With summer just around the corner, Strix has decided that it time for him to start patrolling the island. Who knows what kind of predators might be trying to come to the island? But first, he wants to Orthrus. His brother might want join too! It has been made clear that the boys are expected to keep practicing the fighting training that Chimera has been giving them and Strix has decided that there is no better way to do just that then by patrolling! Besides, he sees adults doing it all the time so it can’t be hard… right Searching the area around the compound, Strix calls out, “Hey Orthrus! Where are you? Want to go on a patrol with me?” He keeps an ear and eye out for his brother, eager to be off and keeping the island safe.

"Strix Klein"

Othrus napped on his bed, belly up and paws stretched past his head gave him a comical view for whoever found him in such odd place. He stood up the majority of the night while sleeping at day like a nocturnal fellow. Mostly because of his sensitive eyes. But he was aware that as they grey more spectations were placed. They were the children of the king afterall, so as those thoughts came around he jumped up, shaking the laziness away. He felt shame and disgust to himself, even if with his night habits it was normal. Stretching his legs, he heard the voice from his brother. Strix. That alone pulled him out of the confy house towards the entrance hwere he spotted his sibling. "Hello!" He smiled softly. "Of course!" He would never deny such thing to any of his family members. "Lead the way captain." He mocked him. ""

Strix walks through the compound toward the family’s room since he had no luck finding Orthrus outside. The boy of clouded grays and black pokes his head around the corner and peeks into their room and finds the sibling he has been looking for. Orthrus is stretching and Strix saunters in, a smirk on his lips as he says, “Come on lazy bones, time to do some work.” The words are teasing with no real bite to them, just normal sibling banter. His brother smiles at him and he returns the gesture in kind, chuckling when Orthrus agrees to going on a patrol. When his brother teases him, calling him captain, Strix gives his brother a smile and then sticks his tongue out. Turning back toward the doorway, he calls out over his shoulder, “Well then, keep up Orthrus!” as he bolts out the door.

Laughter fills the air as he rushes through the dark compounded and bursts out into the sunlight, blinking hard to rid the spots that dance in his vison. But Strix doesn’t slow, doesn’t stop instead charging to the beach where the summer heat is more bearable. Paws crunch through the sand as he makes his way toward the water’s edge, only stopping once he hits the sea to turn and splash some water at his brother. He laughs happily, eyes dancing with mischief as he looks toward Orthrus, the joy of youth and family distracting him for a moment. But the playfulness is short lived as Strix spies a large form ambling up out the water some distance away.

Mismatched eyes land the predator and he points it out to Orthrus, saying, “Hey! That lion is invading our home! Come on Orth! Let’s teach it a lesson!” With that the smaller pup charges at the hulking feline, determined to chase it from their shore.


"Strix Klein"

He giggled at his brother's remark, he was someone to thick skin, he found it harmless, and he even found it fun. Now outside of their warm house he took a deep breath, taking in the salt charged wind, feeling it on his brindled hairs. In what seemed like the blink of an eye, Strix boosted out like a rocket out of their cabin. Disappearing into the bright exterior, the sun making its way. That for his sensitive eyes might be an inconvenient but youth and the wish to enjoy pushed him forward, speeding up behind his brother also letting laughs and and goofiness' as he would clash hard into the waves, but not shielding him from Strix's plashes, water landing on his face. "Silly!" He said again on a harmless way, more like affectionate than anything. But there is when the fun and enthusiams turned into danger, an unwanted guest came to water their party. A damned lion. Well that was very weird but he wast going to let the feline to wander near his family. Soon he rushed out of the sea, tail up and hairs high in his way to look intimidating and dangerous. He would aim to sneak upon the cat and then bite hard into it's flank, as his jaws trashed to cause as much pain as possible. Make them regret t ""

The boys race down to the beach, laughter filling the air as they go. Once they hit the water, Strix splashes his brother and Orthrus cheerfully calls him silly. A lopsided grin appears on the boy’s lips as he sticks his tongue out at his brother before his mismatched eyes catch sight of a lion. They are Chimera’s sons and never pass up a chance to chase away any predators that find themselves on their shore. They charge in toward the large feline, the smaller Strix preferring to catch the lion’s attention and keep it on him so his taller brother can attack it.

Strix rushes in, snarling and snapping at the large cat and it quickly rounds on the small annoyance while hissing. A large paw swats after the fast boy, finding nothing by air. Orthrus is silent, sneaking up behind the distracted lion to land a bite on its flank. The lion roars in anger, turning to strike at Orthrus but Strix is already rushing back in to regain its ire. He leaps up, biting into the soft cheek near the cat’s eye. Releasing his hold quickly, the boy races away from the paw swings after him.


"Strix Klein"

Both brothers made their best to get the lion flee or die if it was too dumb to stay while the chances of defeating the two demons were nearly to none. Ears flattened as his lips curled to reveal his growing yet sharp teeth in anger. He was careful with the feline's claws and teeth, paying close attention to its movements, but also checking on his brother, hopping he was all right there. As his teeth sank on the lion's skin and flesh, it grunted in both anger and pain, turning to attack the dark pup. But luckily his brother was quick to get its attention away, allowing Orhtrus to once again go for it's flank, but this time doing his best to keep his body away from its reach by staying at the lion's back side.

"Oscar"

Orthrus and Strix fight the lion, the large cat confused as to how it losing to two pups. As his taller brother attacks the cat’s flank, Strix keeps the feline’s ire focused on him. The smaller boy knows that the family’s mastiffs will have heard the commotion by now and should be on their way so he keeps leaping at the lion’s face, biting, retreating and rushing back in again.

The large predator is uncertain, paws slowly backing him up toward the water where he had recently come from. A large paw swats at the annoying boys but Strix ducks under it, leaping up to grab a hold of the tender flesh on the cat’s cheek again. A yowl of pain and, just as the lion swings a large back to strike at the boy, a small group of the family’s mastiff’s race onto the scene. They bark and growl, peppering the large feline with bites until it has no choice but to retreat.

The lion flees, splashing into the ocean water as the mastiffs and two pups chase after it, only stopping once the feline is out of range. Panting, Strix wades back to shore and plops his butt on the sand while offering Orthrus a huge, happy smile as he says, “We did it! Good job Orth! I’ll fight with you any day.” A happy laugh fills the air as he stands back up and shakes some of the sand out of his coat before moving to give his taller sibling a happy head butt.


"Strix Klein"

This situation was a good example of what kinship and team work could bring them to. He felt safe, powerful with his brother by his side. Both danced around the lion which was beginning to back down from the two intense pups. But that wasnt the only group it should worry about, A group of the family Mastiffs rushed to help them. And that was enough to make the lion leave for good, his lips drops back to cover his fangs, hackles flats as adrenaline drains from his own body. He sat down into the beach, smiling at his brother.

"I do aswell, please lets do more! I will always come to help you, always!" A promise that will stand as long as he breathed. He licks his brother's forehead as he head butts him. Smiling as he gifted Stix with the very small love he ever showed to others. He was shy and found it hard to reflect how he felt.
