Artorias had laid out the plan to expand The Hallows territory and Fern had jumped on the chance to help. The idea of finding a suitable place for the pack to expand had to have a good source of prey and the gray girl had done some scouting in search of a target. After tracking many different animals, she had could the trail of a male tapir. The large, pig-like creature would be a good source of food for the pack and a steady supply of their meat would benefit the growing pack greatly.
Fern gathers a hunting party to head out to Wildberry Grove. With her trusty sword strapped across her back, she leads the way through the twilit panted forest. Silently, the party slips through the tree line, quiet death hunting its prey. Dark nose works to follow their chosen prey’s scent trail as she makes sure that they remain downwind of their prey. Finally, the distance, the dark grey form of a tapir can be seen rooting around in the berry bushes and Fern calls for the group to stop.
Bright blue eyes turn to her fellow packmates, the gray girl softly whispers, “That’s our target. It can be very fast, so go for its legs to stop its retreat and bring it down quickly. We are going to chase it down so, be safe and be smart. We don’t need any injuries here. Okay?” A serious tone rests in Fern’s voice as she addresses the group. This is important for the pack and she would hate to have to explain to Art how someone got hurt on her watch.

Rudy followed along in the group hunt that Fern was leading, musing over how much had changed this year. Memories of coming out here and hunting alone numerous times and with far less experience than he now had come to mind. For all the times he’d come back injured much to his chagrin and his family's fears there were numerous accounts of where he should have come back injured but luck or fate or a talented hawk had kept him safe.
Rudyard listened to Fern speak and give direction, his eyes focused primarily on the tapir. “They are quick to hide somewhere. Thankfully not a lot of water for it to slip into here, guess the berries were too alluring for it to stay near that bit of safety. It’ll likely try and shove itself into the bushes, so I’d suggest we try to keep it away from those when chasing it."
It was Fern’s hunt to make the first move but hopefully, she wouldn’t mind Rudy adding in his own two cents. Other than a quick glance at Fern to check her reaction his attention was back on dinner.

It was time for her pack to grow, to expand it's limits which of course she would support and help with whatever she would be asked to do. And she always loved to give her loved ones a paw, and in this case extra jaws. Hunts were her passion, what had been in her veins since a young age, and after she was told she was eager to join Fern in a hunt once more. She enjoyed the hunts with the grey woman, she always came to learn new things from them and it was fun to cooperate and this time for a greater end. She sat there, for now just listening to the plans. Today a Tapir was on the menu, and she nodded. “That’s our target. It can be very fast, so go for its legs to stop its retreat and bring it down quickly. We are going to chase it down so, be safe and be smart. We don’t need any injuries here. Okay?”. "Okay! I can help with that!" A soft smile was on her lips. She was a bit nervous but excited, posture calm but ready for the work ahead, for the task to bring her pack beyond the horizons. Taking a deep breath she relaxed a bit more. Taking on the landscape around. "" |

Ysmir had only been in the Hallows for a few days when Gwyn volunteered him for the hunting trip into the wildberry grove. It was explained to him that the pack was attempting to expand in this direction, and they were here to prove it could provide for the pack. He didn’t know the other wolves he was running with, nor could he speak with them, but the lovely lady he had fallen for believed him worthy so he would do what he could to prove her correct. He held his dark features high, and his silver plated paws carried him in near silence as he brought up the rear of the group.
He had his concerns about their plan, if the tapir really was as swift and cunning as it was described then giving chase should have been their last option. As one wolf mentioned, it could very easily hide itself into the foliage. He couldn’t say anything and he wouldn’t have anyway. Ysmir was too new to say anything contrary, and it was better to have faith in his pack members than indulge in preconceived notions.
The young Viking gave a quick nod of his head in acceptance, his paws would follow the leader and do as he was bid.

Fern looks to the group giving them a reassuring smile before whispering, “Okay, let’s get a little closer.” As the group moves toward the grazing tapir, the gray girl shifts to outward, slowly working her way around the tapir’s right side while remaining unnoticed. Once the group is as close as they dare to get, Fern gives the others a quick glance to make sure they are ready. A small dip of her head is the only warning the others are given before pale paws pull the gray girl from her hiding place.
Silently she races toward the large, pig-like creature, aiming to get between it and the undergrowth in front of it. Luckily the tapir seems to be engrossed in the ripe berries and doesn’t notice the hunting group until they are almost on top of it. A snarl erupts from Fern and the tapir squeals in alarm as the wolf’s gray form cuts off the underbrush as a viable option for retreat. With a snap of her jaws, the prey wheels around to retreat only to find the rest of the hunting party waiting to bring it down.

