Fishing Hana's way was conventional, but cold. The ocean shore along the soul land cove was as bitterly cold as any body of water he'd encountered yet, making fishing difficult and at times even painful. How anybody kept any form of agility and speed while waterlogged and freezing, Azure couldn't say. So rather than subject himself to a swimming-sort of fishing, he'd decided to go out and attempt to utilize another method a traveller had told him long ago. A way of carving through the ice on the ocean shore and fishing that way, staying dry and keeping his paws clean. He reached the shore and found himself a suitable layer of ice, thin enough to break through but thick enough to hold his weight. With the location found, Azure got to work with his claws. Scoring the ice in a circle again and again, and chipping away at it's layers to form a hole in which he could drop the line down into. "Speech"

Vanta was being bad today, but who could blame her? A group of bad guys raided her home, forcing her to spend all day locked in a den with her mother and littermates, and even now that she was free it seemed her freedoms were being limited. Mother was being over protective and watchful, it took hours to lose the ageing woman's gaze and slip out from the territory behind Azure. Stalking him hadn't been her original intent, but if her parents were right and the world outside was dangerous, at least she was with an adult who could protect her. If he would protect her, that was.

She spied him on the ice flow and worked her way toward him, slipping slightly on the ice and thanking her lucky stars that the sun had set on their walk here. If she'd been forced to go blind, there was no way she wouldn't have slipped and drowned. Making her way to her brother the pup crawled on her belly into his sight line, giving him a tiny and hesitant smile and flicking her crystalline gaze between him and the ice he scratched at. "Can.. can I help you?" She asked softly, ears pulling back as she awaited the reprimand that was surely to come.

Azure was not blind to the broken pup's presence, he simply did not care what she did or didn't do. Rules were meant to keep wolves safe, and should she go out and get herself killed it would only benefit his bloodline. Regardless the pup seemed to expect a punishment, and Azure barely gave her a moment of attention with his eyes before continuing cutting into the ice. "Stop cowering like a kicked dog, I don't care what you do." He stated, grabbing a chunk from the layer of ice and sliding it across the ground and away. "How exactly do you intend to help? It would take you a week to carve through this ice." The broken thing had no sabers, no feline claws, no mark of a Fatalis at all. Her crystalline disability gave her no benefit and the odd and hardened fur upon her spine could not help him to carve a hole.

His claws broke through to water, the ice falling down into the depths below. Azure took a step back to ensure it did not crack further and consume him too, but he'd picked an appropriate thickness and the ground at his paws held strong. Glancing at the eager puppy with a sigh, he nosed his muzzle toward the bag discarded off to the side. "Here." Rifling through the bag he pulled from it the string as well as the bait he'd acquired earlier, fastening it to the cat claw at the end of the string. He slid the contraption back toward the hole, placing his paw upon the not-baited end to keep it from falling in, and directed the pup. "Push it into the hole, and let me know if you see a fish grab at it."

She was well used to the man being cruel and callous towards her and Kite, but still her expression grew sadder as he stated his apathy. She'd rather he'd outright dislike her like Kite then just.. not care, like she was nothing at all. Vanta had no retort for his statement that she had no way to help, she didn't even know what he was doing to offer any even if she did have the proper tooth and claw to assist. Taking a seat beside the hole-in-progress, she simply grew quiet and watched until the Warlord's claws broke through.

As any puppy, Vanta's attention span was low and her memory poor. Her tail started to wag instantly as the hole in the ice was revealed, betraying the fact that she had been moping moments prior. "Cool!" She exclaimed, poking her nose down into the hole to look at the water as Azure turned to fiddle with his belongings. His voice called to her and she tore from the water to obey, strutting up to his side eagerly to watch as he fastened some string to a claw. She was going to be allowed to help! Looking serious, Vanta dropped her smile and nodded. "I got it." Grabbing the twine in her maw she drug it over to the hole, dropping it in ceremoniously and watching as the bait sunk low. Watching, waiting... nothing was happening. She turned her head from the hole to question him on what was taking so long and suddenly the line jerked, a fish clasped on the end. "A FISH! A FISH!" What did they do now?

The pup took her job seriously, though Azure gave a roll of his eyes at how clear she attempted to make that to him. "Good, good." He commented, sounding bored and flicking his paw to encourage her onward to the hole. The faster they got this done, the faster he'd be rid of her. If he was a crueler wolf and cared enough to exert energy on her demise, he'd even consider replacing the freshly caught fish with one brand new puppy. A shame his father would have words about it, and probably decide it was time to take back his title too. Impatience was clear in the pup's eyes, while Az sat with his paw upon the rope to wait. Fishing took time, it was something everyone knew, and if Vanta could not learn to be patient then perhaps she'd be as useless a hunter as she would be a fighter. He raised a brow to dare her to complain as she turned that impatience toward him, but suddenly the line lurched and her annoyance turned to thrill. His torn ears flicked back at the shrill and excited tone, his muzzle wrinkling as he stepped forward toward the hole. Down below was a fish - a rather large one, perhaps a pike - the pup was right. Pulling hard on the rope he began to haul it upwards, reaching his other paw forward to secure it once it breached up from the hole. "Kill it." He demanded, holding the flailing thing there and waiting. "Bite it in the gills." "Speech"

The fish was hooked and Vanta was alight with excitement, her tail wagging so hard that her rear ends began to slide upon the ice. Her claws scrabbled against the slick surface, making frantic clicking and scraping sounds as she squealed and slid. Her fear of the man was forgotten - they'd caught a fish! Poking her head right up to the hole as he brother began to pull the line up, Vanta watched intently to get the first sight of their kill-to-be. Likely she would not be allowed to deliver the blow (Az had stolen that honor already from Kite once) but she wanted to be there when it happened, to say she had a hand in this delivery of delicious food.

As the fish came up from the hole Azure's paw fell upon it, holding it there with one while the other held the string taut. The creature flopped wildly, tossing cold water into Vanta's face and forcing her to back up from it - something Azure seemed to think of as fear, as he commanded her to deliver the killing blow. Vanta withheld her grin, not wanting to change his mind and make him think she wanted to be the one to do it. Stepping slowly toward the prey, she parted her jaws tentatively and sunk her tiny fangs into the gills as directed. It took a massive bite and more then a few crunches (as the fish was near as big as she was) but eventually it's flailing stopped, it's dead eyes staring at her lifelessly and it's gaping mouth held open in death.
