The feeling of walking beside her again was completely indescribable. Whenever they were apart Indigo longed to be beside Aslatiel again and no matter how much time past the instant relief when he saw her was real. They were forbidden to be together, but there wasn’t anything he wanted more in the entire world than to have her here beside him like this. There was only one thing he would change, and that was the curve of her frown. Indigo was quiet and subdued as they walked, but he still held onto the smile she cause on his  features. However much her sorrow pained him. She needed to see that he could smile for the both of them.

There were more than a couple moments that Indigo had debated about scooping her up onto his back to carry her the rest of the way, but he wouldn’t take her independence. He wanted to wrap her in his arms and hide her away from the world and its sorrows, but he knew that was just as infeasible as physically fighting the grief. All he could do was what they were doing now, walking together towards camp, he was going to take her away from it all if only for a little while.

He didn’t suppress his urge to give her little kisses throughout the journey, he was careful while they were close to the Armada but his affections were much more flagrant the closer they came to the camp. Indigo wished desperately they could spend the rest of their lives drowning in each other’s affection, but the hard truth was their reality. He made his band and she had created her own family, and even though they were so close together right now they had never been further apart. Indigo tried to grin through the painful shock to his broken heart as the thought shook him.

Indigo led Aslatiel towards the camp, right where the Hallows had once resided. They were far enough away from the Armada to have their privacy but close enough trading, visiting, and traveling between the two was easy if not completely convenient. He brought her to the Nomad camp. Goats milled about eating vegetation, but remained close to the camp. Packs and bed rolls were arranged around a small hearth in a peaceful clearing by the falls. Indigo looked toward Aslatiel with sapphire eyes as he presented her the camp, and gave her a moment to acclimate before calling everyone together to meet her.

He leaned against her shoulder and watched her pretty features for a moment. "Welcome home," he offered quietly. He smiled softly, bringing his blue gaze to her precious purple once more. Nothing felt more right than those words and having her here with him now. She was meant to be at his side and this tiny taste was everything he wanted.

Indigo convinced her to go with him to meet the band that he'd formed. Part of her wanted to, but a larger part wanted absolutely nothing to do with this group of women that Indigo was no doubt sleeping with. Aslatiel would try hard to hide her true feelings about the whole ordeal, but if she was pushed, it would all come pouring out. Her emotions ran thick and were highly unpredictable since the birth of the puppies.

As they walked, Asla's expression continued to be one of unhappiness. Now that she was apart from the pups, she didn't have to pretend. She could simply feel. It wasn't fair to Indigo, but he was the only one aside from maybe Mojito that she could show these emotions to. Not that she would show them to the floppy eared man, but it was a possibility if she needed. By the time they arrived at his band though, Aslatiel would slide that mask back on like a second skin. The inner turmoil would be covered up, smothered by her natural confidence.

The kisses that Indigo stole were bittersweet. She loved him like no other and she was overjoyed that they were in one another's presence, but deep down, she didn't want to be around anyone. Not her children, her family, her brother's harem... not even Indigo himself. Still, it was nice to get away from the pack and all of the eyes that were constantly upon her.

As the pair arrived at the Falls, Asla's gaze moved around the clearing, eyeing the livestock, the crude sleeping spaces, the modest fire pit. This wasn't what she wanted for Indigo. The man deserved to be a king; not a shepherd. As they stopped, Indigo spoke and his words cut through Aslatiel like ice. She screamed inside, railing against his welcome, but externally, the scarred fae simply smiled. Home? No. This would never be her home. Never in a million years.

Duchess still wasn't feeling quite herself but she was starting to settle more as they set up camp at the falls and could relax a little more. She spent a good amount of her time hunting for the rest of the band, though the ones who were more capable also helped where they could and she tried to do the same. She really spent time in decorating as if that would make the area more comfortable, even if she felt like it was only for herself. She usually made bouquets of wildflowers to set around their sleeping areas and cart while they were idle. She picked fresh flowers for her crown too. Her time was pretty evenly spent in responsibilities and her "fun" time. But she also felt like getting alone time with Indigo now was harder than it ever had been. They still had to provide and protect each other, but maybe she was just on edge which wasn't necessarily out of character for her.

