Symphony was? absent, it had fallen to him to look after the pups. Not that he was complaining too much, they were his children after all. The man was lazing about outside the den, a contented sigh escaping him. With a groan he got onto his paws and approached the den, gently lowering his head he peered into the den, letting out a gentle huffy bark to get his kids? attention. ?Does anyone want to go on a bit of an adventure?? He called softly aware that he might be waking any of his kids from naps.
The sun was slowly setting behind him, it would be dark enough soon, and there was something he was hoping to show them once the sun had disappeared completely.

Sorrel didn't like that their mother had been missing one little bit. It had even brought him out of the den a little more than usual in hopes that he would simply find she'd been playing a very long game of hide and seek. It wasn't one of his favourite games, especially not now though all the same he had hoped it would be true. Although he'd announced his defeat though, there was sadly still no sign of Symphony. She was far too good at the game he decided and whenever they did find her, he'd have to make her promise never to play it again.

Their father was outside at that moment in time, though his head would soon appear at the entrance. Sorrel lay awake, his mismatched eyes now gazing towards the man as he spoke and only shaking his head in response. "No. I want to wait here for mamma to return." He answered, she'd have to get bored and come back at some point and when that happened he intended to be right where she had left him.

Where had their mother gone? He would lift his head, shaking his head before setting his head back on his paws. Sorrel would answer first... And F?li?s response once on the eager side either. ?I don?t wanna go either... I?m worried about mom...? The boy would let out a little whine, looking to his father with questioning eyes. He didn?t know where she was either... Did he? If he did he didn?t show it. The boy had become less bold since the disappearance of their mother...

?She?s gonna come back... Right? She?s just playing a game or something... Or on a trip or something... But mom?s gonna be back soon... Isn?t she?? His words were not only questioning but pleading. He was worried for her. He?d lift his head, ears lowering some as he glanced at Sorrel and then their father. He didn?t know if he?d have answers but... Even some sort of encouragement was definitely needed for the child, if not all of them.

She laid curled up with her brothers, warm and safe but something was missing. It wasn't the same, and it hadn't been for some time. Sleep was restless for her. Often causing her to whine and wiggle around all night. She tried to find comfort between her brothers but she was sure she only made their sleep worse. The voice of her father woke her up. Bi-colored eyes flittered open slowly and she yawned with a squeak. She wanted to go back to sleep, not go on an adventure. And though normally she would have been up and bouncing around for it. With mother gone she didn't want to go out. She always knew mother was watching and with her gone she didn't feel safe out there anymore. And though daddy was there and she adored him as her hero in all her little adventures and stories, it just didn't feel right.

She listened to her brothers, head on her paws."Daddy can we sing out to her? Maybe she'll hear us and come back?" She said softly and sat up. She knew singing was mommy's favorite thing. Maybe it would work.

Gitan had done his best to keep himself upbeat for the children, the last thing they needed was to be worrying. Of course he had failed and yet he had kept at it, trying to make them feel better despite his own worry and heart ache. When Symphony had first disappeared he had wanted nothing more than to run off and find her, but then he had thought of the pups and had known that he had to stay with them, had to look out for them; because if he lost them then he would truly be broken.
Sorrel was the first to respond, much the way the earthen man had suspected; of all the children the boy was by far the most attached to Symphony. Felicien would then respond in kinda, echoing his twin?s feelings. Gitan sighed and dropped his gaze. ?I know you are mon grand, I am too.?
Still his son continued to speak, and he felt his heart break a bit more than it already was. He was about to reply when his only daughter spoke up, she had been silent till this point and it made him suddenly flick his gaze in her direction. He allowed a sad little smile as she made a suggestion and he nodded. ?Of course we can ma petite poule, come let?s call mommy hein? ? He pulled away then, settling upon his haunches to await his children.

She had just gone to get some space, some room from everyone. The conversation with Song was not how she had planned for it to go. They were too much alike, thus clashing all the time. She had left in silence when all were sleeping, running to where she knew not. She just ran. It had to have been dawn when she slowed down. The anger that had fueled her was empty. She stood there bewildered as to where she was. How far had she ran? Was she even still in Ala? That's when the earth began to rumble. Everything shook, the ground gave way under her. She had tried to out run the gaping hole but her paws could not reach ground that held intact. She fell into the open jaws of the earth. She could not remember how long she had stayed in the darkness. She couldn't move, one leg broken and a back leg sprained. But images of her family, her little pups, her love called to her. She fought and fought till the last rays of the sun shone upon her has she dragged her broken body out.

