With Aliana having given birth to a single pup, Chimera swore off of having more children. Not that having a daughter was a bad thing by any means. The brute was a good father, he'd been told, and he loved all of his children dearly. Three daughters simply seemed like a good number and he had more than enough sons. He thoroughly enjoyed having puppies on the island, but he would have to make due with what he had.

Today he was taking Artemus, the newest addition to the family, out for a little stroll through the island. Chimera showed the girl the various landmarks such as the giant wooden gazebo, the set of waterfalls deep in the jungle, the community firepit on the beach and the little raised huts where the members of the pack called home. He wanted to give the girl this sense of direction so that she would never be lost while within her home.

As they walked, Chimera nosed the tiny pup gently. "If you get too tired, let me know and I'll carry you." He missed carrying Ruse around. So far, Artemus seemed a little more independent than her sister, so he gave the girl the option. He wouldn't smother her, but he definitely wanted to baby her and show her just how precious she was to him. Chimera placed a lick to the top of the girl's head, righting a few rogue strands of fur. His heart swelled. He truly did adore his children.

Early life had been relaxed, at least from Artemus' perspective. Lots of napping, lots of wriggling, time spent watching leaves dance in sun, dancing with them. She had been both relentlessly curious and easily distracted, with so many things to know and to understand. Even within the complex there had been bugs to catch! But she knew that staying inside wouldn't sustain her forever, and it seemed her parents understood that, because soon after she had felt the impatient itch to go find more, Chimera had decided to take her for a walk.

The pup's pace was breakneck considering her size, as fast a trot she could manage without breaking into a run. A girl on a mission, eyes fixed on each new noise and rustling of foilage. There were a couple of detours taken, typically spurred by the sighting of a large bug. Plenty of impossible question fired her father's way, 'Why's the sky blue,' 'Why does the ocean stay at the shore,' 'What the heck made that noise?'

Her expedition was interruped by her dad's speckled nose, nudging her gently, the movement still enough to lose her balance for a moment, leaning dangerously to one side before rectifying her posture and pace. "Okay." She responded to his offer quickly and flatly, in the cheerful tone of a child who hadn't considered accepting it for a second. She grimaced at the rogue lick her father gave her. It was her fur damn it! Maybe she like it that way?! She responded with a halfhearted snap at his muzzle, never fully closing her jaws, not actually seeking to do any damage. The offense was doomed to miss given her father's towering height, but it was the principle of the thing that mattered.

Rusalka wandered through the island, feeling a bit aimless as she tried to decide what to do with her day. She had spent some time with her mother and Aunt Siren, but neither of them had felt like going and exploring with her so new she was looking around, trying to see if perhaps she could find one of her brothers or maybe even Kione and convince them to accompany her. She was a bit older now and was allowed more freedom than she once had, but she had seen all of the lands closest to the pack's borders multiple times at this point and if hs was going to wander any farther she felt like she ought to have more of a presence with her than just Hoax. She was a good dog, no doubt about that, but Ruse didn't like worrying her father and going out on her own with just one mastiff with her seemed like it was just asking for him to worry.

Right as her father crossed her mind, she caught a glimpse of his two-toned, massive form through the trees and a grin appeared on her face, her tail wagging gently behind her. It wasn't all that often she managed to catch him these days with how many different directions he was being pulled at once so whenever she saw an opportunity to even spend a moment with him she always took the chance. She bounded forward with a graceful leap over one of the fallen logs and popped through the lush jungle plant life just in time to see her newest little half-sister snapping up at their father's muzzle. Her pale pink and blue gaze widened with shock at the sight, both amazed that the little pup would be so bold and also secretly glad as she protected her coveted spot as their father's favorite daughter.

"Dad! Artemus!" she called as she trotted over to join them, subtly intervening before Chimera could decide if he wanted to bop the little girl on the head for the infraction or not. She gave them both a grin, her tail wagging behind her as she fell into step on the other side of her father, reaching up to place a kiss on Chimera's cheek. "I was just looking for someone to accompany me for some exploration, but maybe I could just join you two instead?"