When Indigo called, she came out from around the other side of the falls, spotting him standing with another small woman. She had assumed it was another wolf he would recruit into the band, but as she grew closer she immediately caught the familiar scent of the Armada girl. She stayed incredibly calm, still coming to meet them but internally she was having a hidden panic attack. She didn't want to make assumptions really, of course her mind had gotten the best of her over what she believed was happening. But she felt like a completely different woman today than the last time she scented the woman on Indigo. And she tried hard not to think too harshly of her.

She went to bump her head gently into Indigo's chest when she made it to them, stepping backwards to sit before them and was having an impossible time even looking at the woman, but she was able to sneak a glance just as she left Indigo's reach and offer a slight nod before her eyes went to the ground. She waited for Segin specifically to arrive, moving closer to him whenever he settled, wanting at least their paws to touch while she felt uncomfortable in the presence of the new woman beside Indigo. She may not have been showing the panic inside, but it was probably more clear at least how awkward and uncomfortable she felt.

Traveling with the group had been a wonderous thing. New smells and sounds. New places and sensations. Gypsy had been fearful at first, but having acquired Bertha, it gave the young woman a newfound sense of freedom. She and the sheep had become fast friends and Bertha looked after her in a very motherly sort of way. Gypsy couldn't imagine why the traders had wanted to part with the sheep. Yes, Bertha was mouthy and bossy, but she was a good soul. Gypsy could tell.

"Yer mahn has brought someone new," the sheep spoke, still chewing a mouthful of grass. Gypsy perked as she sat in the middle of the herd, a pile of plucked flowers between her paws. The tiny lady was trying to learn to make flower crowns ever since she'd heard Duchess mention one. So far, she wasn't having much luck. "Could you lead me there, please?"

A few moments later, the tiny, white and purple fae, led by her four horned black sheep, arrived in front of Indigo and his guest. A small, shy smile formed, though Gypsy kept her chin tucked against her snowy chest. She had grown out of her shell a bit, but she was still incredibly shy, even with the wolves of the band. The minuscule fae sat beside her sheep and waited for Indigo to introduce his friend.

Segin had throughly enjoyed living in the castle during the time that he spent living with the others in The Hallows, but once they got out on the road and began their travels he really began to feel like he could spread his wings. He enjoyed the traveling and exploring he did with Duchess, he liked finding berries to bring back for Gypsy, he liked stealing time away with Indigo, he loved finding the softer side of Emersyn and letting her enjoy him as well. There was so many things he enjoyed about each of the individuals in his makeshift family and he couldn't be more thrilled to be living with them like this.

He was lingering around the edges of their camp when he heard Indigo's call, his head popping up with curiosity. Tucking away the herbs he had been sorting through, he got up and trotted over to where Indigo was waiting, seeing Duchess and Gypsy approaching him already. His silver gaze landed on a far smaller woman beside their leader and his brows lifted with surprise. A curious glance went between the woman and Indigo before he looked back to her again, recognizing that her scent had similar notes to Indigo's and also that she smelled like one of the packs they had passed on their way to set up camp here.

Segin gave the new comer a friendly grin despite the less than happy expression she wore. He just couldn't help his excitement at the idea that they were finally getting to meet Indigo's sister that he had been told about if this was really who she was. He noticed that Duchess hadn't said anything yet and neither had Gypsy, but he was less surprised about her. The tiny, sweet girl was always quiet. Well, being the personable wolf he was, he wasn't just going to sit without at least introducing himself. He dipped his head to her, saying, "I'm Segin, a pleasure to meet you!"

From the moment the band had left the sanctuary of the castle, Emersyn had been on high alert. Beyond knowing there was a constant looming threat over herself, the road alone could be perilous and fraught with danger. As the band's chief means of security beyond Indigo, she felt personally responsible for the safety of every living being in it. She stayed close to the rear of the pack, making sure nothing tried to flank them while Indy led them up into Boreas, then eastward toward the coast. They set up camp near some falls, close to one of the packs. That gave Em some comfort. If they were ambushed and needed help, surely at least someone would respond if they called, right? While the band got settled in, Emersyn had begun a patrol around the forest near the falls, checking to make sure there were no lingering threats anywhere. She had been up near the top of the falls and scoping out the terrain when Indy's call went out.

