Full of salmon and now ready to run off his meal, Morax moved to the starting line and glanced at the leggy woman's companion who would be starting off the race as he waited for his opponent. He was licking his chops when his sister arrived, and Morax blinked a couple of times to be sure. Then rubbed his eyes. And...yup! Still her. "You ready, March!?" He asked in a friendly tone of challenge. He was eager to see how much more she had improved since she had been ill for so long, but also eager to win. Would she be mad if he held back for her? Probably. But also, it wasn't in his nature to do that...even for a sibling, he supposed. "See ya at the finish line!" Besides, she would probably have his hide if he decided to hold back. He was sure she wanted to give it her all, anyway.

Marchosias approached with a prepatory shake as she went, having eaten her fill of breakfast as well. While she had been surprised to see her brother attend, she hadn't been displeased. A little competition between siblings was a good thing, right? And she knew that he would respect her, even if she failed. That didn't stop the burning desire to win, bubbling up like deep fire in her chest, the challenge burning green in her eyes long before the bark of the officiator. She gave her brother a grin. "Ready as I'll ever be." She chuckled. "Oh, you'll see me."

Eyes fell, hers and undoubtedly Morax's as well, to the little canine. When the jackal gave the signal, March darted forward like a streak of brown lightning, following the frothing river to its source. She wouldn't give a backward glance to her brother, out of pride but also out of a faith in Morax's abilities. He'd catch up, she knew it.
