If My Nose Was Runnin' Money, Honey, I'd Blow it all on you [Healers Needed]

Dagrún followed along after Gossamer back to the Armada borders, Dag limped along. A good amount of blood was oozing from her shoulder and as the adrenaline left her the pain grew steadily worse. Gossamer wasn't much better off, her own wounds causing her to limp. Dag kept a few paces behind Gossamer, uncertain of where exactly they were going and if she was honest she also didn't mind the view. Gossy had grown into a strong and beautiful wolf. Dag wondered if the Armada girl remembered crafting weapons with her when they were girls before the Armada and Fireside fell into conflict. It had been fun, she'd enjoyed having someone to craft with when her siblings were too busy to play with her. She stopped at the border and waited for Gossamer to call for help.

Gossamer was not feeling all that well as she walked to the border. Even though she told Dagrún she didn't need the escort she was glad the other woman was here. It made sense. They were bleeding, wounded, and with the spring bears waking from their hibernation with hunger she didn't want to be wandering alone when she could be perceived as a snack more than usual. Although she was a healer herself she was tired and she knew Dag would have to be on her way. She glanced back at the woman to make sure she was doing alright only to be greeted with a smile. Gossamer smiled back then quickly turned her head back to their path. When they arrived at the border she stopped and howled for the packs healers, beckoning Dagrún to join in as well. She wanted it to be clear that she was here with a visitor not that Dag was the cause of her injuries.

It hadn't gotten any less terrifying to hear the call go up for healers, now technically he wasn't one yet, though his father knew well enough by now that that was the path he wanted to pursue, so it wouldn't be a problem to answer the call right? Surely he wouldn't be the only healer there, he knew how to stay out from under paw and if they needed help he would be more than happy to offer his aid. He'd decided he wanted to take up residence in the cavern he'd found with the little water stream, he'd realized there was a slight slope that helped to drain the water through another crack in the wall, meaning the little pool of water wouldn't stagnate, fresh water was always a good thing to have on hand when you needed to clean wounds. Luckily he was becoming a little bit faster and more sure of what he needed to grab.
So it was that he arrived at the border, Riya was carrying with her a stone bowl of water and Crux's bundle of supplies had expanded from the more commonly used herbs, Dandelions, Agrimony and Yarrow, to include Lady's Slipper to help ease the pain of treatment, and a few scavenged rags he'd made a point to thoroughly wash, and softened leather strips that could be used to bandage some wounds. All of this he carried in a bigger leather bundle. He faltered slightly when he arrived and realized he was the first healer to show, but he swallowed the lump forming in his throat, he would do what he could before someone else could arrive. He gently placed his bundle down and gave each of the women a polite nod, one was his older sister though they hadn't had much chance to speak, and a wolf carrying a scent that spoke of a different pack but the closeness the two women showed told him this was not a case of attacked and attacker. So he would almost immediately get to work. "I'm Crux Fatalis," he started mostly for the unknown woman's benefit, "I'm uh, learning how to be a healer, but if it's okay by you I can start treating you until someone with more knowledge arrives." As he spoke he was giving both women a careful look, blood, and a decent amount of it and they seemed tired but both were still visibly lucid, so he wouldn't touch them until he was given express permission or one of them became to incapacitated to advocate for themselves.

The call from his daughter that asked for a healer and spoke of a stranger sent the Warlord at a quick trott. Either his kid was hurt, or the stranger was. Either way, the Warlord needed to know. The call came from the Col border, which placed them by the market. He slipped through the caves and found his daughter. A stranger at her side, and Crux who had beaten him there. Good.
He gave his son a nod of approval. His quick response reflected well. He moved forward and touched his nose to Gossy. "What happened?" He asked her softly. Her friend would have no issues entering the Col if he was at their side, and her call made it obvious that Gossy considered the girl to be no threat.

Gossamer settled down with an exhausted sigh before gesturing for Dag to join her. Her paws ached from the walking and the pain grew with every passing moment. Gossy's ears perked up as she saw her younger brother Crux arrive with a bundle of herbs and a bowl. She hadn't realized he'd had an interest in healing and felt a little guilty she hadn't given her younger brother any instruction. It was hard to balance her role as warrior and lieutenant with her interest in healing.
"Thank you Crux." Before she could say more her father arrived and she felt a rush of assurance at his presence. She cleared her throat and stood, eager to show her strength despite her injuries. "I went for a walk to clear my head and was attacked by a grizzly. Dagrún aided me and together we drove off the beast." She looked to the other woman and offered a soft smile before gesturing slightly to her father. "Dagrún, this is Sirius Fatalis. Warlord of the Armada." She wanted to make sure the cheeky woman knew who she was addressing before the shield maiden said something she'd regret.
Gossamer turned to Crux and smiled gently. "Don't worry, I'm also a healer. I can help guide you. Let's tend to Dag's shoulder first. She intends to head back to Ethne tonight. I see you brought some fresh water. That's excellent. Our wounds got rather filthy in the battle, especially that shoulder." She gestured to the large gash down Dagrún's left shoulder. It was marked with mud and bits of debris.

