Baelfire sniffed along the cave's floor, the nursery Mama had made void now. He and his siblings were old enough to wander and walk, so Eden moved them back in with Papa. If the red wolf was disgruntled about it, Bae always tried to be quiet and not talk as much as his siblings. Mama was tired, Papa was hesitant... He could see it clearly on their faces. But he wanted to see the nursery, the place where they were born. He told Eden he was going there, and she nodded her approval.

The nice mossy bed had been moved to the main family den, but he could still smell them on the floor. The herbs had been transported here that Mama had gathered, away from the pups. He looked into the satchel she often wore and saw a bunch of lavender. Nothing very serious nor harmful. The nursery was converted from a nursery into a storage area... Unaware of King Sparrow denying more pups, he would have said it made sense if he knew. There had to be a location to store things in, after all! Especially away from annoying and prying children.

Or just annoying adults.

Bae sat down slowly, still getting used to his growing body. He caught movement at the entrance of the nursery slash storage and looked over to see a wolf standing there. He remained silent, eyeing them. Maybe they were just here for Mama's herbs, maybe they were here to explore, or maybe... They were here to see him. The thought alone was exhausting.

Ajax had too much energy, a drive nipping at his heels that made it so very difficult to just be. There was so much he wanted to do and so little time to do it all. He was already chomping at the bit, struggling against the concept of borders and lines he shouldn't cross if he knew what was good for him. But that was the question, did he know what was good for him? And did he care? Not really, to both. A sort of familiar scent had the soft brown of his nose twitching. They smelled like Eden but not wholly, like a part of her had been mushed into another, resulting in a puppy smaller than him dappled with gold. Like sunken treasure just out of reach, shimmering on the sea floor beneath the midday sun. It was weird though, his siblings usually seemed happy enough to see him, whilst this one...just wasn't. "What you doin'?" Ajax asked, lingering by the doorway with his head tipped to the side.

He was terrible at socializing with others outside of his family members. Bae resisted the urge to scrunch his face at the question, turning to look at the russet-red pup. Not much older than him, but still. Mama said to be polite; they were King Sparrow's pups. "Nothing much" Bae replied honestly, wondering why they had to walk on proverbial eggshells around some king's children. He didn't get it "just looking around."

Which was true. He just wanted to look, and then he'd move on. Nothing was really here to get into and unlike some pups... He didn't have curiosity if an adult told him no. The reddish boy looked at him like he knew Baelfire. Did Mama introduce them when they were young? He didn't remember this, but it seemed like a thing Mama would do. He moved a bit closer to the older boy, abandoning his search in the nursery slash storage. "My mama used to sleep here, with me and my siblings" he added, shrugging.

It sated his curiosity for now. "Just wanted to see where we lived 'fore" He was boring, yes, he knew "you smell familiar, but... I don't remember your name." Bae invited the boy to say it, even if he did know. Mama had told him the names of all the pups in the pack, along with descriptions. Ajax. He knew this was Ajax. But it wasn't very polite to blurt it out, was it?
