Ooc:: Lucy is on the border / coming to visit Eden! She does not mean harm to the Pirates but I know IC is IC if any tier two or above wolf comes to investigate some stranger at the borders. --- It had happened suddenly. One moment she was returning back to the range with Bae-Syl and Ink… and the next they were hit with the scents of a pack border. Lucette had been shocked, even a little heartbroken that their temporary home had been stolen out from under them. Even the orchard, which she had thought would be a safe backup plan to return to, had been claimed by the very same pack it seemed. Lucy was heartbroken. The memories of both places would now have to remain just that; memories. Who knew when she would actually be able to return to either one? For the time being she had set off with Bae-Syl toward Fern Gulley. It was somewhere close, could be somewhere that they could return to, and she could stock up on herbs in her back before they set off for their next destination. Before they left to find somewhere, however, Lucette wanted to visit someone. A kind-hearted woman who had given her a healing lesson in the Gulley not that long ago. But long enough, she knew. Eden had said that she was due in what, about a week at an estimate? At least when they had last seen one another. It had been more than that. No doubt the woman had her paws full with her new litter yet, still, Lucy wanted to see her before they left. It might become harder for her to come to visit, and for Eden to meet her, once they left the area. Especially because of the little ones. It made Lucy feel a little sad. Eden was so nice… she was going to be a great mom! Lucette wasn’t sure what to expect when she came to the border. She wasn’t afraid, though. If the Pirate King, or anyone else, also responded to her call she would politely explain she wasn’t there to cause problems. She just wanted to see Eden was all. As Lucette neared the border sand started to mingle with the grass. It became discolored and… “Ah! Son of a…!” She growled aloud as her paw slipped across something sharp and she winced. Lifting it a moment later revealed why… a shell, jagged, was sticking up in the grassy sand. She narrowed her eyes. “You have got to be kidding me..” Lucy grumbled with frustration. She held her paw up as she now limped the rest of the way to the border. Then, waiting on the appropriate side, she lifted her head back and called for Eden, the bit of pain she felt from the cut slipping into her voice. This was… not how she wanted to come and see Eden. She wasn’t supposed to get hurt on the way! She couldn’t even enjoy the sun reflected on the black sands of the beach now… she was too busy mentally cursing the fact she’d been so careless and gotten cut. "Talk, 'Think.'

Eden was not one to be away from her children for too long. She managed to slip away when they and Ignis slept, him recovering from his latest wounds and them being puppies. Their birth had been tiring on all of them, not just Eden. She sniffed along the beach, trying to find a pretty shell or two. Though impossible to know if Rivin would like it when she grew up, the woman wanted to present all her children with a special present. Rivin was just the only girl, so pretty shell it was!

Hearing noise along the border, she paused. Her eyes flickered in worry, smelling blood and hearing yells. There didn't seem to be any pirates around, nor near the border for that matter. A trespasser? She was about to call for help when someone called to her. Lucette. Eden walked toward the call, smiling. It would seem their 'hang out' would be sooner rather than later. Though the smile slipped when she noticed the blood pooling around her paw. Another pad cut on a shell.

She'd have to clean up the beach once she had time!

"Oh, dear" she murmured "go and lick it, Lucette" she instructed "the blood will stop flowing with your rhythmic licks... I'll find something to bandage it with" She had her satchel of herbs, and brought it out but also had a skin of fresh water. She approached Lucy with this "ah, first I'll put this water on it. It's not cold but also not hot" She added kindly before allowing a small trickle of cool water onto the open wound. It washed the blood and dirt away "now, lick it, please."

At least while she was waiting she could do some thinking. And her thoughts were on the range, on the small, but useful store of herbs she’d already gathered prior to this. Maybe… maybe if she just talked to the new alpha they’d be understanding? It wasn’t like she had anything to lose by talking to them. She and Bae-Syl didn’t even have a plan yet… she drew in a breath. She had a better chance of talking to the alpha and figuring out something than just wandering around willy-nilly right now. At least it was Spring, too. Of all the times they could have been displaced this wasn’t a bad one. Eden came and Lucette gave the woman a sheepish smile. “Guess shells are sharper than I thought.” The other woman wasted no time, telling her to lick it. Oh, right, yeah… Cleaning her wound. She started to move to do so when Eden moved closer, saying she would first put the water over it. The girl nodded, bracing herself for the sting of the cool water washing over the wound to wash blood, dirt, and sand away. “You’d think as a healer I’d be quicker to tend to myself.” She made the comment as the water poured. But no, Lucette had little sense of self-preservation. In fact, it was only because of Bae-Syl that she’d even try to avoid those cousins of his. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been bothered by them at all. Well, til they tried to eat her, probably. But would it be too late by then? She didn’t want to think about it… so she didn’t. She focused instead on moving her head to the now clean paw and rasping her tongue over the wound. She made a face - wolf blood was not her favorite thing in the world to taste yet her duty as a healer made it necessary. She flicked her ears back slightly, wanting to talk to Eden but knowing it was unwise to leave her wound, even small, untreated. So for now she followed the other healer’s wishes, helping the blood to clot before drawing back after some time. "Talk, 'Think.'

"Do not be so hard on yourself."

Eden knew it was better than letting the girl's conscious fester alone. "It took me two years before I decided to become a healer and study herbs. I got a crash course from some strangers when they could find the time, but I never took it seriously" she shook her head as she watched Lucette clean the paw. Satisfied it was free of sand and dirt, she reached out to grasp the ankle gently "I was forced to grow up, more or less, when my partner kept getting hurt. I had to overcome my dislike of blood, the taste of blood alone..." She sighed, frowning.

