It was easy to get lost in the glow of the bonfire and the soothing heat that it put off. The young Carpathius girl lay with her belly flat against the ground, but at the same time, propped up on her elbows. Her pale blue gaze honed in on the dancing light before her, yet seeing something just beyond what she could make out. In the moment, she was absorbed in her thoughts. Daydreaming, more or less as most children do. She wondered what life was going to be like as a grown-up. What did she want to do? Talyssa dearly loved her family at the hollows. But there was a part of her that longed to get out in the world and explore it. To see new places and to always be learning something new. The idea that maybe she could make a difference was alluring to her- though she didn't know how she could achieve such an abstract goal.

In fact, she was so withdrawn into herself, she didn't realize that she was no longer alone. Feeling the close proximity of another, her attention shifted to the familiar frame of one of the Hallows' knights. "Mercury!" She said softly in a tone of delight.

Mercury made his way out to the steppe to participate in another event held by the familiars of the gods. This one seemed to follow the train of inner reflection. A lot more serious then the straw building he had participated in. He wasn’t the only one here, and at the familiar sight of Talyssa, he wandered over to see how his Aegis’s daughter was getting on.

As he approached, she opened her eyes and greeted him. “Hello Talyssa, how are you getting on? Thinking of any good resolutions?” he asked her as he took a seat beside her. Feeling the warmth of the bonfire on his coat.


"Mercury"

As the knight settled in beside her, she leaned all of her weight on her opposite elbow, tilting herself ever so slightly so she could see him more directly. As he exchanged pleasantries, Talyssa brightened. "I'm well! Just having fun participating in the festival." Having made a straw wolf the last time she got to come, this provided a lot more of a somber ambiance. Though with his second question, she was confused. When she gave up trying to draw a conclusion based on the context, she settled for asking. "What's a resolution?" The Carpathius girl asked, curiosity peaked as she awaited an explanation.

Mercury grinned at the little pup as she shifted her balance to look up at him. “I’m glad you're having fun” he agreed. He’d speed a little time with her, and then make some rounds. Checking up on any other Hallow wolf and ensuring they were all well. He chuckled at her next question. She clearly hadn’t heard the word before. “It’s… hmm. How to explain” he paused, searching for the right words to explain to someone so new to the world. Someone without regrets.

“A resolution is like a promise. A promise to yourself on what changes you're going to make, or a way to work on yourself. Maybe you want to accomplish a personal goal, or change something in your life.” he explained carefully. I believe that's what the familiars here want us to do, to reflect on those choices”


"Mercury"

Once the knight had explained, she was given a sense of clarity and recognition. Talyssa nodded along, starting to speak before she knew what she was going to say. "Oh. Okay. Well ..." The girl stalled, hesitating as her mind spun. Though, it didn't take long for her to figure out her answer. "My resolution is to know and see everything!" She exclaimed enthusiastically. However, the longer she thought about it, the more she realized that it may just be an impossible goal. So, she would make an addendum. "Or, at least everything I can ..." Talyssa added, finishing with a firm nod of determination.

When she refocused on her friend, another question popped into her forethought. "What about you, Mercury? Do you have a resolution?" The fawn and fae asked lightly, curious to know what his resolution would be.
