Home or his old home was calling and so Kotori had decided to cross back into the grassy plains to look about and take Seere with him.  It had been about a full season since they had left and he expected predators would have realized by now the wolves had left.

There was another hope in the horned wolf.  Spring was right around the corner and that meant bears would start crawling out of their dens and have a good appetite after their long naps.  They would be hungry and looking for trouble.
Kotori didn’t have to search overly long, heading towards the border of the plains where the lake ran he spotted a bear at the edge most likely hoping for a fish dinner.  “There we are.  Be careful.” A simple enough warning, by now Seere had a couple of predators run-ins and it was up to her to decide what she could tackle.  A wolf would never learn to be a true warrior by playing it overly safe.

It didn’t take long even as Kotori spoke his words the bear saw them and roared its warning, standing up to try and impress them with size.  Kotori charged the bear, at first appearing head on but then swerving about to get to its side, biting into the thickly muscled furry leg.  This caused the bear likewise to turn sidewise as it tried to get to Kotori and the wolf likewise danced with the bear.

Seere happily trots next to the taller Kotori, the small monochrome girl glad to be out ‘helping’ a strong warrior. The grassy plains that they find themselves in is new to her (honestly what land outside of Ashen isn’t?) and her mismatched eyes roam the landscape. Luckily, the snow is melting as spring is just around corner and, doubly luckily, the grass has yet to grow to its full height. This means that when Ko spots the large grizzly, Seere can also see it from her shorter spot. The earthen-hued male offers a simple warning and the shorter girl simply nods her understanding.

The grizzly catches sight of them, standing on its hind legs in a show of warning. Kotori rushes in effectively turning the bear while keeping the angry beast’s attention on him. Seere runs, small legs pulling her around toward the bear’s back. It is down on all fours, trying to bite and strike Ko so it completely misses the small monochrome blur of fur that launches herself up onto its shoulders. The grizzly doesn’t feel her meager weight on him, too focused on clawing the tall Kotori to feel a gnat on its broad shoulders. That is… until her teeth suddenly pierce the closest ear and she thrashes her head, shredding it in her mouth.

It roars, in pain and anger, and Seere detaches herself from the bear and its back. Small frame leaps back to the earth as the grizzly aims to spin and strike at her.

Kotori is a bit busy with the bear to pay attention to what Seere is up to.  So long as she was learning something and would at some point step in and take her share of killing the bear.  He spotted her leaping onto its back.  Good job!  He wasn’t going to talk right now but that gave a sign she was learning and growing in confidence.  The moment she bit into the bear it fully looked away from Kotori for a moment.

The wolf was still in front of the bear and perfectly happy to take advantage of the opening.  He rushed in, teeth finding purchase in the neck, getting through the fur and biting into the flesh, pulling back, and quickly the bear’s attention was back on him.  Kotori let go as the bear had the thought to attack him but the horned wolf only circled about to bite at a front leg instead.  If he was going to stay up front he wouldn’t be able to hold onto much for long but the damage would add up and if Seere was doing her part still then the bear was a goner in the near future.

With the bear’s ear shredded, Kotori is able to take advantage of the grizzly’s distractedness to land a bite while Seere races away to reset her attacks. Wheeling around, she immediately speeds back in toward the fight, her small body aiming to come up from the grizzly’s backend. Again, it is too focused on the taller Kotori to notice her weave her way under its belly… that is until her jaws snap shut around one of its front elbows. She tosses her head from side to side, earning a roar of pain from the grizzly. It moves to shift backward when the leg she had been attacking suddenly gives out on it. Confusion clouds the bear’s eyes for a moment and Seere uses the hesitation to race away once again.

Kotori didn’t have to dance about or accept just a leg to bite on for long.  Seere once more was attacking also and confusing the bear on where it should target its attacks, where to go, or how to defend itself.  The large wolf went back to his original bite spot in the neck, slamming his horns into it before jerking his head up and latching his teeth into it, and shaking his head.  His face was well coated in blood from horns to running down his forehead and jaws.  It was all the bears though.

The bear was partially down already but there was some fight left in it.  Really, if they left it alone it would eventually die for one reason or another but this was fight training not just bear killing.  With that thought in mind Kotori stepped away from the bear with a cautious eye.  “Finish it off.  It’s not harmless yet but you can do it without getting hurt if you are careful.”  There wouldn’t always be another wolf to help in a pinch.

"Kotori Fatalis"

The bear’s leg gives out and Kotori rips open a wide wound on the grizzly’s neck with his horns. With the creature mortally wounded, the earthen-hued male steps back and directs Seere to finish it off. Small head nods firmly and mismatched eyes look to the struggling beast. It tries to remain standing but blood continues to paint the ground with each breath it takes. Once more, the monochrome girl races in, approaching from the side its useless leg is on. It can do nothing as she launches up toward the wound, teeth firmly grasping the pulsing, exposed artery and pulling it free. A gurgle, a stumble and the grizzly crashes to the earth, blood now freely pulsing out. Seere returns to Kotori’s side, licking the blood from her lips while offer him a gruesome, blood-filled smile as the bear bleeds to death in front of them.
