Wine and Sour Grapes

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn stepped softly into the shadowed grove. Oak and maple trees grew tall here but they were overshadowed by the mass of grapevines that grew over and along their branches, filtering the noon sun into a smattering of beams that kissed the emerald grass below. Clumps of purple grapes hung down from the branches here and there and there was a warm, hazy, green glow to the whole grove. Almost like she'd entered a cave of trees except that more light was able to make its way in. It was a lovely and secluded place with no hint of underbrush apart from the carpet of grass.

Returning to land had been a difficult change for Bowen. As such, she felt the itch to move and explore. Though only recently returned home, the young woman already wandered far from the castle, trying to soothe her itchy, travel hungry paws. Today's adventure led her to an interesting place where grapes hung from thick, healthy vines like great purple globes. With winter arriving in the northern reaches, summer had just begun here. The air was warm and humid and the grapes seemed to be thriving in such a climate. Bowen wondered if she could harvest some of the bunches to take back home as a treat to her family.
Movement nearby brought russet colored ears shifting. The girl's emerald gaze fell upon the form of another. Long, dark legs and orange colored fur; Bowen was familiar with this type of canid. "Hello," the girl spoke, her voice carrying across the distance between herself and the other woman. She didn't want to startle the fae or be rude by not giving a greeting.

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn looked up at the sound of chattering to see a fox squirrel leaning over the branch and chattering at her. She cocked her head to the side, grinning at the creature. In the trees the birds were singing happily and she was pleased to hear the sounds of life. No doubt this area would attract deer and larger prey as well that sought shelter.
Jynn's ears twitched as she heard someone approaching. A voice called out and she turned to see a pretty little yearling. Jynn smiled gently. "Hello there! Gorgeous day isn't it? My name is Jynn, are you out exploring to?"

The woman greeted her kindly and Bowen felt comfortable closing the distance between them. The girl looked up at the same chattering squirrel for a moment before turning her attention away. For a place that was so lovely, it was surprisingly dark at the same time. As she approached the woman, Bowen inspected the woven roof of the place. It was terribly fascinating and she found herself wondering how long it had taken to grow this way.
Once within range, the leggy woman gave her name as Jynn. Bowen offered a smile and a nod. "I'm Bowen and yes, I'm out exploring. I've never been to this place before." Once more emerald eyes drifted around the area. She noticed how unnaturally quiet the place seemed to be. The air was still, but not stagnant.

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn followed the girl's gaze up to the vines that wove themselves through out the branches in a gorgeous organic lattice. The girl introduced herself as Bowen and stated that she was out exploring and had never been to this location before. "Neither have I, but it's very beautiful if a bit somber for my taste." This location would be good for when one needed to escape the hustle and bustle of life and find a serene area to rest.
"Would you like some company while you explore Bowen? I'm headed out to see the western ocean. I'd be grateful for someone to talk to. It can get kind of lonely exploring by myself."

As Jynn spoke of the place being somber, Bowen's eyes were already drifting to the brightly lit, naturally formed doorway. "I'm used to a lot more sunlight than this." Life on the sea was full of sunlight. Even being inside the castle felt stifling at times.
Bowen turned her attention to Jynn as the fae spoke of further exploration. "I just got back home and I shouldn't go too far..." she hesitated only a moment, considering that her family might think she'd been kidnapped again. In the end, her travelers spirit caught up with her. "I would rather explore with a partner instead of being alone." A smile turned up the corners of the little lady's maw. "I'd very much like to continue exploring with you, Jynn." With a pull of her skull, she motioned the fae back out towards the bright light of day. On to adventure!
