Watcher in the Mists

The Spirit slid quietly through the mists, light from her fur bouncing back at her. She was used to it, padding lightly as she made her patrols of the inner territory, ensuring that no predators had slipped into the heart of the packland. The shorter circuit meant a better chance of catching the scent in time to avoid disaster.


Her tail flicked in a blur of light as she investigated a scent, but it was from Loshir, and so she passed on, moving steadily through her patrol. Hours later the patrol had been uneventful, and she moved on to her sentry duty. With numbers depleted by the plague, everyone was doing double duty.


She leapt to the top of the wall and made her way to the hide, slipping into the shelter and settling in, eyes scanning the mists beyond the wall.
