The gradual inspection of the falls was going well. Chimera's wolves had come and gone, assessing the land, its bounty and its benefit to expand in such a direction. It was the general consensus that this would indeed be a prosperous venture. So, since it seemed that Fenmyre would be absorbing this land. Chimera began to visit often, working to eradicate the plethora of bears. Or at least work on forming some sort of truce with them. The king wasn't so full of himself to not understand that bears were an essential part of the ecosystem and he didn't want them all gone, but he did want them to know who ruled this place.
Some bears were less cooperative than others. One big, grumpy male decided to give Chimera some issues while out with two of his sons. The giant wolf snapped at the grizzly, giving it ample time to turn tail and run, but it wasn't that smart. It swept a bit paw out at the trio of wolves and the Fenmyrian King gave his head a shake. "Be on your guard. Stay away from the front end." With that, he launched at the bear, teeth ripping into one fat jowl.

After the last outing that he had with his father and a couple of his brothers, he realized that the reason he hadn't really taken to his fighting lessons was the fact that the repetitive practice and drills weren't thrilling enough to keep his attention. Sure, he supposed they needed those kinds of lessons to learn the basics, but now he was ready to move on to something far more interesting and the bear near the falls had scratch that itch. For once he was actually eager to spend time with his father and brother so when the opportunity came up to go scouting the falls again he jumped at the chance. Maybe a small part of him was hopeful that he'd get that proud look from his father again even though he wouldn't admit it.
Moving through the cedar forest, they of course came across another grizzly bear. It seemed like this place was littered with them. He stood on one side of his father, slightly behind his shoulder, while Revenant stood on the other, snarling at this bear while their father snapped at it and tried to give it a chance to run. Of course it didn't so that left them no choice but to fight it. Maybe bears really were just not smart creatures. He gave a quick not to his fathers orders to stay away from the front end and as soon as their dad launched his attack he was on the move as well, skirting around the bear's left side to lunge in toward its back leg, clamping his teeth down hard near its knee so he could thrash his head and do as much damage to the joint and limb as he could.

Patrolling the Cedar Falls as the rest of the pack began to claim it for Fenmyre had already started to feel like more work than play now, and Revenant had decided he hated it. Patrolling was so boring! At least these wild lands still had the added excitement of the occasional predator refusing to leave, but after that first bear fight, the rest seemed to mosey on without much fuss. That was, they did until they came across one particularly surly male who stood his ground. No amount of growls or snarls from himself, his brother, or his father would do the trick, and when Chimera lunged for it, the bear swiped back at the Fenmyrian royal family. So it had chosen death... Chi warned the two lads to stay away from its front end, but Revenant didn't respond. He was already beginning to circle his way around to the side of the bear, working to split its attention.
While Morendo did the same but on the bear's opposite side, the two brothers worked their way around the bear. Revenant waited for Rendo to get the first strike in, tearing the bear's attention away with an angry bellow and giving him a window to rush in and sink his own fangs into the bear's other leg, teeth tearing through fat and its calf muscle in an attempt to hamstring their opponent.

The trio worked together, Chimera keeping the bears attention forward facing while the boys tore into the ursine's big, fatty legs. The grizzly was fast for being as bulky as it was and one tree trunk foreleg hooked around the two-toned brute, pulling him in closer. Chimera released his hold on the bears cheek and bit again, this time slicing through the tender nose of the beast. It roared and released the wolf, shaking its head in pain, leaving trails of blood arcing through the air.
Chimera bounded back a step, regrouping and giving his big body a shake before loping forward once more. The bear rose up for a moment, slamming wide forepaws down on the ground in an attempt to frighten the wolves from what it believed was its territory. This was not the case. Chimera used the bears leap to duck below its fat neck, razor blade fangs cutting through flesh like water. He struck something vital and blood began to jet furiously from the wound. The bear began to thrash a bit in panic and back up as though it would run, but Chi knew it wouldn't get far.

With his deep, thrashing bite into one leg and Reventant's matching bite into the other he couldn't imagine that this bear would really be getting far if it tried to move at all. When he felt like he had done as much damage as he could do in that one bite he let go and hopped back defensively just in case the bear tried to retaliate against either of them. Luckily it was too focused on their father who was still biting into its cheek and then nose to force it to let go of him. Morendo stayed in a readied fighting stance with. a snarl on his bloodied lips while he waited for a good opening, circling the bear slightly to stay out of its main field of view. As it tried to rear up and slam its paws onto the ground, he saw his father swoop in for another deadly attack so he followed suit while the attention was still off of him and his brother. He gripped his teeth into the bear's belly this time, landing the vicious bite almost where its hind leg connected with its body and started ripping and tearing at the softer skin of its stomach, doing as much damage as he could while still watching for any flailing limbs so he could dodge those massive paws.

Revenant didn't mind being an assistant to his father in a fight, but he also couldn't wait until he could start handling predators like this on his own. The Klein prince had a bit of an ego, of that nobody had a doubt, and being the star of his own show was what his mind revolved around. Still, it was nice working in tandem with his brother to cripple and restrain the thrashing grizzly while Chimera did the bulk of the work thrashing at its nose and face. The bear roared, bellowed, and then reared up to slam its massive forepaws onto the ground. The earth trembled beneath Revenant's paws, doing all he could to maintain his hold on his opponent and give the ursine no quarter. Though he was nearly dislodged, Revenant continued to hold on, thrashing wild jaws through the flesh in his hold until he tasted salty hot blood on his tongue. He hadn't noticed the kill shot Chimera had struck on the bear's throat, too busy focused on his own work, but boy did he notice when the predator tried to take off running!
See, Revenant hadn't let go of the bear's leg. Still holding on with all his might, the yearling was suddenly started to find himself being whisked off his paws, dragged behind the bear like a trailer hitched to a truck. He gave a muffled cry of surprise, keeping his jaws locked tight around the bear's ankle as he was dragged across the ground behind the big bulky beast. The bear huffed, choked, gasped for breath, leaving a viscous trail of blood in its wake while it tried to flee, but between the exsanguination and the additional weight of the young wolf hanging off its back end, the grizzly wound up collapsing in a heap a few dozen yards away. The bear struggled for a moment longer, slowly succumbing to its injuries, while Revenant scrambled to get his feet under him again, only releasing the bear once he felt its struggling slow to a nearly imperceptible amount. He took a step back from the dying bear, breathing a heavy sigh of relief while doing his best not to look too rattled by the unexpected abduction he'd just been dragged away on.

The bear, heavily bleeding, turned and ran and took Revenant with it. Chimera's eyes went wide for a moment as he watched the boy be dragged along the grassy and rocky ground. Why the dunce didn't let go was beyond the dire brute, but perhaps it would teach the boy a lesson. A few bumps and bruises wouldn't kill him and he'd surely be just fine. At least Morendo had the sense to let the thing go.
As expected, the bear didn't get far. It fell in a heap, but didn't die. Not outright. Mercy was in order. Chimera was a bastard, but he wasn't cruel to lesser creatures. He was only cruel to his own kind. If he could instill this same mindset into his children, he'd see it as an accomplishment.
"End it," he directed the boys, giving them the opportunity to take the kill. If they were too squeamish, he would do it, but he wanted them to have the chance. "We don't let lesser beasts suffer if we can help it." The bear was down and out, but not dead. They needed to finish the job.
