But she wanted to try and change that, to learn new techniques and observe how others fought, and what better way to do that than going up against strangers? She had let Ardyn know where she was going, that she'd likely be gone for a couple of days as she aimed to explore the world a little more. Since her pup hood, she had stuck mostly to Valhalla, heading out with Ardyn for diplomatic affairs and keeping him company, but she felt she ought to go out on her own once in a while. She enjoyed his company, but sometimes she felt like her tagging along might be a nuisance or like she was too dependent or something. She took a deep breath, the long hairs of her tail grazing the ground, the glow of her fur pulsing with her heartbeat. She had no companions to help her, just the weapons and armored cloak she crafted herself that she wore, as well as her own natural weapons. She also wanted to test out the antlers that had grown in over the Spring season. She assumed they had been a late aftereffect of the Long Nights, but she didn't mind having them. There was word on her own horizons that she should be prepared for a future raid. While it would have made sense to practice sparring on her own turf, she wanted more experience sparring with strangers. The unpredictability and different techniques would help her stay on her toes. Plus, there were only so many wolves in her pack that she could train with before they got annoyed or tired of her. Making her way north from Auster, gathering herbs along the way, she made sure her companions kept close. As she crossed the border into the Battlefield, a feminine howl lit the sky. Glancing over to her companions as they glanced at her, she smirked before heading in that direction. An equally tall and pretty female stood at the ready as Tenshi approached. Shifting her shoulder pads so that they sat more comfortably across her shoulders, she dipped her head in greeting toward the stranger. "Shall we get started?" Her thickly accented voice is confident as she glances over her opponent with steel blue eyes. Knowing her opponent would be faster, Tenshi kept her distance for now. Letting her ears fall back, tail align with her haunches, and chin tucked slightly, she grabbed for one of her throwing stars. Keeping one eye on the pale-coated girl, Tenshi flung her muzzle in her opponent's direction and released the sharp throwing star. Hoping to land it either in the woman's shoulder or at least spook her enough to distract her, Tenshi began to close the distance between them. You couldn't kill me if you tried A stranger appeared. Someone she had never seen before of course, from a pack she wasn't familiar with according to the scent. The woman was just about as tall as herself with a set of antlers of her own and a few companions with her. Tel studied them for a moment, feeling outnumbered, but that was fine. She was here for this very reason, to learn from those that were different than what she was used to, so this was definitely something that she was prepared to face. Sort of. The woman asked one question, and one question only before she reached for something, and the next thing Tel knew, something sharp came flying at her, glinting in the light as it sped in her direction. Gasping in surprise, she just barely managed to dodge it, but as it whizzed by, it grazed her thigh and cut a few hairs off her tail as it went. As Tenshi moved to meet her, Tel bounded forward as well, angling towards her right from her initial dodge of the weapon to try and get past Tenshi's side and towards her flank, claws outstretched as she sought to catch the woman's hind leg with her claws, and hoping her feathered blade might catch her underside or ribs at the same time. With momentum in her step, she watches as the other female steps aside to dodge her throwing star. Unsurprised, she continues forward. It would be foolish to believe that everything would go her way in a spar. Keeping her balance steady as she shifts her rear end away from Tel's trajectory, she sees the sharp claws aiming for her flank. Pivoting as fast as she can manage, she feels the claws graze her. Due to her thicker skin, the damage isn't nearly as bad as one would expect. As Tenshi continues to swing out of the way, she finally plants her rear paws into the ground. Stabilizing herself, she takes the front of her body and lunges toward Tel. Attempting to close the distance between them to avoid more scathing from the sharp claws, Tenshi reaches out toward her scruff. Bracing her shoulders, twisting her face, and opening her jaws, she aims to grab ahold of the thick fur. Keep her opponent close without doing too much damage for now. You couldn't kill me if you tried The other woman managed to pivot out of the way, though Tel's claws managed to graze her, but it wasn't quite the hit she was trying for. Tenshi ended up facing her shoulder, lunging towards her to close the distance as she felt teeth closing in around her scruff. Growling in surprise and mild frustration, Tel replanted her paws, came to an abrupt stop like a bronco trying to make its rider smack into the back of its head or neck and threw her head back. If she was lucky, her new antlers would smack against Tenshi's own and rattle her, or perhaps even get between and knock her on the head (though not too hard, she wasn't trying to knock her out!) She was still figuring out how to fight with these things, and so far, this was the first time that they might help her when someone tried to grab her the way Tenshi just did.
