I'm workin on the achievement of hunting creatures from land/sea/air

Hattori knew that seafaring birds made nests in ring of land that circled the Swallet. That they found safety and shelter amongst the trees and foliage, knew full well that wolves did not frequent this place far too often. It was a worthwhile venture in his eyes though, as these birds were massive and would provide a lot of meat to put away in storage. He did not know what it would taste like, any other bird perhaps, but he supposed he would find out soon enough. He padded across the sand, moving quickly but quietly, decisive as he scented the air, had his ears tipped for the telltale sounds of bird calls and flapping of wings.

Kuroo followed in Hattori’s steps. A single file line where his own paws fit in nicely with the Kaicho’s. While there was no need to appear as one wolf, it would only make trekking out to the ring easier. Whenever Hattori ventured out to hunt, Kuroo tried to tag along. If he wasn’t on patrol duty or busy with the netting system, he enjoyed the adventure and thrill of taking down something unusual.

This time it was the Albatross that nested along the sandy shores. Hiding within the thickets, he kept his pale gaze along where he had seen them nest before. Both ears tuned in, he continued to follow Hattori until the Kaicho gave pause or made noise for what their next step would be.

No matter what, they could not let the bird take flight. Regardless of how high they jumped, once it was in air it was highly unlikely they'd be able to catch it. And even Hattori's bird would find it near impossible to take on such a large bird alone, with backup standing on the ground and looking up helplessly. He knew they were nesting nearby and thus at their most vulnerable, the albatross knew this as well and as such were extra vigilant, remaining quiet to listen to whatever threats lurked nearby. Wolves by nature were not made for stealth, it was difficult for Hattori to move through the underbrush without making a sound and thus the pair had some trouble approaching. Inching closer and closer, Hattori glanced over his shoulder. What was the best way to go about this?

He slowed a little, gesturing with his head for Kuroo to take the lead, being the faster of the two. If he were to make the initial grab, so to speak, Hattori could weigh in and help pin the bird down.

There is a pause in the Kaicho’s large steps. Kuroo is sure to pause not a half-second later. Every fiber of his being is on alert as he meets the man’s gaze. A slight nod of the head, a gentle shift of muscle. It makes sense. He is smaller, lighter, faster than the Kaicho. Hattori is there for muscle, strength, brawn, whatever you wanted to call it. While he is not stealthy like a feline, he at least is something.

Darting around Hattori and moving forward, ever closer to the Albatross’ nesting area, Kuroo zeroes in on their target. If the bird were to take flight… their hunt would be over. Even one inch out of their reach and they would have to try again a different day. Which was why he was extra careful. Not even his tail moved as he shifted through the grass. Breathing slowly and deliberately, Kuroo went around to the opposite side of the large bird’s nest.

His toes flexed in the soft dirt and grass beneath him as he rolled his shoulders backward. This was it. His moment was now as the large bird began to tuck its beak beneath its wing to rest. In the next instants, the pale piebald wolf was lunging forward. A paw slipping in the mud, he manages to leap forward and latch on to the bird’s shoulder as the bird startles and opens its wings to defend itself and the nest.

As soon as Kuroo made the initial grab, Hattori dashed in to offer his support. His steps thudding, landing harder than the deft fisher-wolf. Even if the bird wished to take flight it would be too late for that now and instead it seemed to take up a more defensive approach, hoping to flap and perhaps bluff its way out of this predicament. But such a tactic would not work today, not with two talented hunters biting onto its wings. Hattori took a hold of the other wing, using his weight to bear down upon it, perhaps even breaking bone in the process. It sqwarked and flailed, the sound of an egg crunching caught Hattori's ears and he wondered if it would be worth to take more care not to crush the rest. Egg and fish did go well together after all.

Lunging for the neck, to end it quick, Hattori had no interest in drawing this out any longer than it needed.

Hunting with Hattori felt natural. As if they were made to be a pair. To be able to hunt in silence, no words exchanged, it was a sign of a true hunter. Only the minor movements of their bodies were enough to tell the other what the next step would be. A simple twitch of the muscle, a flick of the ear, where their steps would land. That was why Kuroo did not hesitate or worry as he clamped down on the bird's wing. Feathers beat against his face only for a moment before the dire wolf had a hold of the other one.

Ignoring the loud crunch of bones and eggs, Kuroo held on. Digging his paws into the straw and reed nest around them, he prevented the large bird from taking off. No matter how many times that sharp beak grabbed at his ears and scruff, he continued to shake his head and furth disable the bird. Only moments later did he feel the weight of Hattori shift from the wing to the neck. In the next second, Kuroo heard the gurgling cry of the dying bird. Quick, easy, simple. Releasing the wing, he looks to Hattori with a smile and a wag of his tail.

"It'll be nice to add this to the menu," he jokes as he prepares to help Hattori get the bird ready to take back to the bamboo.

And it was over, easily enough all things considered.

"Mm. I will have someone collect the eggs." The ones that weren't broken at least were worth salvaging, if nothing else to stop another scavenger from taking them. He moved then, grabbing a hold of the birds neck so he could start to drag it back. It was heavier than it looked, making it so impressive that it was able to fly such great distances over the ocean with relative ease. They would take turns to haul it back, one resting whilst the other carried it. Hattori would have to find someone to prepare the bird, perhaps it was time someone took up the mantle as Tojo's chef.
