smirk on her face. But that didn't mean she was gong to play around the whole time. She still needed to show Indigo that her training was for something. It would at least put his mind at ease maybe.
She moved forward quickly, her front paws leaving the ground to hug around his shoulders as she went for a less than aggressive bite behind his cheek. This wouldn't have really been ideal had she been a real battle, and maybe she knew that. She would have had to be more logical in their size differences. But they weren't really being serious now, were they?

He did want to see where her self defensive skills were, that was true. Even more he wanted her to be comfortable in her abilities and potential to keep herself safe. He vowed, he made a promise to her, that he would keep her safe. Duchess took his shenanigans much more seriously than his serious request to test her skill. Duch turned on him, reminding him not to take things too rough on her. Indigo smirked, leaving no question where they were swiftly headed. The Fatalis man was gentle in his nature, in almost everything he did, but the suggestion of being anything but that with Duchess… He wouldn’t have given her much excitement in a real spar, he just wanted her to demonstrate anyway.
She stepped away from him and turned around, swiftly charging at him before wrapping her slender limbs around his neck. She snapped her jaws at him, but they were much more like kisses than biting. Indigo growled deeply as she went after him. Indigo let her hit him full force, she didn’t push him very hard anyway. He tilted his head so he could trace his sabers up her throat before one massive arm wrapped around her shoulders and held her to his chest before he swept her off her feet and pressed her into the ground. ”Wrong move.” He teased her, but had it really been a wrong move? He kissed her throat, suggesting the position she might have been in if it was not him on top of her.
Indigo released her, lifting himself from her body and stepped away so she could have another chance. His joints were bent and his head lowered, his hackles raised but he grinned darkly. He wanted so much more than a silly spar.

Though Indigo wasn't rough, he wouldn't let her get by so easily. She wasn't offended at all as he pinned her, he after all continued to lay kisses on her. He backed away to let her go again though she wasn't quite sure what she could do to surprise him or impress him. Another silly bite would pass the time, but she didn't really want to go for that. Instead she had a quick idea of something that wasn't quite practical, and she was sure wouldn't work if she tried.
Still she trust forward with heavy fast feet, eager to get the attempt in. She ducked as she was before him, spinning mid air and wanting to shoot between his front legs. Her body slid as her back hit the ground under her. She wouldn't go for a bite though, not in this area, instead wanting to reach up around his sensitive barrel in front of his hips in a hug but with her claws pulling through his fur.
His suggestive nature already had her mind on other things, so surly he would like the attempt to get under him. Wasn't that what he was asking for? Or maybe she was just making her own assumptions.

He didn’t wasn't to pull away from her when he had her in such a compromising position, but he wasn’t sure he’d seen enough yet. They weren’t being very serious, but he was enjoying making Duchess think on her feet and out of the box. His stance was ready, not not nearly for what she did, the mottled girl leapt towards him. Indigo prepared to do similar to her first attempt, but she went under instead of over. Indigo didn’t have time to react, she was under him and trailing her claws down his body as she slid.
”Ooh, hey!” He sounded alarmed but he couldn’t truly find displeasure in the ‘attack’ she chose. Indigo knew he could trust her, even in the not so high intensity training they were going through. ”That's quite the move.” He admitted, not wanting to disrupt her position too much while she was so precariously placed. Indigo bent his neck so he could find Duch’s gaze. ”You’ve got me… Now what?” As he spoke his voice deepened and grew more suggestive. He’d give her the victory and the spoils.

She didn't expect to catch him off guard. She figured her idea was a little out of the box, but she felt like he should have at least imagined a lower attack if she was at least thinking logically. She could have been pinned by him all day, but she figured they both wanted something a little different.
His neck craned as he asked her what would happen next. Her own head popped out slightly to find his gaze with a devilish smirk, "Well, if I were anyone else," her voice was exaggeratedly clever, but he should have known the predicament he was in. With out looking and instead keeping her hard gaze in his own eyes, one of her paws gently rose to place on the sensitive area just in front of his sheath, "I'm sure you'd be in a bit of trouble."
She was at least a little proud of getting surprise out of him in their "spar", though she knew had they really faced off she was probably no match for someone as big and skilled as him. This seemed to be more what he was after anyway.

