When she had made it home, she realised she had, indeed, picked up a spider as she went crashing through the mangroves. The Archer had never seen anything quite like it, even the joints on its legs carried a hint of blue glow. Maybe it had been gorging itself on the fireflies and that was just a byproduct of it’s current diet? Either way, she thought it would probably be bad luck to let it stay in her den. Other wolves might have crushed the thing, or just let it go outside, but Sedna not only felt guilty for ruining it’s lovely web in her momentary panic, she had also carried it miles away. What if it had a little spider family back in the mangroves?
So instead, she found herself weaving through the willows, the arachnid perched atop her skull as she tried to find a new home for it. They weren’t bad or evil by nature, and they served a purpose. Maybe if she helped this one get set up somewhere new, it would make a dent in the cloud of glowing insects that seemed intent on crawling into her coat? Of course, one spider wouldn’t make that much of a difference, but if there were heaps…
She felt a spindly leg tap against her ear and she slowed her steps, Was this where it wanted to get off? She experimentally tipped her head up to the nearest tree and the spider scuttled along her muzzle and up into the tree, leaving a trailing of web across her nose. Her face scrunched up as she sneezed, sending a cloud of glowing bugs into the air before they settled back in her fur. Sedna growled in frustration. Why wouldn’t they just leave her alone?

He had been lingering around the southern portions of Boreas since he had struck out on his own. With it being winter and all he certainly didn't want to be any further north than this, but the weather in Auster was probably even a bit too warm for his liking. Perhaps if he had been in Auster before their version of a summer began before his coat had a chance to thicken up with the colder weather he'd enjoy it more, but now that his red-hued coat was fully suited for the cold weather he figured this was as good an area as any to stay in. It was cold without being frigid and there was a light blanket of snow around, but nothing too deep.
The nights had been strange indeed with fireflies unlike any he had seen before floating around and even more strange than that was the glowing plants and the occassional glowing animal. He had heard of mushrooms that sometimes had a bioluminescence to them, but this was just getting ridiculous. He was passing through the forest of willow trees when he heard a sneeze somewhere on the other side of a cluster of the trees and he paused, giving a curious tilt of his head. He certainly didn't have anything else going on so he diverted his path to go investigate and at first he thought he had found a glowing wolf and that was just the last straw in this whole strange mess, but then he saw the lights on her move and realized it wasn't coming from her, but something on her. He chuckled softly and approached her, eyeing the bugs with a lifted brow. "It looks like you might have something there... and there.... and maybe some there," he said with a smirk.

Yep, it seemed like this was the tree the spider had picked for it’s new home. She was about to shake out her coat again, anything to get these bloody bugs to leave her alone, when a strange voice came to her ears. She turned, ears forward but tail pointed straight to the ground between her back legs. A smart arse, hey? Well, it wasn’t like she wasn’t due to get some of her own back. Her tail began to sway in a low wave, attempting not to give too much away.
She shook her coat, hoping the new offering would give her some reprieve, "More’n happy ter share," she shot back with a smirk of her own, attempting to sidestep the cloud of bugs as some of them swarmed back towards her and the other’s seemed torn for a moment, hovering in the air overhead. "Is it like this ev’rywhere?" She questioned the stranger, he smelled better travelled than she was. Maybe that was why the bugs kept swarming to her? Maybe she had spent so long in the one place that she smelled like home?

He gave a little snort of laughter when the stranger gave a shake of her coat, clearly attempting to get rid of the bugs seemingly stuck to her, and offered to share some of them with her. "Hm, I can't say that I'm really looking for any glowing friends, but thanks for the offer." He took a couple steps back from the cloud of bugs that lingered away from her while some went right back to lingering on her fur. He gave her a nod when she asked if these weird things were happening everywhere. "Indeed it is. I've been down in Auster recently and have traveled a bit through the west and now into the east and everywhere is crawling with weird, glowing things." He had been on a lot of travels in his life and never before had he seen anything like this before.
"I think you might need a new host for your little buddies," he suggested, quickly followed up with, "A host that is not me." He chuckled softly, lifting a paw to swat at one of the bugs that tried to come near him. He looked around the willow trees with a hum. "I wonder if it has to be an animal for them to sit on or if you rubbed along some of these long branches if they'd sit in the tree."

The Archer pulled a face at the news the weirdness was pervasive. What did that mean for the rest of them then? That they’d never see the sun and the world would be lit bu this strange blue and yellow hue for the rest of forever? She didn’t much like that prospect.
Doubly upsetting, it didn’t seem like the fireflies were much interested in the stranger either. "Well if they don’ shove off soon I’ll drown ‘em in cedar. That should get rid o’ ‘em…" not that she was much looking forward to the prospect of a bed full of dead fireflies either. She hadn’t considered trying to move them to something inanimate though, it couldn’t hurt to try. "’S worth a shot. Name’s Sedna," She finally got around to introducing herself as she moved to scratch her haunches against a nearby willow. The movement had the bugs rising and falling in a cloud around her, a handful perching on the tree but the majority remained in her coat. She moved to another tree and rubbed her shoulder and neck. That seemed to get their attention a little more. Even if it didn’t get rid of all the bugs, even getting rid of some would be a blessing. She was all but blind beyond the arch of their combined light. "Huh," she remarked, with some small surprise and a shrug, "Works better’n just haulin’ ‘em around forever." although she couldn’t help but think Otis might be disappointed that a potential smorgasbord was being diminished for the sake of her own comfort.

Ruga smirked at the idea of drowning the darn things and it made him wonder just how long she had been putting up with the clingy fireflies. "Ruga. Nice to meet you, Sedna," he said in return when she introduced herself. He stood back and watched while she went to one of the trees and started rubbing against some of the branches, his plan mostly working as some of the fireflies decided the branches were a good enough place to perch. He made a mental note not to touch any of the trees as he began to make his way out of the forest just on the off chance that the fireflies decided that he should be their next target. When she turned back toward him with a shrug he chuckled, glad to see that she was at least relieved of most of them.
He padded over to her and lifted a paw to flick one of the fireflies off of the side of her neck, watching it go to join its brethren in the tree. "Well, hopefully the rest of these little guys leave you alone soon... unless they just have a death wish." He gave her a flash of a grin as he started to turn away, calling back over his shoulder. "Maybe I'll see you around, eh? Best of luck with the fireflies!"
