Ophie was a little nervous fighting in front of such a crowd, but from what she saw people were too busy to pay attention. The party had gotten into the thick of it and though she rarely left the Armada she found the energy captivating, like she could really have some fun here if she let herself go! Starting off, the lots were drawn and Ophie's opponent was pointed out to her with an easy wave. Just a friendly spar, no reason to get all worked up! Approaching the Habari girl, Ophie hid her anxiety behind a massive and beaming smile, too big some might say. The girl in question was pretty, brown coated with streaks of gold accentuating the lines of her body. She was taller than Ophie but not by a lot, easily overshadowed by the dire's in her family. Still, she knew looks could be deceiving, that if Aris was about to beat her in a fight than anyone could. If you used size as a metric, of course. "Hey I'm your spar partner, you want to make the first move?" It only seemed fair and Ophie didn't mind going on the defence, it suited her nature a little better.

When the pairings had been announced and the girl had seen her partner, she’d been...stunned, to put it gently. The other girl was pudgy, rotund, just round all over. She was like a walking blueberry. Kali wondered how she was walking at all, considering her legs didn’t look like they would be able to support her weight. But there she was anyways, waddling toward her and the Habari princess swore that she may have felt the earth shake a little. Her bi-colored gaze watched her with raised brows, blinking at the huge smile the blue and grey toned girl gave her.

She was invited to make the first move, which honestly surprised her. “Uuhh..yes, I suppose,” the gold swathed girl replied warily. She lowered herself into a fighting stance, legs firmly apart and head tipped back to protect her throat. Then, a moment later, she was pushing off the ground quickly, streaking across the ground. She feigned like she was going straight for her head, but at the last second she swept past her instead. The girl made to grab her foe’s tail in her teeth hoping to pull it to the side and down beneath her body, tripping her with her own tail. As the saying went, the bigger they were the harder they fell.

Okay. Ophie had tried to be positive, but it was hard to remain that way when the stranger wasn't even trying to hide her disgust. It was clear in her eyes, the way her gaze roved over Ophie's form like she was something nasty she'd stepped on. The Fatalis didn't know much about Habari but none of the wolves she'd met from there were nice to her, maybe it would be a good idea to steer clear from here on out. She couldn't say she liked herself at the best of times, but Ophie wasn't masochistic, she wasn't gonna seek out people who'd hurt her time and time again for no good reason. Other than being a b-word. The spar was on and Ophie saw a brown blur rush past, swerving out of bite range only to grab a hold of her grey tail. She felt the sting of teeth but bit back any yelps that threatened to escape as she hauled her weight behind a hip check. If nothing else it would be more than enough to ward the Habari off, to give Ophie more room to think and breathe. For all her heft, Ophie knew she hit hard. Even if she didn't mean to, for the most part. But if this girl got scratched or bruised Ophie would struggle to feel any sense of remorse. Her teeth successfully met the girl’s tail, pulling it over and to the side. She felt herself grin at her success, even through her mouthful of bushy fur, but it wasn’t a second longer before her shoulder was rammed with the full weight of her foe, knocking her off balance and most definitely bruising her skin beneath her fur. She hissed and let go, stumbling to the side with a wrinkled nose. How annoying.

The chocolate and gold swirled Malakim circled the Armada girl, bi-colored gaze narrowed as she looked for another opening. The especially enervating part about her weight was that she was impossible to knock over from a direct attack, and while Kali could definitely land some hits on her due to her opponent’s slow disposition, they wouldn’t really do that much damage. She needed to use some tricks, but which ones? After a moment, she felt she saw an opening and she took it. She zoomed forward, once again going from behind. She ducked beneath her left hind leg and raised herself up with a grunt, moving forward in hopes of dragging the bulky girl’s leg out from under her.

The shoulder check worked just as Ophie hoped and was enough to drive the Klein back, but for how long? She slipped in again, teeth at the ready and though Ophie tried to side step out of the way she was simply too slow. Inevitable really, no one was surprised. Ophie's leg pricked in discomfort as yet again she grabbed her, holding on to her limb as she yanked it forward. No doubt in the hopes of destabilising her enough that she'd fall. Well she could see where she was coming from, it was a sound idea but Ophie knew what to do in situations like this. Her weight was good for one thing, at least. The Fatalis glanced down, brows furrowed as she made a point of stepping forward, hoping to drag her further beneath the shadow of Ophie's form so that when she flopped down she'd be buried beneath the bulk of her weight.
