The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 3

Though Laeta was practically jumping out of her skin to run aeound and explore like she used to, she knew her recovery would take time. The paralysis which she’d endured had done a great deal of damage; wasting away her muscle whittling it near to the bone, ruining her balance and coordination, depleting her appetite so that her ribs jutted out sickeningly, and much more beyond the scope of what anyone could see physically. Mentally, being practically imprisoned in her own mind, forced to look at the same walls, lay on the same bed, unable to move or feed herself or do the most basic functions without assistance was, without a doubt, one of the biggest battles she’d fought. However, pulling through such an unthinkable ordeal, she believed, made her that much stronger. Her demeanor shifted, and in part due to the hospitable nature of the Hallows, she healed to her old self again, the bright, inquisitive scholar with a heart of gold that had been tucked away in lieu of a lonely, broken mind. She had healed, and found her heart was ready to give itself to others without compromising her own health. It was time.

The woman, though still incredibly thin, was beginning to fill out, her ribs and hip bones not nearly as visible as she tottered down the corridor of the main hall in the castle. Mel crept next to her, his ruby claws clicking the stone floor in slow, steady rhythm, like a lazy metronome. She’d been walking every day, as much as her body could handle, and it showed. The slightest bit of roped flesh was beginning to carve itself back into her wiry limbs, her ruby eyes bright and sparkling with the joy each day brought. It was quiet, barely anyone around..it was likely everyone else was far away from this place at the moment, hunting or patrolling while it was still dry and not rainy. A rare opportunity to take, especially if anyone had some thoughts they wished to express. ”This way, Mel,” Laeta murmured softly to her badger, who nodded and helped brace her as she turned down towards some less inhabited halls. Nice and quiet, save for the sound of padding paws. Laeta perked her ears, pausing to slowly turn her head towards a familiar face with a smile.