He maybe expected her to go low, but he wasn’t expecting her to dive between his legs. He was proud of her quick thinking, and if she had really been in a mess this would have been a good place to gain the upper hand. Maybe he didn’t need to be quite so worried over her. What he was worried about was Duch’s plans and where she was putting her paws. Her bright dual toned eyes met him and he wasn’t comforted by the smirk that played on her features. She knew where she had him and Duchess was going to use her leverage to her best ability. More so than the glint in her eye he felt the way her paws touched at sensitive places. He chuckled breathily, his nerves showing through in the sounds.
”I think I’m in good paws.” He spoke confidently, but there was room for caution. She had him quite tangled up. They were both very much aware where they wanted this silly spar to go, but in that moment Indigo was hinged entirely on Duchess. She literally had him in her delicate paws and he was beholden to her actions. There weren’t many wolves he would allow such a privileged position, but Duchess knew him deeper than most. He trusted her completely. "But I'm at your mercy." He rumbled again, sapphire eyes still lingering on her prone form.

She nearly giggled herself, a hum through her throat while he showed some sort of uncomfortably or something of the sort. "Don't tell me you're nervous." She teased him, her paw gently brushing against his stomach as it left him.
He was at her mercy, usually it was the other way around. Though she may not have actually thought of her own upper hand in this position. Surely especially after all this time Indigo could have pulled her out or removed himself, but clearly that's not what he wanted. At least knowing she wouldn't seriously maim him here because it was her.
Her head pulled back under him and her nose gently trailed around his delicate parts, she had never done anything like this, but it seemed to come naturally. A quiet chuckle left her before she spun back around onto her stomach and started to find her way out from under him, "Don't get too excited, Indigo." She teased again, now escaping him with her rump turned towards him. Her neck curved to look back at him though, a devilish expression in her nature, "Unless you want everyone watching."

”Nervous? Never.” He chuckled through his teeth as she traced her paws over his fur and drug her claws to the skin. The longer she remained poised beneath him the more difficult Indigo found himself subject to her whims with how she had him positioned. He wouldn’t and couldn’t complain, she wasn’t going to get rough with him. Other things maybe. The way her nose trailed up his skin made his whole body quiver against her touch. His breathing quickened but he tried to hide it beneath a wide grin when she finally released her hold and rolled up from underneath him. She teased him as she found her paws and looked back over her shoulder at him temptingly.
Indigo shifted as well, aiming a suggestive nuzzle at her hip, touching the scar that marred her skin. Her words challenged him, but he wasn’t up for chancing anything. ”I am no performer.” He laughed at the thought of going at it in front of anyone was slightly horrifying. Indigo nudged her hip and trailed his nose up her spine, his chest pressed against her rump. He worked up her back and trailed off up her neck where he could hardly reach from his position. His touch soft but suggestive. They had been on a patrol but that fact was long forgotten by now as he was ready to cart her off somewhere more private. What was the best way to say lets go back to my place when they shared a room? ”Want to go somewhere we can be alone?” He questioned her quietly as he positioned himself next to her shoulder.

Her fur bristled as she felt the tingle in her skin when Indigo trailed up her entire body. Her neck stretched up as she was looking up at him nearly upside down, still with a tempting smirk. "You sure you're asking and not telling me?" She questioned, teasing again as if privacy was a thing she really needed. They had done things in the infirmary, behind a closed door of course. She was willing to when he was hurt and they were snuggled up with the rest of the band. But sure, being out in the middle of the plains was just a little too obvious. She didn't mind living on the edge but she did understand such boundaries and reputations. Still, they were young and liked to have fun.
She moved forward without saying much, almost leading if Indigo let her. She moved back towards the castle, only toward the back of it facing the ocean. As long as they were out of view of the watch towers they should have been fine. There were some vines and shrubbery that grew along the walls. And then just hope a patroler didn't walk by she supposed.
Thinking they were out of sight, she turned back to face him, her more relaxed expressions from the walk turned back into a lustful, challenging smirk as temptation took over her again, "You going to fight for it or what?"

Knowing someone could potentially hear them versus someone definitely watching the pair of them in deepest intimacy was much different in Indigo’s mind. Maybe if he was eased into the idea a little more he would have been more accepting of the potential but as it was Indy was far to shy for all of that. Duchess teased him about it, but he scowled playfully at her. He was quite certain he wasn’t a performer, especially not like this. Duchess dropped it rather quickly, feeling similar to he was. He delicate limbs pulled her forward as she led the pair of them back towards the castle. It wasn’t his favorite place to enjoy each other but he wouldn’t question her.
What he didn’t really expect was finding this secret place at the side of the castle, the walla blocked out the sun and this was not a place frequented by members of the pack. They might still have an unexpected visitor but it wasn’t near as likely, it would just add a little extra danger to their deeds. Duchess turned back towards him, a suggestive smirk playing on her features as she challenged him. Like they had been half sparring she wasn’t through with their game.
Indigo lowered his brows, his expression sly as he lowered his head ears swiveling as he assessed her and acted as though he was calculating his next move. The corners of his dark lips pulled back into an eager grin before he moved. His joints were bent and Indigo suddenly leapt at her. He aimed both to use his huge paws to trip her up and bring her to the ground. Indigo would aim to pin her with his chest and bright his long fangs to her throat, trailing them up the vulnerable skin above her life force.

