Katja had not seen enough in this life to definitively say that the strange changes were not some normal cycle the world went through every once in a while, but by the reactions she observed in the elder wolves of the pack and her family she'd been able to reach a pretty solid conclusion of it being more than just her inexperience that made the changes seem unusual. It made her warier even than usual, and she found herself patrolling the pack lands at night when the changes were most vivid and unsettling. She was perched on the ruins of the old farmhouse - the tractor would have been a better observation post, but she didn't want to deal with her Afi's complaints if she were to wake him - ignoring the wisp lights around her in favor of studying the strange streaking lights of the stars as they revolved over Midgard.

Aside from the creepiness of it all, Tyrfing quite enjoyed the changes in the night. The moon was always bright and full, fireflies danced and sort of even played with him, disappearing beneath his paws as he tried to contain them. The plants he figured were probably worrying to some, but Fin wasn't a herbivore so what did he care if plants gave off light? If anything, this winter was shaping up to be just as interesting as the last but much less inherently dangerous - or so he assumed, at least. Seeing his sister the yearling sprang over, climbing up the farmhouse ruins as quick as his mutated paws could carry him, and landing beside her with a thump. "What'cha looking at?" He asked with a tilt of his head, following her eye line out into the world where fireflies danced and stars streaked across the sky. "Pretty cool, huh? Has mom told you anything about them? It's gotta be the Vættir, right?" The yearling's purple tail wagged slowly across the ruined roof, waiting to hear his sister confirm his thoughts that this was indeed the work of spirits. Katja turned to face him, the moonlight and fairy-lights glinting weirdly in her silver eyes as Tyrfing joined her on the ruined foundation. He seemed excited by the oddities and Katja didn't begrudge him that. He asked her a question, and she tilted her head, considering it. She wasn't a gyðja or seiðr like their great aunt, to know the working of the spirit world and the Gods, but it seemed logical enough to assume that this was the work of some kind of spirit. She shrugged. "It seems likely. But who knows what kind? Or why?" A frustrated scowl at the weird firefly lights before she shook her head. "I don't know if its dangerous or not. The landvættir don't seem to usually do... this." She gestured at the sky, the weird stars and always-full moon. "The plants and animals? Maybe. But the sky? This feels different. I don't know whether this is the Gods or an evil seiðr, but bróðir minn, it has me worried."

The yearling's brow furrowed in thought as she gave her own thoughts to what sort of presence might be influencing their world. He considered her words, empathizing with the frustration that poured out from her as it seemed nobody anywhere had any sort of answers. It would be concerning for him that not even the adults could put a name to the phenomena, except there was not much that Fin feared and the supernatural was definitely not one of the things that kept him up at night. "So far I've not seen any danger." He shrugged. "Maybe they're not evil, maybe they're mischievous and just playing with us." From what he'd seen so far the fireflies themselves did not strike him as ominous foreboding magic. Yes it was odd that they vanished beneath a paw or jaw, and a bit odder yet that the rodents he'd seen sharing their glow held no fear of him, but it could all be some trick, a prank of some sort. A superstitious shudder sent her hackles up at his words. It was certainly a strong possibility that the changes were Loki meddling in the world somehow, sowing chaos and uncertainty and quite possibly death. The absolute strange nature of it, the mischief that Tyrfing saw in it, that was certainly Loki's style. "It is very generous of him, if so," she said, careful to say nothing that might offend the aforementioned jotun, particularly if Tyrfing's use of his name had attracted his notice. Loki's "gifts" were as likely to turn on you as they were to bless you, and it was never good to attract negative attention from him. "I could see it being so. Perhaps we should make an offering to him to... show our appreciation for his gift." Or rather, to appease him.

Tyrfing could hear the superstitious hesitation in his sister's words and he gave her a grin. Yes, he had been told of the particularities of the Æsir and cautioned against offending them, but any God with eyes could see that Tyrfing was as devoted as they came. He had no fear, not of Loki nor any other, and if it was decided that Tyrfing should be punished then he'd accept their judgement and their will. Still, the idea of an offering was very much up the young viking's alley. "Yes, lets!" He agreed. "Perhaps not one that glows, it might make him think we don't appreciate the changes he's made." And Tyrfing did very much prefer this odd glowing winter then he did the ten-feet-of-snow, mammoth-ridden winter of last. "Speech" table art by nightauctor
