It was a warm afternoon, and Viðarr's family seemed to rest far more easily than he. It was true, they usually settled in the afternoons, waiting for the heat to pass. Still, he was restless. He needed something to do, and sleep wasn't coming. No, this afternoon, he would not nap. He would not rest. Carefully, quietly, he rose to his feet and padded off. Beside him, the valkyrie did not stir. That was good... she needed the sleep. Something had been haunting her dreams, and Viðarr knew not how to soothe her.
No, he needed to move. Into the forest he faded, senses keen and sharp. Predators? Prey? Something. Anything. A chase or a fight, something that would make him feel more alive. As if Ullr had heard his request, a scent picked up on the stiff summer breeze. Mule deer. Without a second thought, Viðarr took off in the direction of the scent. He'd been blessed. He felt alive.