She was lost, her sense of direction gone as she had lived those few days down in the hole. She tried and tried to move, to find her way home. But oh the pain was unbearable! Not even Atlas was around to guide her. She felt so alone, her head still pounding from the crash. It hurt to focus, to try and do anything. But the fire of needed her pups, Gitan burned her. Her skin felt like it would melt right off. In truth she must have had a fever. In a state of pain, shock, dehydration she stumbled, crawled to home. In the days that had passed she was able to use three legs properly, her left forelimb held up close to her chest.

Night was almost upon Ludi when her paws finally crossed the border. She was no longer thinking, her body lurking in a desperate need to get to her pups. Her eyes blazed in a mix of delirium and the hungry need to reunite with her children. Nothing would stop her, not matter what she would return to them. As she approached the den her breathing was labored, head lowered. At first the sight of Gitan was unfamiliar to her. All she knew was that her pups were in that den, at least she hoped so. A snarl let loose from deep in her chest. She must have look deranged. Her fur filthy with earth and dried blood, eyes crazed, hackles raised. She was a mother ready to take down anything that blocked her from her babies even if she had only three legs to stand on. She wasn't seeing clearly, yet she made no move yet.

For once the children all agreed on something, they longed for their mother to return. In Sorrel's opinion it'd been far too long since she had been at his side and he wasn't liking that fact one bit. There was no sign at all and yes, like his siblings it worried him, nothing had ever stopped his mother from returning back to the den each time she left, and this absence simply wasn't right.

He had tried calling for her on his own, but perhaps as a group such a thing just might work. He had his doubts about the theory, but Sorrel still certainly hoped so for he really didn't want to go another night without the warmth of his mother at his side. Sure he had his siblings and his father still, but it just wasn't right, he needed Symphony too.

As if the mere will-power had brought her back the white form would now come limping towards them. In such a state though Sorrel remained frozen to the spot for a moment, the sight before him so unlike the pristine state he typically saw his mother in and truth be told he was scared. "Mamma?" He questioned softly and for the first time would seek his fathers comfort over hers, moving close to Gitan's side. "Papa, what's wrong with her?"

F?licien?s ears would lift slightly at his sister?s suggestion. Once voice might not be loud enough for their mother to hear them and come back... But together... Just maybe if they sang out together she would hear them. His father would agree with the suggestion and this would be enough to get the boy up, moving to go to his father?s side. If it worked... If it worked... He had to hope it did. He wanted desperately to see his mother... And he knew Cerise and especially Sorrel did as well.

As if by some miracle the mere mention of singing out to their mother had brought her to them. But F?licien would freeze, falling just behind his father as he heard the snarl. Sorrel would move to their father?s side, voicing his concern at what was wrong with their mother. F?li wondered too, but rather than seek their father for guidance in this the pup would slowly walk toward Symphony, ears lowered as a whine left him.

?Mom... Mom it?s us...? What had happened to her? She looked hurt... And the fact that she might even be in a state that could be dangerous didn?t even cross F?licien?s mind. He just wanted to go to her... To make sure she would be okay and never leave them again.

It was just as his children were beginning to join him in the outside world that a familiar scent reached him, and he turned to see her. Like a ghost from the mist she had appeared rather suddenly, and just as unsettling as ghost Gitan could tell something was wrong. She had a paw lifted to her chest, blood and dirt caking her usually pristine coat and an angry snarl? directed at him. Automatically he shifted his position, turning around to face her completely, rising into a sitting position and angling himself so that the bulk of his form blocking the entrance to the den.
But it was no matter, the pups were already moving out of the safety of the den. Sorrel, seeking out his comfort for the first time in the man?s memory, but it was not that son that preoccupied his mind. F?licien would instead head towards Symphony. Gitan was on his paws in an instant. ?F?licien non!? He cried as he began to chase after his son. ?Get in the den!? He called back over his shoulder at his remaining children. By the time that Gitan caught up to his son the boy was nearly at Symphony, and when Gitan stepped in front of him he was much too close? Gitan didn?t dare back up though, he was more like to trip or step on F?licien so he found himself staring right into the eyes of the delirious female.

She was just taking a few steps to go to Daddy when a rumbling noise had her freeze. Eyes widened in alarm as her head turned to see her mother. Something was wrong, that much she knew from just looking. Mother was covered in dirt and dried blood, she looked skinnier and her eyes were the most frightening. They held this look she could not understand. It was like mother wasn't really there. Her growling didn't nearly scare her as much as the look in her eyes. With a squeak she darted to the belly of her Daddy, hiding into him. He'd save them and fix mother.

But just as suddenly as she had buried herself in Daddy, he was jumping forwards, yelling at Feli. She turned to watch, jaws gaped open in shock."Feli!" She breathed out in a sharp intake. Eyes looked for Sorrel and she scrambled over to her brother. She pressed into his shoulder. For once the normally brave girl was frightened. Her eyes stayed fixed on her parents, wide with terror.

