Come down, come down sweet reverence

They had decided to head north first and get that one out of the way before the weather got any worse. Not that it was bad now, but Jynn didn't trust autumn in the north, especially not with the way the weather had been lately. They worked their way north until they hit a pack border. From what Jynn understood this was the only pack in the north.

It was a gorgeous late fall morning in the north. A number of tall pine trees dotted the snowy landscape though it was clear the living up north was harsh. Some of the lower branches were very sparse with their leaves and a number of branches were short or broken. At the base of a number of trees were clumps of bushes, adorned wit crowns of snow. A few inches of snow covered the ground and dotted the upper branches of the pines. Rays of morning sunlight streamed through the forest, making the snow sparkle as it struck the ground. It really was a lovely place. Such a shame she couldn't go farther into the forest.

Pyralis let her companion lead. She was starting to think that venturing north was not such a great idea for they'd barely gotten two territories in and already the ground was covered in snow. Not that she was opposed to cold weather necessarily but in her old age she much preferred the warmer weather of the southern regions. She scented the ground as they worked their way around the pack border, continuing to head north. She paused at one point to sniff at tracks on the ground. Elk. She was surprised to find elk here but she supposed the small forest of pine trees was a welcome source of shelter and food.

Jynn kept on her way, making sure to give the border some space but every so often sneaking closer for a better look while making sure not to cross the boundary. She didn't want her journey cut short by a confrontation with pack wolves. She slowed a bit and glanced back at the older woman to make sure Pyr was keeping up before she continued on her way. There were clouds starting to move in up ahead and she wanted to find a place to shelter before the storm hit, especially up north one always had to be prepared for a snow storm. "You doing ok back there?"

Pyralis continued to pause every so often to filter through the scents she was finding near the border, in particular picking up the scents of any prey animals as well as pack members. She wanted to get something out of this trip besides just exercise. She glanced up as the younger woman walked away from her. At least the view was good. She chuckled to herself then snorted when Jynn asked if she was doing ok. "Listen whelp, I've been walking up and down these continents well before you were born. I'm doing just fine."

Jynn chuckled at the old woman's response. "Ok, ok, easy there grandma. Just trying to keep an eye out for you. I don't want you to fall and break a hip." She definitely didn't want to try and drag the old woman out of here. Jynn might be young but she was built for speed not strength and the old woman was a good deal bigger than her. A bird called out and darted through the sky. Its brilliant red color caught her attention. "Oh look a cardinal!" She watched the bird for a moment before continuing, her smile fading as the trees grew thinner and thinner.

"If I fall and break a hip it'll be right after I kick your ass." She called out after the stilt-fox. Kids these days. Thought they were invincible. Pyralis ignored the cardinal and instead focused on the journey ahead. The trees were starting to grow fewer and fewer between until they left that territory and started toward the next one. Pyralis took note of the wind and she eyed the amassing clouds in the north. They'd better not linger. Pyralis did not want to get caught in a blizzard near an unknown pack. A storm could force them to call for the alpha.
