Kotori was seeing his old home again though he was done with visiting for the sake of memories.  Now he moved along the plains knowing without the markings and setting of his family that it was bound to offer plenty of good hunting.  He still had Tove with him, determined to give her as much hunting experience in as many areas as possible.

The scent of white-tailed deer came to his senses and Kotori slowed.  Crouching in the thick grass he moved onwards till he spotted their prey, glancing through the grass at Tove and nodding in the deer's direction to make sure she’d seen it.  The grass seemed to be growing denser and the paths that the wolves had worn into it were starting to fade away.

“I’m going around it.  I’ll chase it to you.”  He glanced at Tove to make sure she understood before quietly moving away from her.

"Kotori Fatalis"

She follows the taller wolf through the long stalks of grass, eyes keeping a sharp watch out for prey. Tove knows that are plenty here, they smelled a lot of them on the wind. However, finding them was proving a little more… difficult. Kotori suddenly slows and she does the same, the scent reaching her a split second after him. The sight of a white tail deer has her crouching low and looking to the earthen wolf and she listens intently to his word. Giving a firm nod of understanding, Kotori moves away and Tove lowers herself further, ears twitching as she follows Kotori path by the subtle sound of bending grass.

"Tove Baade"

Kotori takes his time moving through the grass, making sure the grass never moves in too rushed of a manner that would give away his position.  The scent of his family is now gone but there are still many scents that bring back other memories for the young wolf.  Someday another wolf might start a pack here and own the land that had once belonged to his family.  Kotori liked the idea of it having no owner, neither himself nor any other.  It was a great spot for prey to gather and multiply in larger numbers without the wolves scaring off large groups.

Once he was fully behind the deer Kotori watched it for a few moments.  Shifting his weight and waited for the deer’s body to be angled perfectly so that it was well staged to run straight at Tov.  When everything was perfect Kotori broke from his hiding spot running towards the white-tailed deer and chasing it straight towards Tove.

"Kotori Fatalis"

Tove hunkers down in the tall grass, waiting for Kotori to get into position and begin the hunt. A breeze combs its fingers through the tall green stalks, making them roll like the waves of the ocean. It helps to hide the earthen wolf progress and movements and soon, a sound of alarm rings out from the deer. She subtly shifts her body, lifting herself slightly and coiling her muscles in preparation for her strike. The sound of hooves hitting ground grows near and she can tell that Kotori is driving it straight for her. Front legs lower a fraction of an inch as the pair approach her hiding spot, the older woman ready to take the deer down.

"Tove Baade"

Kotori heads towards Tove, the deer he’s chasing spreads the grass blades wide and fast so that there is no doubt about the path being taken.  When they get close to where Tove hides Kotori closes more distance, his teeth snapping at the deer’s back leg.  The deer jumps and jerks the leg free with the intent to run again.  Kotori doesn’t give it pause though, his teeth grabbing the other hind leg, this time causing the deer to stumble.

Kotori lets go to not risk getting kicked and expecting Tove to appear and make the killing bite to the neck. Kotori watches, ready to attack the deer again should it get enough balance to try and run again, or to help Tove once she gets the strike in.

"Kotori Fatalis"

Tove is crouched in the tall grass, duel-toned eyes watching the long blades of grass part as the deer and wolf race toward her. A grunt and squeal of alarm from the deer has the older wolf stalking forward, quickly parting the grass to find Kotori working to force it to stumble. The nebula-clad wolf rushes forward, a cry of alarm the last sound the white-tailed deer ever makes as Tove sinks her teeth into it throat and quickly removes it. Its eyes widen, as the ragged hole where its throat was moves, forcing great sprays of hot blood to paint the ground. Soon the struggling stops as its life ends and Tove licks the blood from her lips while looking to Kotori.
