there. they’d finally cornered their prey. after careful time spent dogging it’s steps, remaining low to the ground to minimise potential noise, Araneae had finally trapped the large beetle against an upturned tree root, and unless it could climb (which was unlikely, surely?) they’d have it within their grasp in mere moments. barely able to mask their apprehension, they gathered strength into their back legs, preparing to kick off from the ground. it was impressively large; perhaps they’d gift it to Hazel. a proud flush warmed them at the very thought, practically preening at the imagined praise. yes, they’d prove themselves a talented hunter indeed.