Dagrún sat next to Gossamer, hiding the pain in her shoulder as she moved. When she shifted the wound would start to weep blood again. They didn't have to wait long before a yearling healer showed up and introduced himself as Crux. Dag nodded in greeting before her attention was taken by a massive man with saber fangs arrived.
She cocked her head at Gossamer as she watched the affection displayed between the two. Was this her dad? Gossamer introduced the man and she gave a respectful nod. "An honor." As Gossamer beckoned the yearling forward, Dag shifted to make her shoulder more accessible. "The bear fought with great ferocity as have many of the predators I've run into lately. I hate to be from my pack for too long."

The next wolf to arrive was not another more experienced healer but his father, well that didn't help his anxiety. But it also, almost counter intuitively, made him want to prove himself, especially after he'd been comforted by his father when he was tending to the warlord's wound. He was pretty sure about the path he wanted to pursue now but he wasn't sure yet that he was ready, but maybe he wanted to put the idea in his father's head anyways. Still he wasn't exactly thriving in this particular situation. Luckily it seemed Gossamer was stepping up to help him, even if he was a also a little frustrated that this was the second time that his patient had had to help him with their own treatment. Crux nodded and closed his eyes for a moment, taking a few more collected breathes. When he opened his eyes next things were a little less terrifying, only a little. He grabbed some of the herbs and stepped towards Dagrún, Riya stepping up behind him with the water bowl and some rags. "I have some lady's slipper if you want a sedative for the pain, but if you're planning to travel tonight you may not want the sleepiness it'll cause." Still he offered her some of the herb before turning to take one of the rags which he gently dipped it in the water, rung out and then began to carefully clean the wound, wiping away some of the blood from the surrounding area and making sure he was removing any debris and not just pushing them further into the wound. With how fresh the wound was he suspected he wouldn't really be able to see much in the way of signs of infection, best to probably make sure she was given something for that then, maybe Agrimony? She could ingest it for a general anti-inflammatory instead of having to have a panacea applied, would make travel easier and since she smelled like she belonged to a pack it would hopefully be easy enough for their healer to check her and give her something if infection did manifest, but on the other hand he didn't want to risk mixing herbs if she had taken the lady's slipper... Why hadn't he thought of that first?

Gossamer shifted slightly to give Dagrún more room as the other girl moved to sit down next to her. She then turned her attention back to Crux who offered Dag some Lady's Slipper for the pain. She nodded lightly at Crux's consideration that the lady's slipper would make Dag to sleepy for her journey home. It was a weaker form of valerian and she didn't want to put him out. Deciding she could use something to calm her nerves after that ghostly encounter she quickly spoke up. "I'll take some, Crux, thank you. I agree Dagrún may want to pass on the lady's slipper. If you have any meadowsweet or willow bark that could be applied to the wound til the pain lessens that might get Dagrún a good way into her journey." She offered to leave her suggestion at that. Should Crux ask about any antiseptic herbs to deal with bleeding or infection she'd gladly offer some suggestions.

Dagrún shifted her body so the young healer could more easily access her wounded shoulder. While the Armada and Ethne were on strictly neutral terms she wasn't overly worried about being poisoned. Still she didn't want to be sleepy on her way back south. "Yea, I think I'd like to avoid sedatives. If you could just get it cleaned up and stop the bleeding that'd be great. I just can't get at it as well as I like." Not that she had any knowledge on what to do with the wound other than licking it which was probably not the best idea considering her mouth had been so saturated in bear flesh not that long ago. She winced a little but soon relaxed as the healer started to clean the debris out of the wound and wipe away the excess dried blood that mattered her fur. Hers and the bears.

Crux's sister offered him gentle guidance and Crux nodded, trying to make sure he didn't forget anything she might mention that he didn't yet know while also keeping an eye on both women. The idea she may be less able to help him once she was a little more sedated did send a flash of anxiety through him but he pushed it down, nodding at Riya who separated out what they'd worked out would be a safe dosage of lady's slipper and offered it to Gossamer while Crux kept his attention on Dagrún. Thankfully Crux did indeed have Meadowsweet, a luckily easy herb to find around here, since travel was a little harder for him. He set about making a quick salve, tossing some Yarrow in for good measure, and stepped up to begin gently applying it to Dagrún's shoulder. "Meadowsweet should help keep any swelling and pain down," he began while glancing at his sister as he spoke, "the yarrow should help with bleeding so you're not leaking all the way home." He stepped back and even managed a weak smile, it was a bad attempt at humour. He began to dress the wound with some of the softened leather until he was satisfied it wouldn't slip to much during travel and keep the herb mixture where it would help. "Make sure you seek out a healer once you get back to check for any signs of infection developing and help you change your bandages and clean the wound again." He swallowed hard, and cast a glance over the woman. "Any other aches or pains?" He wanted to make sure he'd gotten everything he could before he turned his attention to Gossamer, Riya had offered Gossy to start cleaning her wounds while he'd worked, preparing for Crux's treatment.