Indigo was able to take full control of her, but even if they had faced off for real she was really no match for him. If she were ever in a real situation, she would probably find a way to flee. But knowing how to defend herself and the advantages of her smaller size would help with that at least.
She let out a less than threatening growl, but the growl transformed into a giggle as he went for her throat. Her paws pushed up into the thick of his mane as if she had the strength to push him off of her. It was clearly silly, she knew she couldn't, only if he wanted to.
Her eyes more gentle as she settled from her giggling and looked up at him. Her claws carefully ran through his mane as they trailed down his chest. Her head tilted as she questioned, "You didn't want to continue where we left off?" Her eyes gently glanced between them before returning to his gaze, she moved forward with he intention of a long kiss, he at least deserved it.

Duchess submitted without much of a fight, had he been less distracted Indigo would have worried about her being in the same position with Draco or someone of equal ill intent. As it was the Fatalis enjoyed taking control of her smaller frame. The growl that bubbled up in her throat drove him onwards instead of away and he pressed closer against her with the weak attempts she gave him. He grinned as she giggled as his fangs traced the contour of her throat. She was well aware there was no danger in the suggestive way he handled her body. Duch pushed against his chest but he was made privy to just how much stronger he really was than she. Her best efforts would never be enough, and feeling that power over her added fuel to the flames that were already licking at his belly.
He pulled back slightly as she quieted so he could look into her deep dual toned eyes. She grinned as she trailed her paws through his thick fur. As she spoke, and glanced at his form, Indigo was reminded of the last time he had with Aslatiel and the way she used her tongue on him as he thought about the position Duchess had put him in. His thoughts were interrupted as she leaned into for another kiss, this one deeper and full of the passion that they shared in one another. It didn’t matter what else was going on their bodies sang to one another and he craved the feeling of having her closer.
He didn’t have much chance to murmur his answer as their lips were brought together and he eagerly gave into desire. ”Hmm,” he mumbled through their kiss before finally pulling away, his expression adoring and needy as he ran his cat-like claws through her soft fur. ”Maybe you should remind me.” He teased as he moved from her lips to her jaw line, nibbling softly there as he held himself back and basked in her temptation.

Her lips moved forward as he pulled away, but while he let out words she relaxed back into him. She hummed herself as he suggested, but she couldn't deny how much she enjoyed being at his will. It was more of her nature to be controlled by him, as silly or as serious as his intentions were. Indigo could have been much more deadly with her, and she would have allowed it.
She only looked at him with a more than content grin for a few more seconds before leaning into his lips again with a few back to back pecks unlike their usual deeper kisses. And then she quickly disappeared under his chest as she scooted beneath him and moved around back to where they were at the plains.
She felt silly coming down here at first, a little giggle as she hesitated to bring her muzzle back around this sensitive area but moved into it without much holding her back after. She explored him, discovering things on her own of course. Her body was small enough to be hidden under him especially in a shaded setting. She stopped momentarily before instructing, "Roll over." It was a quiet wish, she would have stayed where she was had he not wanted to, but she would have been more comfortable this way. Her paws grasped into his soft belly, "I've never done this before." She didn't waste time to move into it again, this time not disappointing, or so she hoped.

Her answer was a few soft kisses against his lips, nowhere near the deeper affections they usually shared. Duchess was distracted by more than his lips as she pulled away gently and wriggled away so she could reposition herself. Indigo felt her pressed against his belly as her attention shifted lower and lower. There was hesitation for a moment and then she was swiftly approaching the point of no return. Little grumbles of pleasure left him as she explored ever inch of him. Indigo rumbled deep in his chest as his eyes rolled to the back of his head before she asked him to roll over.
Indigo leaned over so his belly was facing the castle and he was mostly hiding her dainty frame from anyone that wasn’t looking directly down at her. Duchess gently grabbed his belly as she admitted her inexperience. ”Could have fooled me.” She may not have but that certainly didn’t stop her. Indigo wasn’t very well versed either, but he wouldn’t stop her from learning on him either. Duchess eagerly returned to where she had been, Her teeth grazing dangerously against him as she held him hostage/ Indigo didn’t want it any other way, he put his trust into her fully and even if someone might have heard him he didn’t hold back any vocal encouragement.
Warning: Indigo should be considered a Mature Character.
