Blood dripped from Ajax's tail. There were many of them, what seemed to be half a pack of coyotes circling him, yipping and nattering to one another. They were the ones to start this, but his sudden and swift retaliation had them a little unsure of what to do next. They had only meant to be annoying, it was what they did best when it came to wolves, but this one was on edge and it had seemed like a good idea to push him a little further. To dip and dart away every time he tried to snap them off, to get them to leave them alone. Except he hadn't reacted like that, not at first. He'd been really disinterested, like he barely even noticed them there. Even when they nipped at his shins and tugged at his fluffy tail he just didn't do what wolves should. And of course that intrigued them, drowned out the warning bells ringing in their ears.

It had happened so quickly, Ajax had just whipped around and with a slash of his tail he had cleaved a coyote's throat open. The cut so clean it was closer to a stroke of a sword than anything else. How were they even supposed to respond to something like this? They'd never thought such a soft and fluffy tail hide such...danger within. But maybe that's what this wolf was, danger wrapped up in orange fluff.

Ajax was on the move again, a low growl rumbling in his throat as he reached out for another coyote, limb extended as he slashed his cat claws against one of their shoulders. The force of it sending them careening and falling to the barren ground hard. Before they even had time to scramble back to their paws he was upon them, holding them down with a foot as he bit down on its head and just...-well chomped as hard as his jaws would allow. Chomped till bone cracked and eyes popped.

The other coyotes were quick to make themselves scarce then, ran with shrill yells passing their lips as they scaled up the nearby hills. They lingered on the ridges for a moment, still chattering as their hearts raced in their ears. Ajax did not follow, nor did he even seem to notice the little nips and bites they had inflicted on him. He simply stared at them with his blue, dead fish eyes.
