Ghastly Garment

Her most recent pelts made her smile and she wanted to make something other than a blanket out of them. Lurid knew how to craft certain items out of wolf hides, so she set about tanning and preparing the hide for wearing. Making sure it was pliable enough to work with, the ivory devil set about working on a second hide to use for the vest part of her jacket, needing two that almost matched. They had been twins, with nearly the same colors and patterns on the two of them. While she worked the pelts, she remembered their screams with a sick smile.

They had been a challenge to get clean after her work on them. Lurid had come upon them in the Sparse Pines, after being unable to find Requiem she had decided to search for him. Distraction came in the shape of two rainbow-colored wolves, her mouth watered instantly, and she came to them with the sweetest smile. She only wanted to talk, she said. Talk and walk. She asked the pair if they had ever heard of the monsters who lived in the ship not far from where they were. They had told her no one had heard of them, so Lurid took them home. "This smells like pack territory." One of them said. "Yes, we shouldn't be here." The other chimed in. "No, you shouldn't be, but here we are." Lurid gave a smile that would have been mistaken for friendly, but anyone who knew her would be able to see the darkness in the expression. "Want to see the ship?"  She ushered them toward her home, not telling them that she was the ruler of this land.

Once she got them inside she killed them, then skinned them and bathed the blood out of their coats. Tanning had been a slow process but she got them soft and pliable enough to be shaped into something she could use. She used long strips of leather to make string, enough that she could stitch the two together with a bone needle she had fashioned out of the bones of a long-dead victim. Weaving the two together, Lurid hummed with delight at her new coat of many colors, their stripes matching up perfectly with each other. She held up her coat after it was finished and smiled at her work. Maybe she wouldn't wear them herself, as she had made the coat out of two dire wolf rainbow wolves, and she was warm enough on her own. It would be a gift to one of her siblings, or perhaps her husband.
