Life is a strange thing. One minute, you’re a pup traveling with your nomadic family and the next, your walking alone toward an unknown future. Athena ponders the strange workings of the world as she ambles, lazily through a forest. This place, like every other place in this land is strange to her but she has her nose to guide her way. A pair of wolves is the reason she is in this strange forest. She had been at the Love Day Carnival, enjoying the festivities, eating good food and had watched the tournaments with great excitement. There was a pair that had caught her eye, a huge brute and a smaller, but just as fierce, warrior lady. She had marveled at the way the pair worked in tandem and the nomadic wolf had decided that she wants to be a great fighter like them.

So, when the pair had left, Athena had loosely trailed them, hanging back so as not to draw too much attention to herself. When they crossed a land bridge, Athena had hesitated, glancing back to the land behind her. Sure, this land is strange but at least she is familiar with places behind her. However, the pull to be a great fighter has her turning back to the land bridge and squaring her shoulders with confidence. Then she had quickly crossed the bridge. Rain greets and for a short, terrifying moment, Athena loses the pair’s trail. Luckily, she is was able to find it again and she now stands near the scent marked broader of a pack land. Tilting her head back, Athena releases a howl.


"Athena Nocturna"

The trek back to the Isle had been long and tiring. Chimera wanted nothing more than to collect his queens, his children, and lay down for a long, much needed sleep. He was determined to not leave his island again for a long time. Or at least until the time came for him to visit Elysium to see what Manea had made of herself. Already he was making a mental checklist of who and what to take on the journey. Cerberus for sure. The boy wanted to learn and to see the world so Chimera would give him just that. He thought about taking Siren along as he had expressly forbidden his sweet sister from leaving the island. He wasn't sure who else to take just yet, but he'd figure it out eventually.

As Chimera and Dalila neared the ferry, a howl came from behind. Internally, Chimera groaned. Outwardly, he nosed into the mottled woman's cheek, then turned to do his duty. It took a bit of time to cross back over the territory and by the time he arrived at the border where the stranger stood, he was even more tired. Mismatched eyes stare down at the golden marked fae that stands just outside of Fenmyre's border. "I am Chimera, King of Fenmyre. What can I help you with?" He tried to hide the irritation, but there was no way that he could hide the exhaustion.

"Chimera Klein"

Athena waits outside the border, eyes roaming around to take in the sights. Time passes and the earthen hued wolf folds her back legs and settles onto her haunches to wait. When her amber eyes spy the black and white brute approaching, the waiting woman stands to greet him. Dipping her head when he gives his name and rank, Athena reads the exhaustion in his frame. Okay, straight to the point then, no mincing words. Tilting her head back to the King in his eyes, the earthen hued wolf says, “My name is Athena, sir. I saw you and your partner fighting in the tournament and I want be a fighter like you. Please allow me to join your pack and hone my skills. In return, I will pull my weight and help wherever needed.” Was that too straight forward? Would he appreciate her trying to get this over with so she didn’t take up anymore of his time? If Chimera says no, Athena will waste no more of the King’s time. "Athena Nocturna"

The woman surprised him a bit by saying that she'd been at the tournament and that she'd followed he and Dalila all the way home. Like some sort of lost puppy. Not only that, but she wanted to join Fenmyre because of the skill that they'd shown. Hmm. Chimera hated tournaments. He hated public events. The massive man would have been content to stay on his island forever, but his queen had begged him to attend with her. Perhaps, if this Athena was good on her word, the tournament would have been worth it.

"Welcome to Fenmyre," he said, then turned and led her into the territory. "All wolves old enough run patrols of the island. Older, more skilled wolves run patrols of the dam." Might as well get her filled in and let her know his expectations while they walked. They passed an abandoned beaver dam that didn't look like the rest. Chi motioned to it with a point of his muzzle. "A den in case you need a break from the island. All wolves are expected to make their home on the island."

The pair cut across the aspens as Chi prompted them into a lope. He just wanted to get home and sleep. They were nearing the ferry, which he would also have to explain. Coming up to the waters edge, he began explaining the winch and pull system that would propel the raft from one side of the water to the other. "It must be docked on the island side every night." Not that it was a difficult swim to get across, but he didn't want to make it too easy for intruders. With that, he prompted the fae onto the ferry and began pulling them across the smooth ocean waters.

"Chimera Klein"

Athena looks to Chimera, waiting to hear his verdict on if she would be allowed to join. When the King speaks up, welcoming her to Fenmyre, a wide grin splits her maw. The huge black and white wolf turns and moves into the territory and the smaller earthen hued wolf walks with him. As he explains things, her amber eyes take in the territory already working on making a map of the land. She will have to ask him later, when he is not so tired, if she will be patrolling the island or the dam. The abandoned dam is pointed out and Athena nods her understanding, remaining quiet so the tired wolf can get through his spiel quickly. She is attentive to everything, nodding as instructions are given and places pointed out. When they arrive at the ferry, dark eyebrows shoot up at the complex mechanism that works it. Mouth rounds in an ‘o’ as Athena looks to Chimera, amazement written plainly on her features. Eagerly, the earthen woman drinks up the details, stepping forward onto the raft when prompted. The huge King pulls them smoothly across the water and Athena’s happiness grows. Finally, she breaks her silence to say, “This is really cool!” With that she peeks over the side to watch the ripples of the water as the passes by. "Athena Nocturna"  ’Thought’

The woman seemed to listen well enough. She appreciated the construction of the ferry and Chimera grunted in response, being too busy pulling the rope and winch to do much else. Once they were on the other side, the black and white giant led the woman down the well worn path towards the compound. Once they were within the atrium, Chimera pointed to each wing, North, South, East, West, and explained who of his family lived in each. Quietly, so as not to wake everyone, the pair moved out of the compound and through the dark jungle towards the beach. Stopping at the long row of refurbished bungalows, the man motioned to them. "Some are occupied, but take any empty one for now. I can show you more tomorrow when it's light. Or I'll have my son show you." Cerberus was being groomed to rule Fenmyre. It would be his duty to accept new wolves and to get them situated within the pack. It would be a good test for the boy.

Chimera... needed sleep. He wanted nothing more than to curl up with Aliana and sleep, so that was what he would do. Giving a nod to the woman once she had chosen a temporary dwelling, the man made his way back to the compound, pulled the clouded woman to him, and went quickly to sleep.
