Haru was determined to show Hattori and the others that he belonged here. After the koi wolf had tasked him with fishing to show his hunting skills Haru had proudly presented a number of fish to the older male, but he wasn't content to stop there. He hadn't joined the Ashen looking for a free ride, and as lame as it might have sounded to another, the honey-brown wolf was truly excited to find his place in the pack. He was an extremely social animal who'd spent a lot of time by himself in the first few years of his existence, living a half-life that never truly felt right for him. And so he'd never truly be able to express his greatfulness to Hattori for accepting him, or to the Ashen as a whole for giving him a chance.
But he'd spend every day for the rest of his life trying to repay them, all the same.
"I'm going out to patrol the borders if anyone wants to come!" he called as he padded away from the glowing pool where the majority of the pack liked to gather, trying to ignore the hint of uncertainty on his own voice that was quickly covered by a smile. Despite his time here he still hadn't met many of the other wolves and it felt strange to address them like this, knowing very well he was still a stranger to them. It was a feeling he was eager to outgrow, and he hoped he didn't look like a fool lingering at the treeline for someone to join him.