Ignis should know how much she learned for him. Him alone. But would he admit she had learned for him - or assume it was because of the Plunder? He already accused her of bedding others in the pack. She pushed thoughts to the side. Confusing as they were, she had to work through them later. "Here's some horsetail..." she added, placing herself into the conversation once more. Eden quietly kneaded the plant, adding water to paste it. She added this to the open wound before leaning back. "I'll wrap it up too." She decided this.

Lucette gave a soft chuckle at Eden’s words. Don’t be so hard on herself, huh? “I come by it honest. My mom is reckless too.” She quieted, listening to Eden about how it took two years before she even became a healer. Having a “crash course” didn’t sound the greatest… but if she hadn’t been taking it seriously… which in and of itself was hard to believe looking at the woman now. She seemed so calm, so collected like she knew what she was doing. The yearling’s gaze fell. “I originally started learning about healing because my dad was too afraid to let me try fighting.” She explained. “I was the only pup in my litter and there were complications when I was born. Despite my mother being considerably larger than dad… I was born tiny and kind of weak. Dad fought to keep me alive. I can see where he was coming from though. Tiny wolves aren’t exactly a powerhouse, can’t throw their weight around as a bigger wolf could.” Lucy shrugged as the older she-wolf worked. “I hated it… being small. So dad started showing me herbs, telling me that just because I was little didn’t mean I couldn’t find uses in other ways. I’m fast, and have the skills to be a runner or diplomat if I wanted to join a pack I guess… but truthfully I became fascinated by herbs. They might not taste very good, and the taste of wolf blood is gross, but the process is what fascinates me. The ability for such simple things to tend to our hurts, inside and out.” As she spoke Eden would be able to tell that there was true love for the craft starting to bloom. “It’s just… as you said before… I need to learn to separate myself when treating someone I care about. Normally I can be so calm, and focused… but when Bae-Syl got hurt it shook everything that I thought I knew. I was questioning myself, my treatment…” Lucette furrowed her brow as she thought about it. She cared about the rainbow-marked man a lot. Azure’s words, too, bothered her… how he said it didn’t feel as those Bae-Syl was putting her first at all. They troubled her. “If you ask me… being a healer is even harder than being a fighter or a hunter.” Lucy spoke thoughtfully. “We take the lives of others into our paws. While there can be other factors for if they properly heal or not rests on us at a start. I know not every wolf can be saved, but if we don’t try, then they might not make it at all.” She’d been thinking a lot more about that as of late. “...and the fact there are wolves out there that would hurt a healer, sees them as weak… it just… makes me sad.” She furrowed her brow. “...that’s actually why Bae-Syl and I’ve… avoided living in a pack.” She confessed softly. Gosh, she was getting chatty… probably because she hadn’t had anyone to tell any of this to. “Some… really bad wolves… his cousins… if I ever disappear one day, it’s probably because they got me and tore me apart.” She was frowning but there didn’t seem to be any fear in her voice regarding them. Death was a part of life… she wouldn’t be able to live forever. But though there was no fear she was bothered by the information. Wolves who would kill her, eat her meat, and wear her skin as a coat… it was hard not to be unnerved by such information. It was far from normal behavior to wear one of your own kind. How… how sick were they? How strong were their demons? She tried to focus on the horsetail that Eden had added, giving a small nod at the fact it’d be wrapped too. “Thank you…” "Talk, 'Think.'

"My parents..." Eden began, dragging some bandages out of the satchel "did not teach me much. Just to hunt and survive on my own" Gilgamesh's treatment made her have some fresh gauze left over, so she was thankful for that "they thought I was weak, so they never taught me to fight" Pyralis' words echoed in her mind, that just because she was small didn't mean she was worthless "I tried to learn other skills, but without a mentor or a parent teaching me, it was near impossible." So, in the end, she decided to be a healer.

"Healing was not a passion for me at first" she did confess "it was a way to survive and make myself useful. Even before joining the Plunder, I knew I'd be worthless doing other things for a pack" she shrugged as she wrapped below Lucette's ankle "so I decided to be a healer for any that took me in. Learn other things later" But "I had aspirations. If I was forced into the role, I wished to be the best. Many other packs have Lead Healers already. The Plunder let me learn and be one of the only ones."

Eden lifted the ankle a bit, checking to see if the gauze was properly wrapped. Not even a tuft of fur was poking out. Good. She lowered it gently to the earth. "How does that feel, Lucette?"

So her parents didn’t teach her much either. Lucette didn’t think it was necessary because her parents thought she was weak, in her case, but because they wanted to protect her. Healing was probably the safest skill for her to learn, but she had been fearless. Wandering the world was her greatest passion and she had actually learned to love healing. It wasn’t bad at all. Though to have parents who only taught you to hunt a little bit, and just enough to survive… the idea made her sad. At least her parents were supporting her wanting to learn. She felt a bit sad for Eden, but it seemed that things were looking up for her now. “From what I’ve heard a pack will work with you, so long as you’re willing to learn. It’s good that you’ve learned so much here in the Plunder too. It can be… frustrating to want to move forward and not be able to. It sounds like you’ve found a good place here.”  Lucette frowned a little more, watching as Eden bandaged her. “My bestie is… not comfortable with joining a pack right now. So I’ve been learning what I can from who I can. Bae-Syl has even started to teach me to fight so I can defend myself when the time comes.” Lucette tested her ankle, twisting it a little before setting it back to the earth. “Much better, Eden, thank you.” Her gaze softened. “So! You’ve had your babies?” She looked thinner so that was probably obvious. The woman also had a distinct milk scent about her. “How many were there? What do they look like?” "Talk, 'Think.'
