Skoll's eyes opened slowly to a still-dark plain. As the world came into focus one thing became clear; it was well and truly autumn now. His breath puffed visibly before him in the faint chill of the early morning, and the slightest hint of frost edged the grasses. His mind turned toward the conversation he'd had with Baldur when he'd first gotten to this new land, and he wondered if Baldur still planned to meet him, or if he'd done something stupid like going up there himself and getting himself killed. Damn the heroic side of Baldur, anyway; it didn't matter unless he did something to put the rest of the family at risk.

A breath puffed out from beside him and Skoll's mind switched gears, focusing on the girl with him. Hm. She would be a problem. He didn't want to leave her here alone to wander without him, but at the same time his first priority was always to his family, which in this case meant to their planned raid. He still didn't know the land between here and Vili's pack as well as he should have, and he truly doubted Baldur or Thor had spent enough time studying it on their travels either since both had been injured when leaving the pack. He'd planned to scout ahead before he'd been meant to meet Baldur, but with Angel...

He ground his teeth together angrily. Well, he'd just have to risk his prize, then. Nothing was more important than family. "Angel," he spoke softly, his voice and actions betraying none of his irritation as he nudged at her with his muzzle. "Angel, wake up. I need to speak with you."

Madieke

She laid there, curled into a tight ball, her back pressed into the larger white male next to her. Her body relaxing with their shared heat. Though it was finally autumn now, her fur had yet to grow thicker. Plus she rather enjoyed being warm and snuggling next to another. She felt safe, loved and cared for. She had never tried to leave his side since that day she had scared him. In return she had gotten a shaking for her lack of not thinking. She always made sure she was at his side, or telling him where she would be or doing. Hunting had caused a problem at first. She didn't want him mad for not following but didn't want to scare away the prey. But they came up with a method in no time. Angel could easily herd the prey to him and he had the strength to pull anything down.

frost gathered upon the grass, her slow even breaths came out in white puffs. Her tail curled around her, paws tucked under. A soft voice would slip into her sleep, rousing her awake. The gentle nosing of Skoll had her ice blues slowly open. Blinking a few times to clear the blurry sleep out of them followed by a yawn, her head lifted. Turning to Skoll she gave a soft smile and nuzzled his cheek."Skoll, what is it? Its early, the sun isn't up yet." She said with slight worry creasing her brow. As she became more awake a knowing feeling ate away at her gut. Something was up, something was about to happen and she wouldn't like it. She franticly raced through her mind wondering if she had done anything wrong. Nothing that she could think of. So why did she feel this way?

His girl would slowly come awake in that soft and slow way of her that was usually adorable but today only invoked impatience in him. He tolerated her caress, and then came the question. Yes, what was it indeed. He lay watching her for a moment through narrowed eyes, cursing the timing of it all, before he spoke. "Angel, I don't know if I ever told you about my family. We had a pack up north, far to the north, that my father started. He'd planned for it to be much more than that, though... an empire of sorts where all his children would get to rule over the lands, eventually, though he'd always planned for the core pack to go to his oldest son, my brother Hati." Skoll's teeth flashed in a snarl as he said the Betrayer's name, before he continued. "But Hati betrayed him and murdered him, then abandoned the pack and left it to rot, and the older children drifted away without my father's guidance until the only ones left where me and a handful of others. I left to find my brothers and bring them back, but I had to leave behind more siblings to do it."

He paused, icy eyes studying her intently. "I see now that this land is much more hospitable than the one I grew up in, and my family would be much happier here. I have to go back for them, my Angel. My brother Baldur and I have a... rescue mission planned for later this season, and I must go ahead now to scout the best way of getting there and back safely. You'll need to stay here in this territory until I get back. Do you understand?" He wasn't expecting her to say no, of course, because she was his Angel and surely she would not dare to question him.

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn

She laid there silently as he spoke, ears pinning back in dislike of where things were going. Her fully attention was on each and every word, her eyes locked onto his face. She could understand his need to go back, to correct things and bring his family here. But why did she have to stay here? She scrambled to her paws, pain flooding her eyes."Why cant I go? Skoll I know the basics of healing, I could help you and your family. Please don't leave me here alone!" She begged him. Her chest felt like it was squeezing. There had to be a way for convince him to let her go with him. She wasn't sure if she could handle being alone without him. She stood there shaking with the amount of emotions running through her."You cant leave me! Who will protect me? Who will watch over me? Skoll I need you, I promise i'll do more of the hunting, I wont complain about anything. Just don't go without me.." She stared down at him, or rather eye level as her head lowered. Ice blue eyes blazed with her need to have him.

She sighed and sat next to him, head butting into his shoulder. What if she gave herself completely to him? Would it make him keep her at his side no matter what? Would it make him change his mind if she did? She took a shaky breath, nuzzling her forehead into him."I'd do anything to be by your side..i don't know what i'd do without you." She said softly.

His distraction and calm demeanor melted away, revealing suddenly a steely expression and eyes dark with anger. "I said you're staying here, Madieke. I wasn't looking for you opinion." But his face and body relaxed as he sighed. "It will be dangerous there, Angel. My uncles are... very bad, very evil men who would not hesitate to take you away from me and hurt you. I will not let that happen." No one was allowed to touch what was his, not even his filthy uncles could harm her. She was his and no one else's.

He was not fully aware that he'd tensed again until she nuzzled him, and he forced himself into relaxation once more. "I know, Angel love. But you are not the helpless, weak creature your family thinks you are. Not anymore, right? I believe in you. I know you can be strong until I get back, because you're my Angel." He settled his neck over hers, pulling her in closer. "Understand though, Angel, you must stay here." His voice took on a tone of intensity. "I could not possibly be of any use to my brothers if I'm terrified about you being in danger. No, it's much safer for both of us if you were here."
