Ulmaria was excited for the tournament. She'd been practicing hard and she'd succedded in scaring off that mean badger. She was absolutely ready for a fighting tournament. Ulmaria had armor and a weapon as well as a few companions to help her. She scrambled to where they'd be fighting with Piper leading the way. She waited for her sister and watched as their opponents appeared, a firey looking wolf and one with horns. They were big! One of them was definitely an adult if they both weren't. She swallowed sharply feeling suddenly very small but she didn't want to let Lorelai down. She set her defenses and then as the start signal was given she bounded toward the shorter of the adults (Incendio). Ulmaria tried to race along his left side as she tried to bite his left hind knee.

Lorelai was pumped for this tournament! Of course she wanted to win and make her family proud, and to help out Ulmaria too if she could, but most of all she was excited to test her strengths against strangers. She had to see where she stood! Not that she was kidding herself of course, she knew some wolves were just born for fighting and while that might not have been her speed, she would give it her all. Approaching her sister she gave Mari a nod and a grin, parroting the action to her horde of companions, and noted as well that Ulmaria looked the part of a warrior. Lore was just... kind of there. But she wouldn't let it get her spirits down! They were gonna win this thing for sure. Facing down against their opponents wasn't exactly a boost to her confidence, but it did seem like this would be an interesting fight at the very least. When the signal was given, Lore quickly clocked that her sister was going for the smaller of their opponents, which left the larger one for her. Lore grinned into the challenge, hopefully she could use her smaller size to her advantage. She charged towards Inferno, feinting left and dodging right, aiming to chomp down on the giant female's hind left leg just above the paw. Maybe if she could stay back here, away from the sharper end, this would turn out okay? ... A pup could dream, anyhow. When Inferno had been paired with her cousin for the tournament, she'd been pleased enough. It was ideal, as far as she was concerned. She hadn't expected to be paired against two young brightly colored pups, though. Her grim expression softened at the sight of their adorably fierce faces, though she was careful not to smile lest their feelings be hurt. It wasn't that long ago that she herself had been a pup, and she remembered how sensitive they could often be to being patronized. They were spunky pups, she'd give them that, and they certainly charged bravely enough into the fray. The purplish colored pup went for Incendio, and for a moment Inferno - who wasn't used to fighting as a team - was distracted as she tensed up, readying herself for the charge thinking it might be for her. But no, appropriately enough it was the fiery colored pup who flung herself at Inferno, and Fern wasn't quite able to spin out of the way before the girl could clamp onto her pastern. Inferno curled her body like she was chasing her tail, seeking to slam both forepaws down and pin the child. She didn't want to hurt her, so Inferno was reluctant to do more, but she was also aware that if she didn't fight to win and the child moved on in the rankings, she could very well get hurt by someone who was less considerate of their age. It was terribly conflicting.

The carnival had been pretty entertaining so far. He'd run into his mother here, and after chatting with her for a bit before he was called to fight, had found out he had new siblings. He wasn't sure how to feel about it, but he could say for sure he wasn't pissed about it. His mom deserved to be happy, and if more kids were what she wanted then who was he to tell her otherwise? He couldn't help the grin he had after bidding her farewell. The surprise she got when she saw his newfangled blue antlers (earned after they had fallen off during the long night, they grew back a beautiful icy blue), he arrived to the ring and was both surprised and pleased he was paired up with a cousin as opposed to a stranger. While he wasn't terribly close with Ignis' brood or the rest of his family line, at least he was fighting alongside a familiar face and not some random stranger.

His opponents, on the other hand, he had doubts about. They were kids. And while he wanted to win, he wasn't keen on hurting kids. He was certain he'd have to pull some punches here...but hey, at least the kids looked eager as they raced towards them. The purple girl raced towards him, and though she had an army of companions at her side, he was focused on her more. She raced along his left, seemingly gunning for his hind leg. Trying to think of what to do without hurting her too much, he opted to abruptly turn his rump towards her and quickly backpedaled, allowing her teeth to grab her target, earning a wince from the needlelike teeth but...at least now he was in prime position to try and sit on her. which was exactly what he aimed to do.

Ulmaria charged, racing as swiftly as she could. Her opponent shifted but with her focus on his knee she didn't take into account the position of his body and instead bit down hard on her target, successfully biting the knee. She felt the adults weight shift and she swiftly moved with him. She was perpendicular to the knee when he sat and so for the most part she'd avoided being squished except for her left paw. Ulmaria winced but maintained her grip, hoping the electrocytes in her paws would give the man enough of a jolt that he'd get back up and free her. In the mean time her companions entered the fray, her fishing cat seeking to scratch the man's eyes as her lemur sought to leap upon the back of his neck.

Lorelai's teeth found purchase just where she'd wanted them to go. Ideal, and she spent a quick moment congratulating herself about it too before she realized that A. Her master plan had not toppled her opponent in one fell swoop, and B. she hadn't exactly thought ahead to whatever was supposed to come next. She was all 'RAAAHH' and 'CHOMP!' and now it seemed a little too late to ask for a time out. Less than ideal. The older female turned on her and Lore could feel the air behind her tiny red rump ripple with each swipe the other wolf took, seemingly doing her best to pin Lore down. The pup clung on to the leg for as long as she could, half running-half dangling, until one of Inferno's paw swipes came in a little bit too close for comfort, clipping Lore on the hind leg. The young girl yelped, which was a super inconvenient use of her mouth, which had definitely been occupied. Realizing her mistake she thought fast. Lorelai spun on her heels and stooped down to slow any forward momentum, hopefully catching the older wolf off guard to boot. Then, she scooped up a pawful of dirt and sand and flung it up towards the general direction of Inferno's eyes, like the little shit that she was. Inferno managed to clip the pup, finally, and the girl released her leg in a yelp before turning on Inferno. Inferno pulled up short warily, before she could run into the girl and hurt her. Of course, the girl had no such compunctions and suddenly flung a pawful of dirt into Inferno's face. Inferno jerked her head to the side and up as quickly as she could, her eyes closing automatically against the debris. The sharp sting beneath her lids told her that she hadn't closed them quite fast enough. Rocking back on her hindquarters, Inferno shoved out blindly with her forepaws in the general direction that the pup had been at the last point she'd seen her, hoping to knock her down, or at least back.
