Dagrún yawned and stretched before rolling onto her right side and gazing out across the range. She'd made a bed of fallen leaves and she'd only meant to stay there for a little bit but the moment she'd flopped down it was like a great exhaustion washed over her. She couldn't explain it. It wasn't like she'd been doing that much. In truth she was still pouting over her losses at the tournament. Knocked out in the first round! How could she ever face her parents after that? She sighed heavily, the leaves nearest to her nose scattering away from her. Maybe she should do some exploring. She'd heard about a place called the Time's Cavern that lay south of Fireside. That might be worth a look, but she wasn't keen to go alone.

After Gwynevere had been kind enough to heal his wounds on the way home from the tournament he’d felt the weight of the world return to his shoulders. He’d lost in the first round, disgraced. Thankfully he hadn’t seen anyone watching his match, he hadn’t really seen anyone from home except for his sister. His only consolation was that he didn’t think she did any better than he had. Ysmir was so ashamed of himself that he hadn’t even lingered at the festival, he just couldn’t even show his face. He was having trouble letting himself back into the social circle of the pack too. He was ashamed of himself, he should have done so much better, and yet here he was slinking around with Barenziah on his shoulder.

Neither could miss the form of Dagrún laying nearish the barn. This was where the two of them spent the most time together, it was fitting he found her now. He couldn’t help the way his ears pinned to his skull as he approached. He didn’t feel like he had the right to hold his head so high after his performance in front of Ashen. Ysmir tilted his head curiously as he approached his sister, the white raptor fluttered her feathers as she steadied herself on his back. Her gaze was sharp, but somehow similarly curious. However the gyrfalcon looked much more proud than her master.
Ysmir is mostly mute, he also has a Gyrfalcon named Barenziah and an Arctic Fox called Krah who are likely nearby.

Dagrún looked up as she heard someone approach and saw that it was her brother, Ysmir. Like her he had been knocked out in the first round of the tournament. Some pride of the family they were. "Hey Mir… guess we both need to work on our fighting, huh?" She slowly got to her feet and shook out her coat. She should probably practice sparring with her brother but she wasn't really in the mood, at least not yet. "I'm thinking of going on a little adventure down to Time's Cavern. Would you want to go? Might be nice to travel a bit and get our minds off the tournament. Should be a good warm up!" It would be a long walk and that might help build up their stamina. That had been part of her problem during the match. She just burnt herself out to quickly.

She greeted him, and immediately brought up the results of the tournament, obviously as focused on their performance there as he was. His two toned gaze was averted in shame, he could still scarcely believe that he had lost. He felt like he was better in every way to the boy that beat him, it was just dumb luck that allowed him to fail. Next time. He knew he had to redeem himself, but how? Dagrun spoke up again, offering a reprieve and a chance to think about something other than how the rest of the pack was looking down on him now.

Ysmir shrugged in answer, he didn’t feel strongly either way if they remained here near the barn or miles and miles away. The gyrfalcon on his shoulder ruffled her feathers, never having been any kind of fan of the underground. As a creature of the sky, dens and caves were unnatural to her. The bird was nothing if not loyal, and would remain with the boy wherever he went. That tricky fox on the other paw… he’d lost track of him three times already today. He gestured lightly, allowing for his sister to take the lead wherever she wished to take him.

Dagrún watched as Ysmir looked away. She could understand that feeling of shame and that hunger to do better. "We'll just have to practice and do better next time, huh?" Dag told herself that she'd have more chances to prove herself. She wasn't going to be taken out of the running that easily. She'd just need to find that girl that defeated her and fight her again.

Ysmir shrugged at Dagrún's suggestions but gestured with his paw for her to lead the way. She bounced forward, tail wagging as she led the way southward. It was always a different experience traveling with her brother Ysmir, he was so quiet. But in some ways that was nice. She didn't necessarily feel the need to constantly punctuate the silence with her own talking. For now she opted to travel in silence but she would certainly have more to say when they arrived.
