I wanted to seek, but I got distracted

Lúta took a few steps back as she examined the new room she was moving into. Her courtyard den had flooded and so she was working on moving into the castle. She had been working throughout the morning to get the room set up, working her way up and down the stairs. She had to admit it was good exercise.

She'd hung a number of dried herbs from the wooden beams stretched across the ceiling, particularly lavender. In addition she'd set a few potted plants near the window, marigold and chamomile. She hoped they'd do well and she could have a source of easily available fresh herbs for a bit longer.

Lúta had filled the cabinets with tins of teas and other healing related items. Near the small fireplace she had a stack of wood drying as well as a set of layered furs that would be her bed. She pulled in her mountain goat skin that had finally dried, setting it down upon a deer hide.

Heavy rains had forced some of the outside occupants of the pack to move inside. This change wasn't lost on Eska and, despite still healing from the grievous wounds in her neck, she felt compelled to help. There was one fae with coloring like the dark side of a sunrise, that kept going back and forth. The brindled lady noted the den that the woman had gone into and decided to help her shift her belongings from one place to another.

Padding to the pile of items that the woman had sitting out in the sun to dry, Eska took the handle of one basket between her teeth and moved back into the castle. The golden eyed dame followed the damp pawsteps to the room that the other wolf had chosen. She gave the doorway a scratch with her paws to alert the other of her presence before placing the basket inside. "You looked as though you could use some help. The task will go faster with two of us." Eska offered the faint smile that she'd gotten from her mother, the edges of her sulfur eyes lifting ever so slightly.

"Eska"

Lúta fussed a bit with the arrangement of the hides until she was satisfied with it. As she turned toward the door one of her pack mates entered with one of her baskets. She smiled warmly. "Ah, yes, thank you. I appreciate the help." Lúta was struck by how familiar the other woman seemed and she couldn't help but feel that they'd met before. Maybe they had and in her earlier illness she'd just misplaced the face. Something about the other woman was distinctly reminiscent of Resin though and it made her heart ache a bit at the thought. "I'm Lúta. I don't believe we've officially met?"

The woman thanked her and offered a smile. Eska offered one of her own bare smiles in return. Not because she wasn't happy to meet the sunset fae, but because that was just how Eska smiled. "You're welcome," she offered in return. "Shall we grab the rest?" With a pull of her shoulder, Eska motioned for the other wolf to follow her.

The fae gave her name and the brindled fae nodded. "Eska." She gave her own name before moving into the hall where she proceeded to wait for the other fae. Only then did she begun moving back towards the door outside. She had note the strange look on the woman's face. She had gotten many of those since her arrival here. "I assume you knew my mother." Since her mother had created this pack, she imagined that they all had known her. Pity that Eska hadn't.

Lúta followed after the young woman who introduced herself as Eska. At the mention of her mother Lúta felt her heart skip a beat, even though she'd expected as much. She didn't even need to ask to know that Eska's mother was Resin. "Yes, I knew Resin. I wish I could've done more for her. Her loss has left a soreness in the hearts of many of our pack." Lúta's voice trailed off, her paws slipping silently down the stone steps. She had many questions she wished to ask but she did not know if they were too invasive. Still, she threw caution to the winds and opted just to ask. "Did you know much of your mother?" Resin had never mentioned children besides the litter with Tamsyn of course.

The silvered woman cast a side-eye at the fae beside her as she began to speak. Of course Luta knew her mother. By the expression on her face, she wondered if the two might have been friends. Or perhaps her mother simply had that sort of impact upon those of the pack. From what she'd heard, the woman had been a pillar. A personality. She would never know first hand. The time had come and gone and Eska had been too late.

Luta came straight out and asked if Eska had known her mother. Obsidian ears stood erect as the silver and black fae moved down the stairs. "No. We were separated by a landslide when I was still a child. She believed that I died along with my siblings." Coming to the bottom of the stairs, Eska moved back out into the light of day. "I was washed downstream and a friend of my family found me. By the time I was able to be moved, my mother was gone. I've spent my life looking for her." A light shrug was given. Luta knew the rest of the story so there was no reason to say it aloud.
"Eska"

Lúta listened quietly as Eska spoke, explaining that she was separated from her mother in a landslide. She felt her stomach sink at the thought. They reached the bottom of the stairs and headed outside into the courtyard. Eska continued and Lúta sighed softly. "I don't know what to say. I wish you would've had the chance to get to know her before…" Her voice trailed off. She still couldn't bring herself to talk openly about what had happened to Resin. In some ways it still didn't seem real. She wished to change the topic but was unsure how to do so until they arrived at her old den for the last of her things.

"I just have a few more tins and tinctures to transport… oh, and some ceramic bowls." She carefully moved the items onto two hides, dividing them equally. "Do you intend to stay in the Hallows, Eska?" She wasn't sure if the woman would move on now that her mother had passed or remain. She folded the four corners of the hide she had and picked it up in her jaws to haul it back up the stairs.