At first, Em had been panicked that something was going down, but there was a noticeable lack of alarm in their leader's howl. No, nothing was wrong, he was summoning everyone for some reason. Peering down the cliffside at the band down below near the base of the falls, she spotted Indigo's massive purple form with a small dot of tan. With a curious cock to her head, Emersyn made her way back down the cliff, nimbly bounding from ledge to ledge to make short work of the trek. She walked the last bit down to join the rest of the band as they assembled to greet the newcomer. Duo-toned eyes considered the small fae while she hovered near the back of the group. The woman was much, much smaller than Indigo, though her body looked as if she'd spent every day since her birth training for war. She was pretty though, and her violet eyes were striking. Her scent was heavy with the smell of the nearby pack, but it was also faintly reminiscent of Indigo's.

She didn't need to be a super sleuth to piece together who this was. She could tell from the way Indigo looked at her, the admiration and love in his eyes so heavy he appeared drunk with the emotion. This was Aslatiel, his sister and his soul mate. Emersyn didn't introduce herself right away, always on guard, letting Indigo make the introductions as their leader should. She was intrigued by the fae's presence though. She knew the two had been forbidden from being together—was she defying rules and sneaking out to be with them? No... to be with him?

Indigo usually thought himself a perceptive man, he could see the distress easily in those he was close to, but as Aslatiel hid her deeper feelings Indigo believed her because he wanted to. He couldn’t see the strife and reluctance in her because he had no desire to. He wanted her to mesh with this little family he created, deep down he wanted her to be a part of it but even in his heart he knew that wasn’t a real possibility, and yet he still held onto hope.

He didn’t judge his sister ever, he was concerned with her state of mind though and he hoped that being away from the pack and the pups, meeting these wonderful wolves he called his band, might return that beautiful smile he loved so much. He hadn’t taken off the vibrant feather she gave him and woke into his mane, a constant visual reminder of the one that held his heart. He showed her the camp proudly, this was the culmination of all of his hard work. The herd of goats, their cozy little camp, this might have been the second dream he wished but he was content. He wanted to be beside Aslatiel to proudly stand at her side as her mate, but that dream was unrealistic and would only cause sorrow if he chased it.

The Fatalis smiled down at Aslatiel and her grin as the members of his band filed in. Duchess appeared from the falls, her slim frame approaching and offering her usual affection in greeting but she was quiet. Indy grinned and gave her a small nuzzle at the top of her head as she made herself comfortable before them. Gypsy was quietly led by the dark furred sheep they acquired together. The animal had helped Gypsy so much since being acquainted, she acted as a seeing eye sheep and gave Gypsy much more freedom than she had ever had before.

Segin and Emersyn appeared before them, the former being the only one that introduced himself. The sweet man had always been friendly and larger than life. Em quietly made her way to the edge of the group, always careful and cautious she was the second line of defense and she took her job seriously. Each of them was essential to the band and took their position seriously. They all had their place in his life and Indigo wanted to show that to his sister. He’d seen her claw her way to the top of the Armada’s ranks, he wanted her to see and know he was fighting alongside her and succeeding.

”Everyone, meet my sister, Aslatiel.” He grinned down at her, the love and adoration he felt for this woman obvious in his expression. ”Aslatiel, this is my band.” He was proud of the wolves he brought together. ”Duchess, Gypsy, Segin, and Emersyn.” They were missing Cosette, but he had been worried about her since before they left. She was quiet and secretive and he felt like he was losing her. ”And Bertha.” He gestured to each wolf and chuckled when he pointed to the four horned sheep.

This was maybe one of the happiest moments of his life, he was purposefully ignoring the tension that was building.

"Aslatiel"

The very first one to arrive was a black and purple woman. She had the fucking audacity to touch Indigo in front of her. Aslatiel wasn't some jaded little chit. She knew that Indigo was fucking someone here. She didn't know that he was fucking all of them, but she would bet everything that this sulking bitch was getting a healthy dose of her brother regularly. Aslatiel's body went rigid and her creamy pelt bristled, but she kept herself from biting the woman's face for Indigo's sake. Even he would have to see how rude it was to flaunt whatever relationship they had in front of her. Asla would never dream of looking at Naiche or Mojito in Indigo's presence. In her world, Indigo was the most important thing and no one else deserved her attention when they were together. This situation... was going to be a mess.

