She was near her den, and she was hungry. It was early in the afternoon, and she had yet to have any breakfast. The scraggly woman had been napping outside of her den after being up all night, unable to really sleep. But now? She was both tired, and hungry. She rolled over onto her side as she thought about whether or not she wanted to get up and try to chase something down for brunch, or if she wanted to try something a little lazier. Her father had told her about traps...and as her eyes wandered to the wooden stakes she had in the ground by her den with the rotting heads on them, an idea struck her. Surely those could be used for more than just decoration, right? Staggering to her feet in a still drowsy state, she picked up a few stakes from the ground, shaking off the heads that were stuck to them before heading towards the border.

When she reached her destination, she dropped the stakes and set about digging a couple of large holes, just big enough for smaller animals like rabbits or raccoons to fit in. After digging a couple of those, she set some stakes into the ground at odd angles, sticking them into the dirt and making sure they stayed in place. She covered the holes with some thin sticks and leaves before stepping back to look at her work. Now that that was done, she had to either find something to scare towards the traps or set something to wait for a creature to wander into them. The only issue with the latter was that she didn't have any bait. So she opted for hiding herself and waiting for something to come by so she could scare it in that direction.

Hiding beneath some bushes, she lied down and waited for the better part of an hour or so before she caught the scent of a rabbit. Now that the neverending darkness finally ended and summer had come in full force, this rabbit was big and plump and juicy looking. She licked her lips in anticipation while trying to keep herself still so as to avoid scaring it away. She watched as it wandered towards the traps, but stopped just a few feet away as it nibbled on the tender grass. Growing frustrated, she waited another minute or two before rushing out and barking at it, causing the rabbit to run in alarm.

to her delight, it ran straight towards one of the traps she had set, and within moments, the cover she had made broke, and the final squeal of the fat little beast indicated her mission success! She sauntered over to it, tail wagging and she looked in the hole to find the rabbit still kicking even while impaled. Pleased with her work, she pried the rabbit off the stakes and gave it a quick, final shake before heading back to her den to eat.
