Kione quite liked how the wolves called others outside of their pack to race and spar.  Kione had always kept fun and games to his own family but that was no longer an option.  So on the empty battlefield Kione called his own challenge.  The wild dog was a fancifully colored pallet of orange black and oranges.  His howl had a strange accent to it, sounding more like the hoot of some owl than a wolf's howl.  Still, the message in there was clear; Kione wanted a challenger.  He’d take a race or a spar.

Kione was feeling pretty good and happy to do both if someone wanted.  Letting out a lazy yawn the dog thought about laying down to wait but instead remained standing.  There were some good chaps amongst the wolves but that didn’t mean there wouldn’t be some who foolishly thought a long wild dog was an easy game to take things beyond the level of friendly.  Best to be alert.


"Speech"

What? Levi had never heard a howl like that before, all twisted and bent out of shape, like it belonged in a forest canopy. Not out here on the battlefield, where wolves sought out opponents to test out their skills against one another. And yet as he padded onto the scene he came across a sort of familiar sight. Their body and posture looked canine enough, but their massive rounded ears and dappled coat wasn't like anything he'd ever seen before. Not that the little Fatalis dwelled on it too much as he approached, noting they were willing to both race or fight. Why not both, one after the other?

But what would go first? Levi figured since the weird dog thing made the call, he'd get to decide. Seemed fair enough.

"Okay." He said, watching the canine expectantly. Ready to spring into action at any given moment.

The wolf pup was small, even for a pup! Kione had seen giant wolves thus far but this little one was something like half Kione’s size.  Sure, it’d grow but the painted dog doubt it would get to his height.  The one-word response was questionable also.  No name, no mention of what he preferred, just ‘ok’.

“Hey there laddy,” Kione greeted the youngster, “ready for a scuffle then?” If the kid was willing to come out here and fight then the dog wasn’t going to disrespect him.  Kione held a big difference in a spar and true fight anyway.  He had no need to truly injure the pup or any canine to attempt to win a match.

Kione squared up, an eye on what seemed to be an overly serious kid in his mind, “and here we go,” the boy got a warning before Kione ran to him.  Lowering his head to bite for the boy’s shoulder.  If it connected Kione’s teeth might leave bruises but he didn’t see a need to draw blood if not fighting a true enemy.  This was just about training for the two of them.

"Speech"

Levi nodded and hummed softly in the back of his throat. He couldn't say he liked being called Laddy, but didn't really care enough to kick up a fuss and was much more interested in getting into the thick of the spar. Though if nothing else he was grateful for the fact the canine didn't make too much of a fuss about his age, didn't refuse to spar with him just cause he was small and young. Most people in Boreas were younger than him, so who was he supposed to fight? Just his siblings?

Kicking off the spar, the canine made a dash for him, teeth at the ready to take a nip at his shoulder. Given the size disparity, the strange dog had to lean down a little to reach, giving Levi a chance to rear up and attempt to grab a hold of the loose skin at the side of his neck. He had no mind to take care to be gentle, didn't really know the outright damage his teeth could inflict if they hit the wrong spot at the wrong angle. It was a lesson he'd need to learn though, sooner rather than later.

Kione lacked the dense thick fur that the wolves had, less fur to protect his actual skin when an attack hit.  Kione made a soft sound as he felt one of the boy’s fangs make a slash into his neck.  Kione sidestepped away to not let the kid make a deeper cut but he came right back in.  Kione moved to jump over the kid, higher up than needed, with the plan to hopefully throw the boy off balance as he readjusted to where Kione was.  Kione whould attempt to shove his chest into the boy’s shoulder to try and knock him over.

It was an attempt to win without doing much damage.  Sure, there was a bit of blood on his neck but it wasn’t bad.  Kione would assume it was an accident until he had reason to believe the child would intentionally plan to play rough.

"Kione"

The taste of blood settled on Levi's tongue as he found himself falling after a knock to his shoulder. Just as before the canine was being gentle with him, holding back like Levi was too fragile for his own good. Yeah, that was nice and all, but rather than feel any sense of gratitude it annoyed the little Fatalis. Even now and more than anything he hated being tiptoed around, like he was small and weak. He could take a hit like anyone else his age, why did everyone refuse to see that? It made Levi grit his teeth, want to rip and tear till his point was proven.

Landing with an oof, he was quick to attempt to scramble back up onto his paws, limbs kicking as he lashed out with his raptor claws. When in doubt scratch, had always worked well for him so why stop now? His flurry of kicks left his limbs in a dark blur, aimless but would no doubt pack a punch if one of his claws hooked onto skin.
