Often Scald would watch the birds flutter about on the beach. To and fro they would flap and fly as if they hadn't a care in the world. Darting in and out to dodge the rolling tide, Scald quite enjoyed the show whenever he was feeling too lazy to venture outside Pirate lands. On this particular day, as the sun rose slowly over the horizon, he noticed a set of paw prints that did not belong to a wolf. Actually, they were quite feline in nature. His brow furrowed as he slunk off of the log he was lounging on as he began to follow the set of tracks.

With his nose lowered to the blackened sand, his bi-colored gaze watched the beach. Where was this animal? The prints appeared fresh so it couldn't be that far off. Scald's ears flickered forward when he heard a loud squabbling and flap of wings. Raising his head quickly, he turned his head to see two bobcats going toe to toe with a freaky pink-looking bird. Tilting his face to the left, he questioned for a moment if he should help the feathered creature or not. It wasn't really his business how the bobcats got their daily meals. Yet, he enjoyed watching the birds and if he let the cats believe they could hunt on his beach, the birds would surely all disappear.

Letting out a rather annoyed sigh, he flattened his ears and raised his scruff and tail before going barreling toward the felines. Lifting his lips to show his teeth, he aligned his head with his shoulders as he approached. Releasing a rumbling snarl from his lungs, Scald leaped at one of the bobcats with paws outstretched. Latching onto its shoulder, he bit down on the neck as the other bobcat turned its attention to him.

Flurry was having a good old nap, she hadn't yet really picked a place to sleep consistently yet but she was drawn to the beach, to be honest, the ship just felt way more confining. Right now she was rolled onto her back, paws flopped against her chest shoved into a hole in the ground she'd found just big enough to shove herself into. So it really wasn't a surprise when she heard the commotion start-up, she struggled to roll onto her stomach in the tight confines and stepped bleary-eyed out into the world. She blinked a few times, trying to clear the fuzz of dream from her mind and force her eyes to focus on the squirming mass she could see further up the beach.

It only really clarified a bit, her angle was bad with the sun shining in her eyes and she could just make out paws and snarling and very distressed bird noises. She could make out the distinctive patchy coloration of her brother and that was enough to at least get her trotting toward the scuffle. Was he struggling with a bird he'd caught or something? As she got closer it got easier to make out the shapes and by the time Flurry realized her brother was scrapping with a pair of big cats Flurry was already flying down the beach to help him. She wasn't a particularly territorial wolf but she was nothing if not loyal to her crew and that included her brothers, stinky as they were.

So while her brother grappled with one of the bobcats Flurry did the first thing that came to her mind, she lowered her head and aimed to headbutt the cat that had turned its attention to her brother, it wasn't exactly easy to tell if she'd managed to skewer the cat, at least until she heard it snarl in pain, success! She'd gotten her horns into the meat of it's hindleg, though she hadn't had quite enough force to really dig them in. And frankly she wasn't really thinking past this point. Now what? she thought as a large paw came flying at her head, she stumbled back, feeling like her brain had just been scrambled.

Seconds before the other cat could attack him, he saw a blur of patchwork fur come barreling toward him. A wide smile enveloped his lips as he let out a crooning call to his sister. Thank goodness she had been nearby! As she grappled with the second bobcat, Scald focused back in on the one he had sunk his teeth into. Clearly pissed off and starting to really thrash around, Scald hung on for dear life. Claws swung near him as the cat tried to pull away from his grip on its neck.

What he hadn't expected was to get really tired. Holding onto something with such dense fur was exhausting! Letting go and stumbling backward, Scald stole a quick glance to make sure Flurry didn't need help before he went back for the cat. It was already going for him when a swipe of a paw slashed across his face. A stinging sensation caused him to yelp and snarl. How dare that cat ruin his good looks! Flattening his ears, he let his quills bristle before pretending to try and get away so the cat would fall for his trick. Surprisingly it did! In the next moment, he felt pressure along his spine and heard the yowling call of the bobcat as it landed straight onto his sharp quills.