She stood there, stiff and rigid till one of the pups came towards her. At once her snarling had ceased to a stop, ears perked up and her face softened besides the evidence of pain. Her mind came back to her, oh her sweet little Feli. She was about to drop to the ground as he neared her. But then something blocked her view. At once she went back to the enraged mother. Body pulled back sharply, ears pinned down again as an earth shattering growl as her eyes fixed on Gitan. How dare someone block her path from her own child! But as her eyes fixed on his deep green pools she softened. This was no stranger, this was not just some wolf she knew. He was her mate, her love. A strangled gasp left her and her body seemed unable to hold her up no longer. She crashed to the ground with a muffled yelp from landing on her broken leg.

She looked up at Gitan, eyes glazed in exhaustion, pain, and the inability to keep focus. But she saw him, saw them all now clearly. She saw Sorrel and Cerise in the background huddled together in fear. She saw Feli through Gitan's legs, then up to Gitan's face. "My babies...I just want my babies" She said softly as tears streamed down her face. They were all here, all safe and whole. The stress she had been under with worry lifted off her heart. They were ok, sobs racked her body in pure brilliant relief. "They're..ok..my babies" She gasped out.

The ferociousness in his mother's appearance didn't seem to vanish, physically covered in blood and holding her paw in close it was rather obvious what was wrong with her but why she was acting like this the boy simply couldn't understand and he didn't like it one bit. He wanted his mother back properly, not this terrifying woman before them now.

His father's comfort wouldn't last long, F?li daringly stepping closer to their mother and Gitan swiftly rushing in to stop him before he could reach Symphony. Sorrel whimpered softly, still so confused and scared by the situation and he would lean back against the smaller form of his sister as Cerise timidly joined him, clearly just as worried by it all.

Their father ordered them to head back inside, but frozen with fear Sorrel found that his feet wouldn't move. He wanted his mother and though she wasn't right a part of him longed to help her. But first she had to stop being so scary. It was at that point, after another terrifying growl sounded that suddenly Sorrel would get his wish. Symphony would crumble to the floor in tears and her soft words were so much more like his mother that his fear would fade.

He was still a little cautious in case the monster in her returned, for her knew such growls couldn't possibly be his kindly mother's fault, all the same though, Sorrel would take a few steps forwards that longing to comfort her and be comforted far too overpowering to deny any longer. "Mamma, what's wrong?" He would ask, moving past his father and to her side, now repeating his unanswered question to her.

F?licien would glance back to his father, ears lowered. He knew that his father had called out for him, but worry for his mother brought the boy this close and he wasn?t about to simply move away. He would glance back to his mother, right before his father stepped in front of him. He would take a step back, eyes questioning as he looked up at his father. His mother... What was wrong with her? Tears started to fill his eyes. Why was his father trying to keep him from her? Was she really... dangerous? The pup couldn?t ever imagine his mother using the word.

When he had first approached his mother the snarling had stopped, expression softening. He was sure she wanted them... And even if he was a little scared he had followed his instincts that it was the right thing to do to go towards her, rather than take the obvious step and go back. But the moment his father moved in the way she became angry again, growling with such ferocity that F?licien dropped to the ground in fear, ears laying flat against his head as a whine left him. But then something seemed to register within his mother, seeing and knowing that this was not someone she needed to fight.

Then he would hear her... His real mother. He would rise shakily, looking to his mother again. She was weak... Hurting. But she wanted them... Just wanted to see them. F?licien would weave under his father?s legs, getting just a bit closer as ears lifted slightly. His face was saddened though, feeling the need to cry along with his mother as sobs shook her. He would whimper, looking at her sadly. ?Momma... what happened?? His words would escape him as Sorrel asked a familiar question, moving to stand beside his twin now. He would press lightly into Sorrel?s side, drawing comfort from his twin.

Gitan could see something shift in her, as he stared into those gorgeous eyes of her?s. A gasp tore itself from her body and then she was collapsing. He was jumping forwards in an instant, but not fast enough she landed with a yelp and his heart jumped into his throat. She looked up at him and it took all his strength not to collapse right there, he wavered on his paws but managed to remain standing. He still wanted to protect his children but the pleading in her voice, and the pitiful look she was giving him broke through his defenses.
Gitan moved out of the way as Felicien began to approach, then the rest of them moved towards her. The man dropped to his haunches suddenly, the fight leaving him. He breathed a deep sigh, gaze never leaving her. ?Oh Symphony.? He breathed softly. ?What happened??
