One More Trip
Chimera

Reila had led Chimera out to the falls for yet another hunting trip. Hunting for Fenmyre was her main purpose after all. She had told Chimera that maybe he needed more breaks from his own alpha duties. Maybe she wasn’t far behind him honestly.
With the cart parked by the drop of the falls, the pair were set at the base of the pool. Reila took a bundle of ropes they had brought along with them to set as snares. She laid down in the grasses and started to tie the loops where they were needed. Her main purpose of catching hare was to get something a little different on the menu. If anything just for Chimera’s boys.

Chimera followed dutifully beside Reila as the pair went out on yet another hunt. As last time, he allowed the woman to pull the cart on the way there as it was empty and wouldn't take much power to move. On the way back, he'd be pulling the cart. That was the silent deal that they had going. She seemed to accept it and if she didn't, he'd say something about it.
Once they arrived at the falls, Reila took the supplies out of the cart and began setting snares. Chimera did his best to follow suit, though his big paws made snare setting a little difficult. After a few tries and a few curses, he simply followed along beside the woman, holding the damn ropes so that her small paws could make short work of the loops and hooks required.

Reila didn’t laugh but certainly smiled as Chimera huffed and ended up letting her tie the loops instead. It wasn’t quite easy with paws like theirs, but she had learned in her experience and it wouldn’t take long to get them all tied up. They weren’t much in a hurry at least.
She counted the snares, fifteen, not all she expected to use but the more they set the more they’d be likely to catch.
She stood to start setting the snares tightly onto the ground, Chimera May have been better at this than the tying. She was fine with pulling this weight either way. He’d definitely be the most help during the hunt.

Quiet was their norm. Neither wolf said anything as they worked to create the snares. Reila's smaller paws did indeed do the trick and Chimera was fine holding the supplies and watching her work. He would make up for it in other areas
When it came to planting the snares, Chimera used his height and weight to securely situate them where the bob-tailed fae instructed. He counted fifteen in total as the scattered the snares about. He still didn't know what they were hunting but it didn't matter. No matter the prey, they'd get the job done together.

Reila helped set up the snares letting Chimera take more of the task to get the pegs in nice and tight. She lined some of them up against the pool of the water and more farther north of the rock face going up the falls. She knew to catch as many as she had planned they'd have to make a couple trips out into the forest.
Once all the snares were set, Reila turned to Chimera with that same gentle smile, one that he was sure to be familiar with by now. "Ready to go?" She didn't give him any more ideas, though she wouldn't deny him an answer had he asked. Otherwise he'd just find out as the time came. She ventured out into the forests with quiet paws, scenting for rabbits the lure into their trap.

Once all of the snares were placed where Reila wanted them to be, it seemed as though the woman was ready to track down whatever prey she had in mind. Since the snares were relatively close in proximity, Chimera imagined that their quarry would be something small. Turns out, he was right.
Reila asked if he was ready and the brute nodded. He was always ready. "Your plan?" He asked with a raised brow. Rabbits weren't exactly easy to herd like deer or larger prey animals. They could spin on a dime and disappear like smoke. The only tactic he'd ever used was to lay at the mouth of a burrow while throwing rocks and other things into another entrance. He was curious to see what the small fae had in mind.

The two walked together quietly through the forest until Chimera asked for her plan. She didn't take long to think, she knew it wouldn't be so easy this go around and she was expecting not to be so successful. "I'm a little quicker than you, so I can go wide while you drive them more straight forward." Obviously they'd have to go for bunnies that were already out grazing in the grasses around the falls. Or maybe they could dig around in their burrows if they had too.
The scent was unrecognizable to her, but she had to concentrate to see the rabbit ears moving around in the tall grasses. A couple black and a couple tan, Reila stalked around one end before ensuring Chimera was ready to keep his paws down as a wall for the bunnies to not escape. She ran forward, the rabbits scattering quickly but instantly frightened by being surrounded by their predators. Their only option was to run forward. When they would jump a little farther ahead or a little out of line, she leapt forward like a burst of energy came over her, driving the rabbits back towards Chimera.
Once the snares caught the little bunnies, she went to each one that had been caught to put them down before loosening the peg and pulling the rabbit's still on snares off onto the cart. It would give her the chance to catch her breath before they went back out again.