Next came a sheep and a blind girl. The sheep stared hard at Asla and Asla stared hard right back. There was nothing to be concerned about there. Blind wolves were useless.

Third was a man. The thought quickly popped into her head that Indigo might be fucking him too, but she pushed it away. No... Indigo would never stoop so low. Right? The brute was bubbly and good natured, but Aslatiel didn't return his smile or his greeting. She couldn't. Not with such disgusting thoughts in her mind.

Fourth, a woman. A rather large woman. This one seemed better than the others. Well put together, in a sense. Aslatiel could see the build of a warrior beneath the dusty purple coat and noted the guarded look. That was what she had been expecting. Not sulking or bubbliness or blindness. Asla had been expecting distrust and wariness. Rightly so. They didn't know her other than what Indigo may have told them.

Indigo spoke again and soon Aslatiel had names to put to the faces, though the purple brute had given his own. The purple woman, Duchess, curled in on herself like a coward. Galactic orbs stared daggers at the fae's bowed head and Asla didn't try to hide it. If they knew Indigo, then they should very well have known what she meant to him. Unless he was keeping their relationship a secret, which she didn't think he'd do. Ah, but that thought made her suspicious of her brother. Not one to beat around the bush, Aslatiel ignored the group of wolves and raised her gaze to Indigo instead. "Do they know about us?" she asked, unable and unwilling to hide her irritation at the whole ordeal. When he nodded, she nodded in turn. "Then they should know not to touch you while I'm here."

This had been a bad idea. Someone was going to get hurt or lose a limb. Maybe even a face. With all of the deep, endless sadness that she had been going through, the unbridled rage that bubbled just below the surface was delicious and welcome. It wouldn't take much to bring violence spewing from her. Who it was directed at was yet to be seen, but she had a feeling that sinking her teeth into the cowering purple bitch would taste the most divine.

With a pull of her head, Asla motioned for Indigo to follow her. She led him off, away from the band and into the thicker trees around the falls. She'd met his group like he'd wanted. Now she wanted nothing to do with them. This was supposed to be a break from the Armada. From sadness. Aslatiel tasted fury which was familiar, but she had never before tasted resentment. Not towards Indigo, of all wolves. It was foreign and very, very unwelcome.

Duchess' heart felt like it overloaded when Indigo introduced the girl as his sister, she was the only one who hadn't known down to that detail. But it was to her own fault, not Indigo's. She refused to listen to him, but she didn't think this was the part he wanted to tell her about all the time ago. She just thought he was sleeping with someone in the Armada, maybe even the girl he couldn't be with. And now it was all coming together like a punch to the face.

But her panic didn't show through her, just the consistent flat, not so happy expression. She couldn't hide that she wasn't happy, but still, she tried to put on a show. "It's nice to meet you." She still couldn't find it in herself to look up at the woman, but at least she tried? Tried to be nice and accepting? Even though she was feeling an utter disgust deep down. She was handling Indigo and the others, but Indigo and his sister? She never thought meeting family would be like this.

Her heart beat faster when the girl had called her out, though she wasn't paying attention to the daggers from her gaze because she just simply wasn't paying attention. By the time she turned and went to lead Indigo off away from the group, Duchess' nearly silent breath was fast. She looked up to see Indigo leaving with her, stepping forward like she was about to shout at him, like she could get him to stay. Stay with anyone but the woman. But she stayed silent. She wasn't able to look at anyone else in the band before she turned off herself in the other direction, and ran off into the further lands with tears falling off her face.

Gypsy's eyes widened as Aslatiel, Indigo's sister, sent a biting reply and walked away from the band. She had imagined that the woman might be upset to meet a band of her brother's lovers, but she didn't have to be rude about it. Bertha spoke her mind as usual. "Weeel that one's a nasty bit o' work, in'she?" When Indigo walked away to follow Aslatiel, Bertha followed with, "He ceartainly only has eyes for her, eh?" Gypsy gave a little hush sound to the sheep and the sheep gave a little scoff in return. "Weeel we maight as weel go back to the goats, eh?" Gypsy couldn't argue with that.