Sure, tapir could run pretty fast but that only did them well if enough distance to get to a hiding spot before the wolf got to them. They were quietly moving closer, Rudy’s gaze watched his prey carefully. When Fern moved Rudy moved. The male knew her timing well enough to smoothly split opposite direction of her to get the tapir between them. When the tapir turns back to them Rudy takes another stride still forward, allowing it to escape him. The other wolves were there with him and as long as they followed it should have their prey ringed around them. This certainly wasn’t how he generally would hunt a tapir but he’d never hunted one with so many other wolves.
Running back in Rudy would snap at its back leg, tasting blood but the creature pulled away fast to limit the damage done. Rudy wouldn’t label it dead until it was unable to run. More wolves in a hunt didn’t always mean a better hunt. Hopefully, the group worked well together in all of this.

As promised the hunt started soon enough and in what looked like the blink of an eye the two chaser went ahead and from their hiding spot began the assault to the big beacon. Fern and the rest went to the attack and the Adravendi soon joined. The creature screamed and all it did was trying to run but with the amount of wolves it was very unlike that it would succeed. Jane moved so she could avoid it from finding any escape routes, by snapping and bitting whenever she saw it close to run past the jaws of her partners. "" |

As there wasn’t any disagreement Fern was swift to lead them off into the foliage, and Ysmir had to be on his top game to keep track of his pack mates and their prey. His big paws carry him swiftly, and despite his height Ysmir ducked and dodged through the undergrowth with ease. The thrill of the hunt had his heart hammering and adrenaline spiked in his veins as the group descended upon the dark furred animal.
He watched as Fern leapt at the tapir, snarling and frightening the soft animal it turned tail to flee, but like a well oiled machine her packmates were there to back up her assault. Just like the rest of his fellows Ysmir leapt in so that he could block off any avenue of escape. He trusted their leader to make the final move as the other three of them prevented escape into the underbrush.

The group read each other, moving stealthily and attacking as one. Fern snaps at the tapir and it turns to flee but Rudyard is there to bite a leg and make the pig-like creature squea in pain. At the same time, Jane appears, like gray ghost in the green landscape to rushes in to attack as well, while the silent Ysmir breaks cover to move in and back them up. They work together, hemming the tapir in and, when the gray leader sees an opening, she takes it. Rushing in Fern grabs one of the tapir’s back legs and pulls sideways in a bid to bring the creature down. If Rudy grabs the other back leg and does the same while Jane takes a front leg, the three wolves can bring it down for the tall Ysmir to end. She has faith in her packmates to understand the silent plan as she tosses her weight sideways and starts to pull the tapir down.

Rudy certainly understood the idea of everyone working together to take it down but as Fern grabbed a back leg the motley wolf saw a different way to help the group get it down. Fern’s bite had certainly slowed it and harmed balance. Rudy picked up a short sprint to catch up to be next to the front of the animal, biting at the part of the body that controlled everything else it did, the head. Rudyard’s teeth sunk into the higher-up part of its strange snout. The animal squealed and cried out. It would have been able o break his grip assuredly without Fern also on it but now it had problems on the front and behind. Rudyard’s legs braced to the ground, occasionally moving a bit as the powerful muscles in the creature tried to swing its head about.
Certainly, this would only last so long but Fern and Rudy were hardly alone, this didn’t have to last long at all. A bit of inner amusement as Rudy heard Reddy call out from higher up in the sky. Not alone at all, not only did they have two other wolves with them but a hunter of the air who would be happy to do his party despite the prey size in comparison to him.

Like a single wolf their coordination left no room for failure and as they encircled the beast Jane grew more and more sure about the imminent success. And like if she needed no instructions she did what she though was best, attacking at discretion, bringing the tapir's attention towards herself while her packmates attacked. Eyes focused and on syntonic with each move of the prey. Taking in Fern's silent yet clear intentions she nodded to help. Doing so by targeting the left foreleg, biting it hard as she pulled backwards. Hopping to get it out of under it, wanting to help to finally bring it down. It was time to feast. "" |

Ysmir weaved this way in that as he acted against the wishes of their desperate prey. The young viking could see the way its sides heaved, the whites of its eyes as panic settled in, and the terror as the wolves surrounding it began to sink their teeth into its flesh. Each of the Hallowed wolves descended on the doomed creature, and Ysmir was the last to strike. He wouldn’t hesitate, the perfect moment presented itself and the mute man struck. He was precise and ferocious. Within an instant of his movement the tapir would succumb to Ysmir’s jaws and its life would slip from its body.
The young man let go as it bled out, it twitched in its death throes. The rhythmic paddling of its feet as dead eyes stared into the abyss. Their job was complete, they had victory over their prey.