Reila relayed her simple plan and Chimera shrugged. They'd give it a good shot if anything. The small fae would be able to quickly zip about to put the fine tuning on their chase and Chimera would simply be the big, scary thing that got them running in the first place. He could do that.
The duo ran after a brace of rabbits that were grazing on the sweet grasses around the falls. As expected, Reila snapped at them, keeping the rabbits in line while Chimera snarled and kept them from running off to one side. The snares seemed to work well enough and soon the two wolves were dispatching their fluffy tailed dinner. As Reila tossed the dead bunnies into the cart, Chimera prepared for round two. They still had quite a few snares to utilize.

Reila only took a few moments to regain herself, and hopefully calm any of the commotion that went on around them. She started moving in a completely different direction than they herded the first group of rabbits. She decided to go about the same method, maybe they wouldn't be so lucky next time.
Moving through the trees, she spotted those same little ears flicking over top of the grasses. She only glanced to Chimera again before taking her position.
She made sure Chimera was ready again before jumping out, doing just the same as she did originally to keep the rabbits in line. As they drew closer to the snares, a couple of the hare got away from them. When all was said and done, they had seven total in the cart. She looked to Chimera before continuing, "One more go?" She asked with a little smirk, ready to make one last round.

They did the same thing again, though in a different area. The tall ears were a dead giveaway as to the rabbits location. It seemed that this place was a hotspot for dumb bunnies and it got Chimera to thinking about how valuable this place might be to claim. He pushed the thought aside for now. It was time to focus.
Again they ran the rabbits and again they caught a few. He wasn't keeping count of the total, he was simply throwing them in the cart. They could gut the things later. Rabbits were a little more difficult to gut than a deer since they were so small, but they were exceptionally easy to yank out of their pajamas. He rather enjoyed that part.
Reila questioned him and Chimera nodded. One more run and then they would hopefully have a decent bounty to take back to Fenmyre.

Reila led Chimera along a long path around the falls. She didn't do it on purpose really, she just had her eyes out for rabbits or burrows. They also had to move a little bit away from where they stirred the ground up earlier. By the time they had any hints of the tiny creatures, they would both be refreshed enough for another chase.
Reila had seen some movement in the grasses, a rabbit spotting them before they were close enough and probably ready to retreat from the earlier commotion. She took note and kept her eyes on where the rabbit disappeared to.
She stalked with a little pep in her step as they approached the burrow, and without much thought she used her paws to dig a little inside before sticking her nose in to find the rabbit. The bunny fought back with a small nibble on one of her jowls, it was too late though as she got a hold of it.
With her paws disturbing the ground and some of her snarls made any of the other rabbits escape their home, and some in a nearby burrow as well. They could work on chasing the last few towards the snares, Reila still with a rabbit in her jaws almost like a threat to the others. This hunt would be over with soon.

This round, Reila dug at the entrance to a burrow and Chimera moved to the opposite end, seeking out an alternate entrance. The big brute settled himself just above the mouth of the burrow where the rabbits wouldn't be able to see him. With so much commotion at the other end, they were bound to run to this end. The man waited for a moment, muscles bunched and at the ready. The first rabbit to rush from the warren was small and not worth his time. The second one was fatter and a little slower. The two-toned brute pounced, slamming big paws down on the rabbit before his teeth found the back of its head.
With a rabbit in his jaws, Chimera sidestepped just in time to let another batch of rabbits dart past him. He gave chase, herding them towards the remaining snares. It was slightly comical to see Reila in a similar position, a fat rabbit between her jaws. The hunt would indeed be over soon.
